The competition between the two distributors to win over the hearts of the consumers have resulted in some pretty great deals on Xiaomi smartphones. So we took that burden off of you onto our own shoulders. We have compiled a list of Xiaomi mobiles price in Nepal including all the available Xiaomi smartphones in Nepal right now. Also, we have given our thoughts on each one of them so that you could choose the phone you like and is within your budget. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2

The glorious ceramic phone is back, now with updated internals and even more eye-catching design. We can’t rave enough about how it looks. The images speak for themselves. At a glance, not much more seem to have changed but the Mi Mix 2 now comes with Snapdragon 835, and even more impressive cameras. The chin has become smaller and the phone curvier adding some grip to the phone. The front camera still lies on the bottom right of the chin. Overall the aesthetics of the phone look more elegant than before.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 looks and feels stunning; it performs stupendously and it has the battery to last all day. We really love this phone. But it is worth noting that Xiaomi’s own Mi 6 which has similar specs to that of the Mi Mix 2 currently is on sale for Rs 44,000. And however much we love this phone, we can’t recommend you to shell out Rs 20,000 extra just for the looks of a phone as the Mi 6 looks gorgeous too. But if you feel that this design is worth your money, by all means, buy the Mi MIx 2.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is different from every other phone on this list for it uses an AMOLED panel instead of IPS LCD for delivering the deepest of blacks and an infinite contrast ratio. And have you seen its edges curve and blend into the metal frame? The screen is stunning to look at. Its big, bright, and beautiful. The internal is powerful too. Even though the phone was released in 2016, it can handle nearly every task you throw at it today but we can’t say for sure for how long. The 22.5 MP cameras capture beautiful, vibrant photos and the massive battery lasts all day.

The 6 GB RAM is large, even by 2018 standards. And the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 has all the bells and whistles of a flagship, including quick charge 3.0. So, should you buy it in 2018? Well if you like the design and the size, maybe. It’s worth noting that currently, the Galaxy S8 is available for Rs 67,150 and the OnePlus 5T for Rs 64,900 in the Nepalese market. And Xiaomi’s own Mi 6 offers better specs for a lower price of Rs 44,000.

Xiaomi Mi Mix

This phone, the Xiaomi Mi Mix, was the first phone that successfully brought the concept of an all screen phone to the mainstream. There was nothing like it at the time. Its ceramic frame and the back scream premium the minute you touch it. When you first see it, you may be confused with the many questions that arise in your head. Where is the front camera? Where is the earpiece? And where is the proximity sensor?

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The camera is at the bottom right of the screen nearly hidden on the tiny black chin. There is no cut-out for an ear-piece but the phone uses the vibration of ceramic to make a sound. This phone is a feat of engineering and has been lauded by consumers and critics alike. If you are a person who wants a Wooow-factor on their phone, this phone is for you.

The insides are a bit old though. You will get a better processor and a better camera experience from the Xiaomi Mi 6 for a lower price but it won’t look like this.

Xiaomi Mi 6

Covered in an all-glass construction (ceramic back for the 128 GB model) the Xiaomi Mi 6 shimmers as the latest flagship from Xiaomi. Xiaomi has replaced all the edges of Mi 6 with curves and it looks and feels stunning in the hand with its stainless steel frame. This phone is a looker but doesn’t be fooled by its elegant, non-threatening look because it is a beast inside. Powered by the Snapdragon 835 that is paired with 6 GB of RAM, this phone glides through anything you throw at it whether it is a first-person shooter game or a dozen apps running in the background. The dual primary cameras take beautiful photos which are stored in its 64 GB internal storage. The storage is enough for all your photos and apps.

So, how does this phone fare against other flagships? Oneplus 5T with similar internals costs around Rs. 64900. The Samsung Galaxy S8, which has slightly less RAM at 4 GB, costs around Rs. 67,000. So, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is a steal at the price of Rs. 44,000.

Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus

Xiaomi mi 5s is an all-metal build phone with a 2016’s flagship level processor, Snapdragon 821 inside. It comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. It has a large IPS LCD screen that measures at 5.7″ which is great for multimedia consumption. The storage at 64 GB can hold nearly all your photos and apps and the 4 GB RAM can handle any amount of multitasking you throw at it. The 3800mAh battery is adequate for an all-day use and the addition of Quick Charge 3.0 is a great bonus for faster top-ups. The dual 13 MP cameras take great photos in good lighting.

The Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus is a good phone. We have no complaints about it, nor do we have any wow factor to add to it. Currently, the Nokia 8 with a faster and more powerful Snapdragon 835 processor is available for Rs 43K and Xiaomi’s own Mi6 with Snapdragon 835 and 6 GB of RAM is available for Rs. 44,000. They are far better value for money than Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus.

Xiaomi Mi 5s

The performance of the Mi 5s is very similar to the Mi 5s plus, thanks to the same processor used on both these devices. You may take a hit on the multitasking front because of its 3 GB RAM. Other cheaper phones from Xiaomi itself nowadays have 4 GB RAM. But it’s not much of a decrease in performance. The cameras click great-looking photos in good lighting scenarios but the same can’t be said for low lighting conditions.

Though a good enough performer, this phone belongs to 2016. More recent budget offerings from Xiaomi and other manufacturers like Huawei and Oppo give you a better Value. Some phones you may want to look at, at this price range are the Nokia 8, which boasts a superior Snapdragon 835 processor and is on sale for Rs 43K at Daraz, the Xiaomi Mi A1 and the Huawei Nova 2i.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2

Though the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is a big phone, its internals belongs to that of a mid-range device, particularly, the Snapdragon 625 processor. But don’t dismiss this phone just yet because it is a very capable device. It can handle all your daily tasks pretty well and the 4 GB of RAM helps make Multitasking smooth. The camera on the back is good enough in well-lit conditions. Where the Mi Max 2 shines is the battery department because it has a 5300 mAh battery. To put that into perspective, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has a 3300 mAh battery. The Mi Max 2 would last you all day and more.

Why would you buy the old Xiaomi Mi Max when there is a newer, refined Xiaomi Mi Max 2 in town? Ther’s no reason to. You may say price but the difference between the two is of only Rs 3000 but the improvements are significant. Also, you should not buy old hardware if possible at all. So go and check out the Mi Max 2 for our insight.

Xiaomi Mi 4

The Xiaomi Mi 4 was a flagship from Xiaomi when it came out and it was the phone that really showed Xiaomi as a serious phone maker. An aluminum frame binds the polycarbonate back with the glass front. This phone still feels premium in the day of all metal phones or all glass phones. And it is still available in the Nepalese market. But it has been 4 years since Xiaomi announced this phone and it has started to show its age. It can perform tasks like calls, texts, and a little facebook well enough but it can’t handle games or any other intensive tasks. The latest android version it can support is Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) but we are already on android 8.1 (Oreo). And the camera is not so good even in well-lit conditions.

The bottom line is that this phone is too old for you to consider it in 2018. But if you want to buy a Xiaomi phone or any phone under 20K, you should look at the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 which offers better internals and a better build for a price of Rs 18,999.

Xiaomi Mi 4 Key Specifications

  • Display: 5.0 inches (1080×1920), IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen

Pros Cons
Good battery life Very Old-Gen processors
Mediocre camera

Xiaomi Mi 5

I want to make one thing very clear with the Xiaomi MI 5: it looks and feels beautiful, especially the black version. It has a great pocketable size and a beautiful full HD screen. The internals belongs to 2016 but it is still a performer. The closest phone it can be compared with is the Samsung Galaxy S7 in terms of performance and design. Xiaomi Mi 5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. Sadly there’s no option for expandable storage. So you’ll have to be a little careful with the number of photos you take if you don’t back them up in Google photos. The camera takes great photos in nearly all lighting conditions and it supports HDR. The battery on the XIaomi Mi 5, though seemingly small lasts all day, thanks to the battery management from Xiaomi.

You can tell that we really love this phone. It offers great design and performance for its price. Some other phones that you’d want to look at this price range are the OPPO F5 (it has a plastic back) and the Huawei Nova 2i.

Xiaomi Mi 5 Key Specifications

Xiaomi Mi A1

The Xiaomi Mi A1 is a Unique phone from Xiaomi because it is a phone under the android one program. This means that the operating system is pure android experience with no custom overlays like MIUI on top. Also, the phones in the Android one program get the fastest updates. The lack of an overlay means that the phone feels buttery smooth from the first day and is great to look at too. The Snapdragon 625 processor is a fairly midrange processor but the 4 GB RAM, the 64 GB storage and the dual cameras are a helluva lot at this price range. Couple that with the no-nonsense, bloatware free software experience, we’ve got a winner here.

We absolutely recommend the Xiaomi Mi A1 for the price. If you want to look at other options for your peace of mind, you should check out the Redmi 5 Plus from Xiaomi, and the Gionee A1.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 SD

The value that you are getting from the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is unmatched by any other phone in Nepal. You are getting midrange specs for the price of a budget phone. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 paired with 3 GB/ 4 GB Ram (we recommend going with the 4 GB RAM variant), this phone performs admirably with smooth animations. Multitasking is also not a problem. The 64 GB large enough for all your photos and apps. The cameras are consistent and shoot impressive photos in well-lit conditions while they suffer a little under low light. The battery life is commendable and this phone will last you all day.

Though the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4’s design may seem a little bland, it’s a great value for what you are getting inside. At around Rs. 20,000, we couldn’t find a better deal than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in the price range.

Xiaomi Redmi 4X

Xiaomi has done it again with its Xiaomi Redmi 4X. The Redmi 4X phone packs an impressive array of specs for a reasonable price of Rs 15,999. Inside, you get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor which, though being an entry-level chipset, can handle your daily task pretty well. The screen has an HD resolution which is good enough for a 5.0-inch screen. Its 3 GB RAM can handle multitasking very well, and the 32 GB internal storage would be more than enough for most people. The cameras deliver great photo and video experience for the price.

Though the Redmi 4X is a great phone, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 gives it a run for its money. The Redmi 5 has an updated 18:9 HD+ screen and although the Redmi Note 4 costs a little bit more than Redmi 4X, it is a better overall value.

Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime

The Redmi 3S Prime is similar to the Redmi 4X in many ways. It has the same storage and the same RAM capacity. The same GPU, the same camera setup. But the Redmi 4X has a slightly faster Snapdragon 435 compared to the Snapdragon 430 in the Redmi 3S Prime. And the Redmi 4X also supports QuickCharge 2.0 which is missing in Redmi 3S Prime. Other components such as the camera modules are essentially the same.

As the prices of both the Redmi 4X and the Redmi 3S Prime are similar, we recommend going with the Redmi 4X.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Prime

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Prime is similar to the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime and the Xiaomi Redmi 4X, especially the Mi 4X. It has the same processor and GPU, the same RAM and Storage Capacity, the same screen resolution, although the screen on the Note 5A is larger than the Redmi 4X which brings the pixel density in the Redmi Note 5A Prime slightly lower than that in the Redmi 4X. The main difference is in the camera modules used. The secondary camera has a megapixel count of 16 and a larger aperture than the primary camera. So if you take a lot of selfies this is the phone to choose. The front camera may be the reason for the Rs. 2000 price difference between this phone and the Redmi 4X.

Though the name of this phone makes it feel like an improvement over the Redmi Note 4, the Redmi Note 4 has a higher res screen, more powerful processor and a larger battery and it provides a better value than the 5A Prime.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A

This phone is the little brother of the Redmi Note 5A Prime and costs nearly Rs. 3500 less. So what do you get with the decrease in the price of Rs. 3500? Well, you get a slower processor, 2 GB of RAM instead of 3 GB, 16 GB of storage instead of 32 GB and a lower resolution front camera. There is still no fingerprint sensor though. But how does it fare in the sub 15K market among phones from other manufacturers? The answer is: Pretty well.

Its specs are great for its price and are comparable to the offerings from other manufacturers. The other phone that might offer a little more for your money is the Colors S11 but we think the cameras on the Redmi Note 5A are better.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A

Xiaomi Redmi 4A is a great phone for those who like a small phone. It doesn’t offer much in terms of specs. It is powered by a Snapdragon 425 processor, an entry-level chipset, but you are getting what you are paying for. The processor paired with the 2GB RAM can handle basic tasks very well but no one would buy this phone for gaming. The cameras are good enough in well-lit conditions. And with the help of a 3120 mAh battery, the phone lasts all day. The screen is nothing to write home about. It gets decently bright and the quality of the panel is great for the price.

Xiaomi Redmi 5A

I can write about the Redmi 5A just by replacing the “Redmi 4A” with the “Redmi 5A” in the paragraph that I wrote about the Redmi 4A just above and it would still be a clear truth. That’s what I am doing below.

If you can look past the lack of the fingerprint sensor, this phone gives you a great overall performance for the price. However, if you dearly wish for the fingerprint sensor, you should look at the Colors S11.

Xiaomi Redmi 5

If you want a phone that can fit in a tight budget and also look good while doing that then the Redmi 5 from Xiaomi is for you. This Midrange device from Xiaomi features a tall 18:9 aspect ratio which makes the phone feel modern. On the inside, the phone is a midrange at heart. It features a Snapdragon 450 processor paired with 2/3 GB of RAM and 16/32GB of internal storage. It can handle all your basic apps like facebook and youtube more than well, and it will struggle to play some games like asphalt without dropping any frames.

The performance is commendable especially regarding the price. The 2 GB variant costs 15,999 and the 3 GB variant costs 17,999. We obviously recommend going with the 3 GB variant for it is a better value. If you want to look at other options in the price range, we recommend looking at Vivo Y71 and Huawei Y7 pro before making your decision. Also, don’t forget to look at its bigger brother- the Redmi 5 Plus.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus looks identical to the Redmi 5. But it is a different phone on the inside. The significant update is a slightly larger 5.99 inch 18:9 screen which is now full HD+ so you can view even more content. Also, the battery jumps up from 3300mAh to 4000mAh. You understand that larger battery means longer screen time (i.e. longer battery life). The processor takes a jump too. It now uses Snapdragon 625 instead of the 450 which is a significant leap in performance. You also get a 4GB/64GB option instead of the 2GB/16GB in the Redmi 5.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus performs well and the design looks sharp and modern. The cameras capture impressive photos at well-lit conditions. We have no complaints about its price either. But if you don’t like the Xiaomi MIUI on top of Android you should look at the Xiaomi Mi A1, which contains stock Android and is similar in price and performance to the redmi 5 plus.

Over To You

Xiaomi has a lot of phones in the Nepalese market for every budget segment. We love the Mi A1 for its Android One approach and clean design. It has decent cameras for the price and the performance is very smooth. It is probably one of the best phones you could buy under Rs. 25,000 right now in Nepal.

In the more premium space, we recommend the Xiaomi Mi 6. It has a gorgeous design, killer performance, and amazing build quality. Even at Rs. 44,000, this phone is the best value on this list. On the other hand, we don’t recommend you to buy the Xiaomi Mi 4. It is a very old phone that doesn’t justify its price. You should buy the Xiaomi Redmi 5 instead, or the Redmi 4A, or the Redmi 4X. The options are endless.

These were our thoughts on Xiaomi’s lineup for Nepal. What do you think of the phones from Xiaomi? And which phone are you most willing to buy? Please share your thoughts on comments below.
