Cons

The Redmi 12 has a clean design and brings a glass back which is something that totally caught us by surprise as we don’t usually see it being featured in this price range. There is no camera island on the back and the phone follows Samsung’s DNA of each camera having its own individual place. The phone has a fairly large 6.79 inches display that refreshes at 90Hz and dynamically adjusts according to the content. Brightness however is not very good, peaking at 550 nits, and using the phone outdoors on a bright sunny day is a bit troublesome.

The Helio G88 is a 12nm chipset and powers this phone. It’s an octa-core and decent enough for daily life usage and benchmark scores come around other phones with the same chip. The phone comes in two configurations: 6/128GB and 8/256GB which is pretty amazing considering the price.

The phone has a triple-camera setup with the main camera being a 50MP shooter. The other two are an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro. The photos from the main camera are generally good with daytime shots being sharp and containing good details and decent dynamic range.

The Redmi A2 is an entry-level smartphone from Xiaomi in Nepal that features the Helio G36 chipset and offers better performance compared to its predecessor. However, aside from the upgraded processor, the phone remains identical to the A1.

PRICING

Rs. 10,499 (2/32GB)

Pros

  • Improved performance
  • Optimized OS
  • Large 5000mAh battery

Cons

  • Small storage option
  • 10W charging

The Redmi A2 features a plastic build with a textured finish on the back and has a camera island that houses the dual cameras and the flash. On the front is a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display and a waterdrop notch. It’s an HD+ display at 60Hz and is what you’d expect at this price range.

Powered by the MediaTek Helio G36, this phone comes paired with 2GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 32GB of storage. For those that store their media locally, this phone will run out of space pretty quickly. The G36 is an octa-core processor and should be serviceable in day-to-day activities.

The phone comes with a dual-camera setup where the main camera is an 8MP sensor. The other is an auxiliary lens so you’re gonna be working with only one camera. It won’t be the sharpest, most-detailed photo you’ll ever capture as it’s only 8MP, but hey, at least you’ll have a memory of your special moments.

Redmi A2 Specifications

  • Display: 6.52 inches IPS LCD, 720 x 1600 pixels, 20:9 ratio
  • Chipset: Mediatek Helio G36 (12 nm)
  • CPU: Octa-core (4×2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53)

Pros

  • Good design
  • Impressive primary camera
  • Good display
  • Optimized OS
  • Fingerprint sensor

Cons

  • Slow charging
  • No USB Type-C

The Redmi A2 Plus has a unibody design with a plastic body. It has a textured back panel and flat edges that make the smartphone easy to hold. The rear panel has a dual-camera setup and a fingerprint sensor. The 6.52-inch IPS panel is 720p and has good viewing angles with decent color output. However, it doesn’t get super bright and will struggle under direct sunlight.

Unlike the A1 Plus which was powered by the Helio A22, the A2 Plus gets a Helio G36. It’s an octa-core coupled with 2/3 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 32/64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage technology. Overall the performance is now slow but it’s not fast as well. The low RAM means apps will often reload but the phone is capable enough to run social media and some light gaming.

The phone comes with a dual-camera setup where the main camera is an 8MP sensor. The main sensor is impressive for the price. Photos captured in daylight turn out nice with neutral colors and balanced exposure but the photos won’t have good detail and dynamic range.

  • Solid battery life

Cons

  • Dated Micro-USB port, no USB-C
  • Shipped with Android 12, no latest Android 13
  • Slow charging speed

The build of the phone is average and it comes with a plastic back that has a textured pattern, specifically diagonal stripes. Not all phones priced under 15K provide a fingerprint scanner, so that’s definitely a plus for the Redmi 12C. The display on the Redmi 12C is satisfactory. It has a large 6.71-inch IPS LCD display. It does not support a high refresh rate and is limited to HD+ resolution which is enough for everyday tasks and watching videos. The phone is bright but struggles outdoors directly under the sunlight.

Entry-level phones tend to compromise on the processor but the Redmi 12C breaks away from this trend as it comes equipped with a Helio G85. This chipset is often seen on phones around Rs. 20,000 so it is safe to say that Redmi 12C has the best chipset in its price range. The phone also comes with multiple storage options and it can handle everyday tasks and social media apps effortlessly.

The phone comes with a 50MP main camera. The secondary depth sensor can’t be used for shooting. The shutter is fast and the quality of photos is quite decent. The dynamic range is noticeably poor but for a phone under Rs. 15,000 it is still quite satisfactory.

Redmi 10A

Redmi 10A Summary

redmi 10a

The Redmi 10A is an iteration of the Redmi 9A with an updated design and a slightly better camera. It is a good device with a good display, an impressive rear camera, and a big battery but doesn’t provide the same value as the Redmi 9A did.

PRICING

Rs. 13,999 (2/32GB)

Rs. 15,999 (3/64GB)

Rs. 17,999 (4/64GB)

Pros

  • Good display
  • Nice rear camera
  • Solid build

Cons

  • Performance could be better
  • MIUI still lacks optimization

The Redmi 10A has a sturdy build quality even though it uses plastic. It takes inspiration from the Redmi 10 and also comes with a fingerprint sensor. Xiaomi opted to go for the same IPS panel as the Redmi 9A on the 10A. It’s good for the price and has decent color reproduction.

It is powered by the Helio G25 chipset. The Redmi 10A doesn’t get any updates in this department and comes with a low amount of storage as well. The G25 is only an entry-level chipset and MIUI is one of the heaviest skin out there. It can handle basic tasks like app opening and switching but it won’t be smooth. You can play some light games on the phone but it’s not a good experience.

The dual camera setup is capable of capturing good photos under suitable lighting. The photos are sharp and neutral in color but lack saturation. Indoor shots can be hit or miss as the sharpness takes a dip and noise is also prevalent.

Redmi 10A Specifications

  • Display: 6.53 inches HD+ IPS LCD, 720 x 1600 pixels, 400 nits
  • Chipset: Mediatek Helio G25 (12nm)

Redmi 10A Price in Nepal: Rs. 13,999 (2/32GB) | Rs. 15,999 (3/64GB) | Rs. 17,999 (4/64GB)

The smartphone comes with a 5000mAh battery and can provide up to 9-10 hours of SoT with moderate usage. However, the 10W charging can take over 3 hours to fully charge the phone. The phone ships with Android 11 which is pretty outdated in 2024.

The phone brings some minor changes compared to its predecessor and is a decent option in the budget segment.

Redmi 10C

Redmi 10C Summary

10c

The Redmi 10C is a budget phone powered by the Snapdragon 680 chipset. It’s identical to the Indian Redmi 10—the only difference being the smaller battery, which in turn made the phone lighter.

PRICING

Rs. 18,999 (4/64GB)

Pros

  • UFS 2.2 storage
  • 50MP main camera
  • 5000mAh battery
  • 18W fast charging

Cons

  • HD+ 60Hz display
  • Android 11

The Redmi 10C shares the same design as the Redmi 10. It has a plastic back and a huge black square that houses the cameras and flash. The phone comes with a large display but it’s only HD+ resolution and doesn’t support a high refresh rate. The display has a waterdrop notch which is what is normally expected at this price range.

Under the hood is a Snapdragon 680, it’s a 6nm chipset that’s an octa-core and comes with Adreno 610 GPU. Surprisingly, the phone comes with UFS 2.2 storage but the capacity is quite small at only 64GB. The 4GB LPDDR4X RAM is just about enough for daily tasks and some light gaming.

The dual camera setup comprises a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. So, it’s basically a single-camera setup and the main camera takes decent shots in the daytime. 50MP means the camera can retain a good amount of details and the photos are sharp.

Redmi 10C Specifications

  • Display: 6.71 inches HD+ IPS LCD, 720 x 1650 pixels, 60Hz, 20.6:9 aspect ratio, ~81.7% screen-to-body ratio, ~269 ppi density, Corning Gorilla Glass
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G (6 nm)
  • CPU: Octa-core (4×2.4 GHz Kryo 265 Gold & 4×1.9 GHz Kryo 265 Silver)
  • GPU: Adreno 610
  • Memory: 64GB 4GB RAM, LPDDR4X, UFS 2.2, supports microSD card
  • OS: Android 11, MIUI 13
  • Rear Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8
    • 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth)
    • Video: 1080p@30fps
  • Front Camera: 5 MP, f/2.2
    • Video: 1080p@30fps
  • Battery: Non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery, 18W fast charging support

Redmi 10C Price in Nepal: Rs. 18,999 (4/64GB)

The phone is powered by a 5000mAh battery unlike the 6000mAh of the Redmi 10 and supports 18W fast charging. However, you only get a 10W charger in the box. The phone also comes with Android 11 which is outdated now in 2024.

It’s a budget offering from Redmi and has decent specs but you can get newer, much more value for money, phones now.

Redmi A1

Redmi A1 Summary

redmi a1

If you’re in the market for a smartphone around the under Rs. 15,000 price range, the Redmi A1 is a great option to consider. But keep in mind that the Redmi A1 is an affordable entry-level phone and to limit your expectations.

PRICING

Rs. 11,999 (2/32GB)

Pros

  • Responsive UI
  • Clean Android experience
  • Excellent battery life
  • Sturdy build

Cons

  • Subpar cameras
  • No fingerprint sensor
  • Slow charging speed
  • Low-end processor

It’s no surprise that the device is made of plastic, which doesn’t give it a premium feel. However, the phone feels solid and well-constructed. The textured back also helps to improve the grip and make it easier to hold. The Redmi A1 does not come with a fingerprint sensor which can be a bit annoying in 2024. The phone comes with an HD+ resolution display and it’s not very sharp. It’s decent for indoor use but doesn’t get bright enough for outdoor usage.

The main weakness of this phone comes in its storage. It’s available only in 2/32GB configuration and is powered by the old Helio A22 processor. It’s not very snappy and you can notice delays when using the phone to open apps. It’s still good enough for social media and light games but may struggle with anything more intensive.

The rear has an 8MP main camera and a QVGA auxiliary camera whose purpose is unknown. The quality of the photos is not very good as they lack detail, sharpness, and clarity. Need we say more?

Redmi A1 Specifications

  • Display: 6.52 inches IPS LCD, 720 x 1600 pixels, 400nits (typ.), 70% NTSC, 20:9 ratio
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio A22 (12 nm)

  • Front Camera: 5 MP

  • Battery: Non-removable Li-Po 5000mAh, 10W charging

Redmi A1 Price in Nepal: Rs. 11,999 (2/32GB)

The Redmi A1 has a large 5000mAh battery that can provide up to two days of battery life, so you won’t need to worry about running out of power. However, charging the phone can take well over 3 hours and the phone comes with Android 12 (Go edition) out of the box. There is no bloatware and the software experience is good.

Considering the price, the display is not disappointing, the performance is sufficient for daily use, and the battery life is excellent.

Xiaomi 12 Lite Summary

xiaomi 12 lite

Xiaomi 12 Lite is the Lite version of Xiaomi 12, a flagship phone from Xiaomi. It is also the successor of the Mi 11 Lite 5G NE which was a pretty good phone. The phone provides you with a nice balance of performance, design, and camera.

PRICING

Rs. 50,999 (6/128GB)

Rs. 53,999 (8/128GB)

Pros

  • Good design
  • Impressive camera
  • Amazing display
  • Good performance
  • Fast charging

Cons

  • Ultrawide camera
  • Plastic frame

Xiaomi 12 Lite is a sleek-looking phone with a thickness of 7.29mm and is a pretty light phone that weighs 173g, but with the upgraded display and camera sensor, Xiaomi has had to add bulk to this phone. However, this doesn’t take away anything from its premium design. It borrows the same design elements from Xiaomi 12 with an identical camera setup. Xiaomi 12 Lite comes with a flagship-grade display with a 12-bit color panel, 120Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch response rate. it is also HDR 10+ certified and the panel is bright making it usable even outdoors.

The phone features the same SoC as the 11 Lite 5G NE – the Snapdragon 778G 5G. It is a 6nm chipset with an octa-core CPU and Adreno 624L GPU. It comes in two variants: 6/128GB and 8/128GB with UFS 2.2 storage and LPDDR4X RAM. The Snapdragon 778G is a good performer for the price range and outperforms all alternatives with Snapdragon 600 series chipsets and most of MediaTek’s mid-range offerings as well.

The 12 Lite gets a 108MP main sensor, 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. The main sensor is a good upgrade from its predecessor’s 64MP sensor. The main camera captures excellent photos in daylight with good sharpness and resolves fine details. The dynamic range is quite wide with boosted color and contrast. However, it does struggle to capture details of foliage.

Xiaomi 12 Lite Price in Nepal: Rs. 50,999 (6/128GB) | Rs. 53,999 (8/128GB)

The battery capacity has not been improved on the Xiaomi 12 Lite. It has similar battery life to the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE. The standby time is considerably lower than the Xiaomi 11 Lite but it does provide 5-6 hours of screen on time. The charging speed is quite fast with the 67W fast charger that takes 50 mins for a full charge.

The upgraded display is a huge boost to the Xiaomi 12 Lite and its new camera sensor does a very good job. Along with a dependable Snapdragon 778G chipset, the Xiaomi 12 Lite is definitely one of the best phones under Rs. 55,000.

Redmi 10 2022 Summary

redmi 10 2022

The Redmi 10 2022 is the same phone as the Redmi 10 Prime 2022 and the Redmi 10 Prime from 2021. The phone comes with a 90Hz display and is powered by the famous G88 chipset.

PRICING

Rs. 23,999 (6/128GB)

Pros

  • 90Hz FHD+ Panel
  • Good Performance
  • Good Battery
  • 18W Fast Charging

Cons

  • Average Camera Performance
  • Slightly Expensive

The Redmi 10 2022 is made with plastic rear and plastic frame but the matte finish on the rear makes it look premium for the price. It also has a large camera module at the back which looks overkill. The 6.5-inch IPS LCD 90Hz panel at this price range is pretty common and it may not be AMOLED good, but it’s good and has decent viewing angles as well.

The phone doesn’t get a massive upgrade when it comes to raw performance. It’s using a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset which can easily handle basic tasks like app opening, UI navigation, and multiple apps.

The mobile comes with a quad-camera setup. Yes, you saw that correctly. A quad camera setup. Although, one of them is for depth. The main sensor is a 50MP that does an okay job with great details but subpar colors. The ultrawide loses the details but does a better job with the colors.

Redmi 10 2022 Specifications

  • Display: 6.5 inches FHD+, 2400 x 1080 pixels, 90Hz, LCD, 20:9

Redmi 10 Prime 2022 Summary

Redmi 10 Prime brings a lot of good upgrades over the Redmi 9 Prime. It would have been the best phone if it had launched at the same price as the Redmi 9 Prime when it came out.

Rs. 23,999 (6/128GB)

Pros

  • 90Hz display
  • Huge Battery
  • Good camera setup
  • Stereo speakers

Cons

  • Slightly expensive

In the Redmi 10 Prime 2022, instead of a vertical array of cameras in the top center, we now have a rectangular camera bump in the top left corner. The back is very shiny and is a fingerprint magnet. It’s made out of plastic which makes it prone to scratches. On the front, we have a punch-hole display which looks really neat and is definitely an upgrade over the water-drop notch from the Redmi 9 Prime. It’s nice to see an FHD+ resolution display on the phone that’s being protected by the Gorilla Glass 3.

The phone is equipped with MediaTek Helio G88. This was the first smartphone to come with this chipset. It is an upgrade to the Helio G85 and G80, though spec-wise, it is very similar. But in 2024, it’s quite old. In terms of memory, the phone comes in two variants: 4GB RAM/64GB storage and 6GB RAM/128GB storage.

Redmi 10 Prime has a quad-camera setup comprising a 50MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, it has an 8MP selfie camera.
