Following the global launch of the Redmi Note 12 series in Europe in late March 2023, Xiaomi officially introduced the Redmi Note 12 4G and Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G in Nepal in early April.

The Redmi Note 12 4G is a new addition to the Redmi Note 12 series. When the series was first unveiled in China in October 2022, and in India in January 2023, the series only had 5G models.

Redmi Note 12 4G Overview

Design

Similar to the 12 Pro 5G, the Redmi Note 12 4G has a flat frame and back design. The phone is available in three color variants: onyx gray, ice blue, and mint green.

The back has three camera rings and a flash, all housed on a transparent island. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack, IR blaster, and mic on the top side of the device.

Likewise, the bottom side has a speaker, a USB-C port, and a primary mic. The fingerprint sensor is embedded in the power button located on the right side of the phone, below the volume buttons.

Display

It features a 6.67-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. The 120Hz refresh rate is an upgrade from Redmi Note 11‘s 90Hz.

The display has a punch-hole design notch for the front camera. Xiaomi says it has a peak brightness of 1200 nits. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

Hardware

The Redmi Note 12 is equipped with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 chipset. Built on a 6nm process technology, the octa-core processor features four Cortex-A73 cores at up to 2.8GHz, four Cortex-A53 cores at up to 1.9GHz, and an Adreno 610 GPU.

The smartphone comes with 128/256GB UFS 2.2 storage and 4/6/8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It also has a dedicated slot for a microSD card for storage expansion.
