Following its usual pattern, Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 12 series first in China before launching it in other countries. Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G Overview

Design

The Redmi Note 12 Pro comes in three color options: midnight black, polar white, and ice blue. Unlike the slightly curved back of the Pro Plus model, the Note 12 Pro has flat sides and back.

The top side houses a 3.5mm headphone jack, a speaker, a mic, and an IR blaster. Likewise, the bottom has a speaker, a USB-C port, a mic, and a SIM card tray. The tray sadly does not support a microSD card.

Furthermore, the fingerprint sensor is embedded in the power button on the right side located below the volume buttons. The phone is also IP53 certified for protection against splash and dust.

Display

The phone has a 10-bit 6.67-inch OLED display that supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. It is a Full HD+ display with up to 120Hz refresh rate support.

The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The phone boasts 900 nits of maximum brightness in high brightness mode. Moreover, it also features 1920Hz of PWM dimming.

Hardware

Xiaomi 12 Pro is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset. The recently launched Realme 10 Pro Plus also features the same chipset.

Built on a 6nm process, the processor has two high-performance Cortex A78 CPU cores and six efficient Cortex-A55 CPU cores, and a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU.

The SoC is paired with up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. The 12 Pro also has a dual stereo speaker setup.

Camera

The triple rear camera setup at the back features a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera with OIS accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro camera.

The front has a 16MP selfie camera. The primary camera can shoot up to 4K 30fps video while the front one is limited to 1080p 30fps.

Battery and OS

Fueling the phone is a 5000mAh battery. The device supports 67W fast charging.

In terms of software, the phone runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 12.
