Alongside the Infinix Smart 8 Pro, Infinix launched the Infinix Smart 8 Plus in Nepal. The Smart 8 Plus is one of the three phones in Infinix’s Smart 8 series of smartphones.

What is the Price of the Infinix Smart 8 Plus in Nepal?

The Infinix Smart 8 Plus price in Nepal is Rs. 13,999 for the sole 4/64GB model. The phone is available for purchase at retail stores across the country.

The Infinix Smart 8 Plus is almost identical to the Infinix Smart 8 Pro, in terms of design and other specifications and features it offers. The only major difference is that the 8 Plus has a bigger 6000mAh battery and supports faster 18W charging.

Otherwise, they both are an entry-level phone and comes with a Helio G36 chipset, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 90Hz HD+ LCD display, and a 50MP main camera.

Infinix’s False Advertising

It is important to note that Infinix is misleading consumers by advertising the Smart 8 series as having 8GB RAM, which is more than it actually has.

In reality, both the Infinix Smart 8 Plus and the Smart 8 Pro have 4GB of RAM. However, since the phone supports virtual RAM technology, Infinix is advertising the phone as having 8GB of RAM by combining the virtual RAM and the physical RAM.

The company does put an asterisk after ‘8GB RAM,’ but it seems that Infinix may not fully understand that the purpose of an asterisk in such cases is to serve as a pointer to an explanation note. Although the official Infinix site provides a note, Infinix Nepal does not always specify the actual RAM.

Not only Infinix but lately, more brands have been leaning towards false advertising regarding the RAM size. We request brands to please, at the very least, include a note specifying the physical memory.

Infinix Smart 8 Plus Overview

Design

The Infinix Smart 8 Plus has a plastic build and a large camera module on the back. The camera layout resembles that of the iPhone Pro series, including the latest iPhone 15 Pro Max — but even bigger — with three camera circles arranged on a transparent rounded square island. The rest of the back has a brushed metal finish.

On the right side, there is a power button that also functions as a fingerprint sensor, with a volume rocker positioned above it. Similarly, the mono speaker, USB-C port, a microphone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are located on the bottom side.

Display

The device sports a 6.6-inch IPS LCD display with an HD+ resolution. The display has a peak brightness of 500 nits. Interestingly, it also supports a 90Hz refresh rate and has a modern punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.

Hardware

The Infinix Smart 8 Plus is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G36 chipset. It is an entry-level octa-core processor with Cortex-A53 CPU and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Two CPU cores are clocked at up to 2.2GHz and the rest at up to 1.6GHz.

The processor is paired with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM. The phone supports virtual memory up to 4GB.

Camera

Identical in specs to the Smart 8 Pro, the Smart 8 Plus also comes with a 50MP main camera accompanied by a gimmicky “AI lens” on the rear and a ring-shaped flashlight.

The front has an 8MP selfie camera. The phone is capable of shooting up to 1080p at 30fps.

Battery and OS

In terms of battery, the Infinix Smart 8 Plus brings an improvement over the Smart 8 Pro. The Smart 8 Plus features a huge 6000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging.

It comes with Android 13 (Go edition) out of the box with the XOS 13 skin on top of it. Android Go edition is a lighter version of the Android operating system, designed for low-end smartphones.

Additionally, the Smart 8 Plus has a software feature to show real-time information about charging status and voice calls around the front camera cutout. Infinix is calling this Magic Ring.
