Oppo has slashed the price of the Oppo A38 by Rs. 4,000 in Nepal. Following the launch of the Oppo A58, its younger model the Oppo A38 arrived in Nepal in October 2023. Oppo also announced Rs. 1500 off on the Oppo A18.

The Oppo A38 has what Oppo calls its Glow Design. There is a pill-shaped design with a glossy finish that expands through the two rear camera rings placed vertically.

The phone is also rated IP54 for protection against dust and water. The power button also serves as a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.

For the phone, Oppo has also done stress testing where they claim the phone passed tests of 20,000 USB Plug-ins, 150,000 Volume button tests, and 500,000 power button tests.

You can get the phone in two color options: Glowing Black and Glowing Gold.

The HD+ IPS LCD measures 6.56 inches diagonally. It’s a HD+ resolution display with a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels and the phone has a notch for the front camera and the bezels also look on the thicker side.

Oppo claims the 90Hz display has a brightness of up to 720 nits and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut.

Hardware

Powering the Oppo A38 4G is a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, which is built on a 12nm process technology. While it’s a decent budget chipset, the market now offers more capable processors in a comparable price range. Oppo has certified the phone for 36-month fluency tests as well.

Helio G85 has two Arm Cortex-A75 performance cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz and six Arm Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 1.8GHz. For graphics handling, the SoC includes a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. The processor is paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB of eMMC 5.1 storage.

While there is a dual rear camera setup, the Oppo A38 4G has only one usable main camera with a 50MP sensor and an f/1.8 aperture lens. The other one is a 2MP depth sensor.

On the front, there is a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture lens. For videos, both the front and back cameras are capable of shooting up to 1080p video at 30fps.

The battery on the Oppo A38 has a standard 5000mAh capacity. The charging speed is really good for the price with support for 33W SuperVOOC charging technology.

The smartphone runs on Android 13, out of the box, with ColorOS 13.1 on top.
