But, don’t you think there are too many smartphones out there and it’s hard to decide which phone to buy under Rs. 30,000 in Nepal?

Prices may Vary

Choosing Phones Under 30000 in Nepal 2024

Whether you are a tech wizard or someone who has no idea about technology at all, we hope to help you out either way. Below is a list of qualities that are generally considered to be the pillars of a good mobile under 30000 in Nepal.

Now remember, some phones may be good at one thing and bad at the other. We’ll base our list on these pillars and choose the phones that provide an overall value that’s worthy of your money.

Build Quality

Everyone would love to see a metal frame and ceramic back on their phones, but not all phones are the same.

Still, you can expect plastic frames and plastic/glass back panels in most smartphones under Rs. 30000 in Nepal. They’re of good quality and made from durable materials.

Display

A higher resolution means a sharper display, a higher refresh rate means a faster display, and higher brightness means, well, the display can get bright.

On smartphones with display sizes ranging from 6″ to 6.9″, FHD+ resolution is usually considered the sweet spot and you should look for faster refresh rates as well.

Performance

The chip is what drives the smartphone and is probably the most confusing part for anyone who is shopping for one.

Generally, you can look at the clock speed and core count to make a vague estimation of the quality and performance of the chip. If you’re not convinced, you can read our review for the full details.

Camera

It’s a bit difficult to confidently say if a phone takes good photos as much of it is software-based optimizations now. You can read our reviews or look at a brand’s reputation for image processing.

The technology has improved to the point that most phones take really good photos given good lighting conditions, you can expect phones in this price range to take good daylight photos with usable night shots.

Battery

The general notion is that a larger battery will last longer. At least a capacity of 4500mAh has seemed to become the norm, even among budget phones. So, you can expect phones with similar or more battery capacity in this price segment.

Also, 30W to 60W is considered fast charging and you can expect over 30W to be the norm in this price category.

The display of the Redmi Note 12 outshines its competitors with its vibrant colors and deep blacks, thanks to its superior AMOLED panel. Furthermore, it refreshes at 120Hz and the phone feels fluid.

The battery life of the Redmi Note 12 is great. A full charge of the battery can easily provide over a day of battery life. It supports 33W fast charging, which can charge over 50% in just around 30 minutes.

Reasons to Avoid

The Redmi Note 12 4G is the first smartphone to come with the Snapdragon 685 SoC. However, when it comes to performance upgrades, the chipset does not offer a significant boost and the device’s performance limitations become noticeable when running resource-heavy apps, particularly gaming. In terms of gaming performance, it falls short compared to other impressive aspects of the phone.

The ultrawide photos are also average for the price. While the colors appear natural, there is a noticeable lack of sharpness and details.

With a quadruple-camera setup and a 108MP main camera, the phone takes good photos. The ultrawide could’ve been better and the macro and depth feel like they’re there to make up the numbers.

You get a 5000mAh battery which is fairly large and the phone will easily last a day of usage. Also, you get 33W fast charging support with the phone which is also pretty great.

Reasons to Avoid

The phone comes with a Helio G96 chipset. It’s a 12 nm-based chipset with 2x Cortex-A76 at 2050 MHz and 6x Cortex-A55 at 2000 MHz. At this price, you can get better chipsets that offer more performance per buck.

As the Redmi Note 11S was released in 2022, it featured Android 11 out of the box. You’re not very likely to get even Android 14 on the phone which is a bummer.

#3. Realme 10

Realme 10 Verdict

realme 10

The Realme 10 4G was launched in late 2022 and is not perfect. But, it does bring good features while making small compromises. It’s still a great phone for the price despite its shortcomings and thus reaches this spot on our list. It offers good performance and battery life but the lack of an ultrawide is a downer.

PRICING

Rs. 29,999 (8/128GB)

Pros

  • Good design
  • Smooth 90Hz display
  • Decent Performance
  • Incredible battery performance

Cons

  • Lacks ultrawide camera
  • Poor camera performance
  • Realme UI software experience

Reasons to Buy

The Realme 10 has a good design. It is made up of plastic, but the build is quite good. Realme calls their design the “Light Particle Design” which uses individual camera rings and particle finish on the back panel.

The smartphone dons a 90Hz FHD Super AMOLED panel which is quite incredible. Brightness is not the best, but the overall quality of the display, and colors is good for the price.

The phone is a performance champ as it has the Helio G99 chipset. Helio G99 is an updated version of the Helio G95 chipset and offers performance increments with it. With this chipset, you can easily game on this phone and well, daily tasks are a breeze as well.

You get a large 5000mAh battery with a 33W fast charging and the phone can fully charge in just over an hour. Even with heavy usage, the battery life is quite incredible.

Reasons to Avoid

The camera department is not its strong suit. The main camera is mediocre and the ultrawide is downright absent. As for videos, they lack stabilization but hey, at least it’s 1080p@60fps.

The software experience is also not that great. While the software performance and optimization are quite well, the bloatware and constant ads can get pretty annoying quickly.

#2. Redmi Note 12 5G

Redmi Note 12 5G Verdict

redmi note 12 5g

Making its way on our list again is the Redmi Note 12. The 5G variant to be precise. It’s pretty similar to the 4G one but brings performance upgrades and some design changes. Overall, the phone still provides a good value for money and you can’t go wrong with either variant.

PRICING

Rs. 29,999 (6/128GB)

Rs. 31,999 (8/256GB)

Pros

  • Decent design
  • Nice display
  • Good performance
  • Good main camera
  • Nice battery performance

Cons

  • No 4K recording
  • Android 12 out of the box

Reasons to Buy

The Redmi Note 12 5G variant is strikingly similar to the 4G variant. It features similar design elements but has separated itself with a curved back and slight changes in the camera module. Overall, if you liked the design of the 4G variant, you will like it here as well.

The Note 12 5G brings improvement to performance over the 4G variant. It features a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset and daily life tasks are buttery smooth and even gaming is pretty decent with the phone.

The phone comes with a 48MP main camera and while it may be a tad bit lacking in sharpness, the overall quality of images with colors and contrast come out good.

You get a large 5000mAh which supports 33W fast charging. The phone should last over a day of usage easily with Xiaomi’s battery management.

Reasons to Avoid

The phone comes with Android 12 out of the box with MIUI 14 on top. The phone has received an update to Android 13 but will likely only get 1 more update to Android 14.

We expected the phone to shoot 4K or maybe even 1080p@60fps but videos are limited to 1080p@30fps, which is a shame.

#1. Samsung Galaxy A24

Samsung Galaxy A24 Verdict

galaxy A24

Samsung A24 is our choice for the best phones under 30000 in Nepal. A24 is a well-balanced phone. Plus, it is the best camera smartphone under Rs. 30,000. Except for the outdated dew-drop notch and the exclusion of a charger in the box, this phone is an absolute gem for the price.

PRICING

Rs. 28,999 (6/128GB)

Rs. 31,999 (8/128GB)

Pros

  • Good design
  • Impressive primary camera
  • Awesome display
  • Android 13 out of the box
  • Good performance

Cons

  • No charger in the box
  • No 4K video recording
  • Dew-drop notch

Reasons to Buy

Samsung has slapped a similar design structure to the S-series phones on the A24. The back panel is made out of plastic but looks like glass at first glance. The display looks sharp which makes for an enjoyable content viewing experience. It is a 1080p panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and 1000 nits of peak brightness. There is no support for HDR though.

The main camera is a 50MP f1.8 sensor and is not exceptional but it is good for the price. The dynamic range is wide and the exposure is balanced as well. Likewise, the photos have Samsung’s signature saturated color profile.

Samsung A24 comes with a 5000mAh battery and 25W fast charging. In moderate usage, the A24 can last more than a day with 6-7 hours of screen time.

The Samsung A24 comes with a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset. It is certainly one of the best chipsets on a smartphone under Rs. 30,000.

Reasons to Avoid

Well, it is the best mobile under 30000 in Nepal so we’re gonna have to nitpick a bit. Samsung doesn’t include a charger in the box of A24. The phone supports 25W fast charging but you’ll have to get that separately.

The front has a dew-drop notch which looks outdated and takes away from the otherwise good design of the phone. Even cheaper phones have started implementing hole-punch cutout so Samsung might wanna copy that for once.
