Redmi Note 12 5G with Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 Launched in Nepal

Xiaomi today launched another phone in its Redmi Note 12 lineup, namely the Redmi Note 12 5G. This is the 5G variant of the Redmi Note 12 4G, which was launched in Nepal in early April along with the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G.

In this article, we will explore the specifications and features of the Redmi Note 12 5G.

The specifications of the Redmi Note 12 5G are similar to its 4G counterpart, with the only major difference being the use of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset instead of the Snapdragon 685.

Redmi Note 12 5G Overview

Design

Starting with the design, the Redmi Note 12 5G has a curved back compared to the flat one on the Note 12 4G. The device is available in three colors: onyx gray, ice blue, and forest green.

The back of the Note 12 5G has a similar transparent camera island as the Note 12 4G with three cameras and a flash. However, the position of the macro camera and the flash is swapped, and the flash is pill-shaped instead of a circle.

On the top side of the device, you’ll find a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IR blaster, and a microphone. Similarly, the bottom side features a speaker, a USB-C port, and a primary microphone.

Additionally, the phone supports a microSD card through a hybrid SIM card slot. The fingerprint sensor is embedded in the power button, which is located on the right side of the phone, below the volume buttons.

Display

The phone sports a 6.67-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate support.

Xiaomi claims the display has a peak brightness of 1200 nits. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

Hardware

The Redmi Note 12 5G is equipped with a 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset. This chipset features two Arm Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz, along with six Arm Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 1.8GHz. Additionally, it comes with an Adreno 619 GPU.

Due to this processor, the 5G variant supports Bluetooth 5.1, in contrast to the Redmi Note 12 4G, which supports Bluetooth 5.0.

In terms of memory, the device offers two variants: 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, and 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

Camera

At the rear, the phone features a triple camera setup consisting of a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera.

On the front, there is a 13MP selfie camera. Both the front and rear cameras of the phone are capable of recording up to 1080p video at 30fps.

Battery and OS

The Redmi Note 12 4G is powered by a 5000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. The phone comes with a compatible charger included in the box.

Out of the box, the smartphone runs on MIUI 14 (global), which is based on Android 12. On the other hand, the 4G model runs on Android 13 as its default operating system.

Redmi Note 12 5G Price in Nepal and Availability

The Redmi Note 12 5G price in Nepal is Rs. 29,999 (6/128GB) and Rs. 31,999 (8/256GB). The phone will be available for purchase at Mi stores and Xiaomi-authorized retail stores nationwide from June 11, 2023.

The Redmi Note 12 5G serves as the 5G variant of the Redmi Note 12 4G. The main difference between the two is the processor. The 5G model uses the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, while the 4G model uses the Snapdragon 685.

There are a few other changes as well. The 5G model has a curved design and a 48MP main camera instead of 50MP. It also runs on the older Android 12, while the 4G version runs on Android 13.

However, most of the other specifications are the same. Both models have a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, similar button placements, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 5000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging.
