iPhone 15 Price Drops! Should You Even Consider Getting It Right Now?

The iPhone 15 has been available for quite some time now, and after dropping to its lowest-ever price, it shot right back up. Maybe because of rising dollar prices, or maybe because every other phone’s prices were going up, and the distributor thought they could do the same for iPhones — the holy grail of all phones.

I don’t even know why iPhone 15 — a phone nearly four years old at that point in time — was getting a price hike. Whatever the reason might be, what I know now is its price just dropped. Yay!

What is the Price of the iPhone 15 in Nepal?

The iPhone 15 price in Nepal is now Rs. 1,19,499 once again for the sole remaining 128GB variant. This is the second time this phone is being sold at this price. Let’s quickly recap what happened.

The iPhone 15 launched at a starting price of Rs. 1,57,500, and it eventually dropped to its lowest price of Rs. 1,07,799 by December 2025. It then got a slight price hike of a couple of thousand before a sudden jump of nearly Rs. 18,000 in July 2026. But the distributor also ran a cashback offer at the same time to soften the blow. That’s when the iPhone 15 was Rs. 1,19,499 for the first time.

Then the offer ended, and it retailed for Rs. 1,27,499 for some time. It received a price cut again, finally bringing us to where we are. We’re running in circles over here, folks!

There’s still a solid chance that I missed a pricing update or two. iPhone prices really be fluctuating more than Kathmandu weather these days. You can grab the iPhone 15 at authorized stores like Oliz Store and EvoStore.

It seems like ages ago when Apple hosted its Wonderlust event on September 12, 2023, where it announced the new iPhone 15 series along with its other products. And the phone did offer some major upgrades, like the addition of USB-C and Dynamic Island.

But what about performance and the rest? Let’s dive into the iPhone 15 and find out:

iPhone 15 Overview

Design

The iPhone 15 features an Aluminum frame along with a Ceramic Shield front. Apple claimed that the front of the phone was tougher than any other smartphone glass at the time. The IP68-rated phone weighs just 171 grams, making it lighter than the previous iPhone 14 by a gram. It’s also a bit smaller, with the sides being shaved off ever so slightly.

The back is a color-infused glass, and the phone is available in 5 color options: Black, Blue, and Pink.

The iPhone 15 also gets the Dynamic Island, previously exclusive to the Pro models. For those of you still not familiar with it, the notch of the phone transforms into an island to display alerts and live activities like tracking your ride, seeing who’s calling, and much more.

It was clear Apple software magic that other brands were very quick to copy, rebrand into “Live Island”, “Super Island”, “Live Capsule”, and whatnot, and present as if it were a feature they concocted. We may say Apple doesn’t innovate, but they still are the trendsetter.

Display

The display is a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel. The display quality is immaculate as you’d expect from an iPhone. What’s not so great is the 60Hz refresh rate. It really is a shame to see a basic refresh rate on a flagship-grade phone. Other than that, the display is top-class.

It features P3 Wide color along with a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating to keep the display clean. The phone also peaks at 2000 nits of brightness outdoors under sunlight. The 1197×2556 resolution nets a PPI count of 460, making the display super sharp.

However, the Always-on display is not available on this non-Pro model.

Hardware

The iPhone 15 has the A16 Bionic from the previous generation of Pro models. The performance of the A16 is something we’ve already seen, so we’ll not talk much about it. Just know that this 4 nm-based Hexa Core (2×3.46 GHz Everest + 4×2.02 GHz Sawtooth) is one of the best in the business.

The phone came in 3 storage options: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, out of which only the base model is available for purchase.

Camera

The iPhone 15 features a dual camera setup. A 48 MP ƒ/1.6 main sensor and a 12MP ƒ/2.4 120˚ ultrawide. While the phone doesn’t get a telephoto lens, the main camera shoots really high-resolution images, so you can crop in 2x and still retain good-quality images. However, it won’t and can’t really compare to optical zoom.

The Photonic Engine is also available in this model, and normal photos with living subjects will retain depth information so that the image can be “converted” into a portrait image later on. We all know how good the cameras and images on the iPhone are. The trend continues with the iPhone 15 as well.

For videos, the 15 can’t shoot 10-bit HDR videos or ProRes like the Pros, but it is a capable 4K@60fps shooter with Dolby Vision HDR.

The front has a 12MP ƒ1.9 camera and can shoot up to 4K@60fps videos.

Battery and OS

Apple hasn’t specified the capacity of the battery, but has claimed that the phone can last up to 20 hours of Video playback and up to 80 hours of Audio playback.

But with the phone having sat on shelves for so long, I would not expect the phone to last as much as it would have if it were in mint condition. That’s something you need to be aware of if you are getting the iPhone 15 right now!

The phone supports 7.5W Qi wireless charging and MagSafe wireless charging up to 15W, just like the Pro models of the time. Apple also claims a 50% charge in around 30 minutes with a 20W adapter (sold separately).

The smartphone shipped with iOS 17 out of the box, but you should get the latest iOS 27 update as soon as you connect it to the internet. Don’t worry, Apple hasn’t pushed 10 updates as the version numbers suggest.

They just switched things up after iOS 18, so the version number would be the same as the upcoming year. That said, you would still be jumping four OS versions. So don’t be surprised if your new iPhone doesn’t feel as snappy and smooth as you expected.

iPhone 15 Price in Nepal and Availability

The iPhone 15 price in Nepal now sits at Rs. 1,19,499 (128GB). The phone is available for purchase at authorized stores like Oliz Store and Evo Store.

If you are thinking of getting a brand new iPhone 15 right now, then first of all, why would you do that? We have already gone through some complications you might face, like battery life not being as good, the phone feeling slower, and so on. This phone does not even get access to Apple Intelligence, if that’s something you even want to try.

All in all, the iPhone 15 isn’t really the best use of your money right now, especially with the 128GB storage. But here also lies the contradiction. Because iPhones are so well-built machines, you will likely be fine for years to come. People really do use iPhones for a really, really long time.

So, if you want a brand new iPhone and your budget is Rs. 1,20,000, then this is the only option. But if you are fine with something that’s not an iPhone, then you would perhaps like the Samsung Galaxy S26 FE at a similar price, similar brand value, and all.

If you are fine branching out from the Apple-Samsung duopoly, then the OnePlus 15R and OnePlus 13s both might still be up your alley. Beyond that, there still are good phones, but we will be reaching out to phones from Chinese brands like Honor and POCO that you might not be as interested in.
