Bajaj Auto has continued to evolve with strategic alliances, including a technical assistance agreement with Kawasaki in 1984 and acquiring a stake in KTM in 2007. While the Kawasaki sales and service partnership in India ended in 2017, the company has transitioned those dealerships into KTM outlets. Interestingly, the strategic collaboration further diversifies its interests with Triumph Motorcycles in 2017 and Yulu in 2019.

Bajaj Dominar 400 BS6
Bajaj Dominar 400 BS6 with Touring Accessories

Bajaj Dominar 400 maintains a good balance between performance and price, offering kickass performance almost comparable to the premium offerings!

Feature wise, the Dominar 400 comes with features like Assist and Slipper Clutch, USD Forks, and Dual Channel ABS. It is also more friendly with Touring Accessories like an Enhanced Leg Guard, Engine Bash Plate, Carrier, Back Stopper, Tall Visor, and Navigation Stay.

However, Bajaj’s sport-tourer struggles with the hefty 192 kg weight, limiting its full potential, especially in tight corners and slow traffic.

And to add to that, touring accessories only add to the weight challenge for the 370cc engine.

However, the Bajaj Dominar 400 still appeals by offering a similar experience at a more affordable price.

Bajaj Dominar 250 Summary

Bajaj Dominar 250

The Bajaj Dominar 250 brings the larger Dominar 400 platform to a more reasonable level. It carries the Dominar styling, trying to balance performance, comfort, and affordability with a punchy engine, upright riding posture, and decent feature list. While it is a good commuting and touring option, the heavier weight is still restrictive towards quick maneuvering and flexibility, which unfortunately holds the Dominar 250 from reaching its true potential.

Bajaj Dominar 250 comes in two variants with very interesting pricing. Right now, the newer BS6 version costs less than the older BS4 version.

This makes recommending the Bajaj Dominar 250 BS6 a whole lot easier. It offers a fuel-efficient engine with modern BS6 compliance, affordable pricing, and practical features. However, the overall offering could have been better. Bajaj could have focused more on integrating the touring elements and reducing the overall weight.

BS6 Rs. 549900
BS4 Rs. 567900

Bajaj Dominar 250 rivals Yamaha FZ25.

Both the Bajaj and Yamaha aim to provide a rider-friendly tourer. Interestingly enough, the Yamaha FZ25 is a bit more budget-friendly option that offers a better ride experience with lighter curb weight. Whereas, the Bajaj Dominar 250 has better hardware and specs. Unfortunately, it is difficult to recommend the Dominar 250 because of its premium price tag and heavier kerb weight.

If you want a functional and practical Bajaj tourer, then the Bajaj Pulsar N250 would be more reasonable option!

Bajaj Pulsar NS400

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 Summary

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is the latest flagship in the Pulsar lineup, arriving nearly two decades after the launch of the iconic NS200. This middleweight powerhouse is the largest and most advanced Pulsar ever built, yet it maintains a surprisingly affordable price tag. With muscular styling inspired by the Dominar, NS200, and N250, it exudes a bold and aggressive presence. The NS400 is powered by the engine from the Dominar 400, but with an all-new engine mapping, a redesigned subframe, a new swingarm, and enhanced electronics such as Ride-By-Wire, Traction Control System, and Ride Modes, . While it may not be a ferocious beast that overwhelms riders, the NS400 delivers an exhilarating and refined performance that is both thrilling and accessible.

PRICING

Rs. 5,59,900

Pros

  • Muscular Aesthetics
  • Redesigned 373.27 cc Engine
  • Ride-By-Wire, Traction Control, Slipper Clutch, Ride Modes

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 Side Styling

It is powered by the 373.27cc, Single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 4-valve, Liquid-cooled DOHC with DLC Coated FI engine. It generates a max power of 40PS at 8800rpm and a max torque of 35Nm at 6500rpm. Moreover, it is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a Slipper Clutch!

The Pulsar NS400 borrows the engine from the Dominar but has been remapped for a sportier power delivery, offering quicker throttle response and a more engaging riding experience. It sports aggressive naked sports styling with an LED Projector Headlamp with Signature LED Lighting Bolt DRLs, LED Tail Lamp, a Digital Color Instrument Cluster with Blue-lit Informative Display, Under Belly Exhaust, Split Seat Setup, and a Single-Piece Handlebar. Moreover, the safety features include a Slipper Clutch, Traction Control, Ride-by-Wire and Dual Disc Brakes with Dual-Channel ABS.

The addition of the NS400 fills the gap in the middleweight segment of the Bajaj lineup, which the Dominar couldn’t fully capture with its touring-oriented design. However, the bike could have benefited from better vibration dampening, as this has been an inherent issue in the Pulsar series.

Two decades ago, the NS200 revolutionized the motorbiking scene by delivering a sporty design and thrilling performance at an accessible price point. Now, the NS400 is following in its footsteps, offering a powerful, well-equipped middleweight option that once again redefines value for money in the segment.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 Price in Nepal 2024
Bajaj Pulsar NS400 Rs. 559900

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400 hits the mark where the Dominar 400 fell short. While both bikes share the same engine, the NS400 features a remapped engine with an updated ECU, along with a new subframe and swingarm.

Despite these updates, the power output remains identical for both models. What sets the NS400 apart are the additional features it offers, such as a Traction Control System and Ride-By-Wire technology, which the Dominar 400 lacks.

Even more impressive, it comes at a price that is Rs. 54,000 lower than the Dominar.

Weighing nearly 20 kg less, the NS400 boasts better maneuverability. Staying true to the NS lineage, it is designed as a performance machine, while the Dominar 400, with its raised handlebars, more upright seating position, and touring-friendly features, leans more towards the sports tourer category.

That being said, the NS400 is versatile enough to handle touring duties as well. With the right accessories, it can transform into a capable tourer.

So, whether you prioritize performance or versatility, the NS400 offers compelling reasons to choose it over the Dominar 400.

All things considered, Bajaj Nepal has priced it aggressively. It packs in enough performance, looks, and features to help it stand out among the competition.

However, the missing elements like the lack of a USD Fork, Rear Radial Tyre, and Smartphone Bluetooth Connectivity are a bit disappointing. Fortunately, Bajaj India has addressed these shortcomings in the 2024 Bajaj Pulsar N250. While the Pulsar N250 in Nepal is already a good package now, the upgrades will make it better down the line.

Bajaj Pulsar N250 Price in Nepal 2024

Bajaj Pulsar N250 rivals Yamaha FZ25 and Suzuki Gixxer 250.

The Pulsar N250 is the newest 250cc naked sport in the bunch. Therefore, it includes a modern BS6-compliant FI Engine, all-LED setup, Assisted Slipper Clutch, USB Charging Port, and more. However, the Gixxer 250 does have a slight edge with its 6-speed Gearbox and Radial Tyres. Whereas, the FZ25 is the least appealing one in terms of styling, features, and performance.

Nevertheless, all three 250cc naked sports are excellent for their class. While the Bajaj Pulsar 250 would be my go-to choice, the other two Japanese offerings still hold a strong value.

  • Missing Kick Starter and Gear Indicator

Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise is a 220cc cruiser bike in Nepal.

It is powered by a 220cc, Single-Cylinder, Oil-cooled, DTS-i engine. It generates a max power of 19.03PS at 8400rpm and a max torque of 17.5Nm at 7000rpm. Moreover, it is mated to a 5-speed gearbox with a 13-liter fuel tank capacity.

Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise
Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise

Avenger Cruise 220 has trademark cruiser styling with its high-mounted handlebars, relaxed riding position, and chromed finish.

It offers a Halogen Headlamp with LED DRLs, a Halogen Taillamp with the Halo Effect, Updated Graphics, a Digital Instrument Cluster, and a Larger Windshield, Spoke Wheels with Super Wide Tyres, and Low and Long Seats. However, it only gets a Front Disc and Rear Braking configuration which makes the overall safety feel a bit barebone.

Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise Feature Highlights

  • Oil-Cooled DTSI Engine
  • Halogen Headlamp with LED DRLs
  • Halogen Taillamp with Halo Effect
  • Updated Graphics
  • Larger Windshield as Standard
  • Digital Instrument Cluster
  • Cruiser Styling with Classic Elements
  • Standard Braking
  • Spoke Wheels with Super Wide Tyres
  • Low and Long Seat

Avenger 220 offers a relaxed riding experience, especially with its low seat height, forward-set pegs, and plush seat. However, the long wheelbase does make tight maneuvering a bit tricky. Moreover, the braking performance is average at best as it misses out on both Dual Disc setup and ABS of any kind! Additionally, the lack of Kickstarter for a Carburetor engine feels out of place.

Despite the higher asking price, the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise is still a relatively a budget-friendly cruiser. However, the lack of modern features does hurt its overall appeal.

Bajaj Avenger 220 Price in Nepal 2024
Bajaj Avenger 220 Rs. 416900

Because of the lack of cruisers in the Nepali market, the Bajaj Avenger 220 has a monopoly in the cruiser segment. Despite the monopoly, it continues to present a good offering, giving riders a stress-free riding experience, focusing on refined performance and ride quality.

This is why the Bajaj Avenger 220 continues to be a leading premium curiser in Nepal, despite the lack of modern features.

BS4 ABS Rs. 330900

Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 rivals the Bajaj Pulsar N160.

Thanks to the new update, there is a strong rivalry between the Pulsar siblings! Both Pulsars are quite fun and offer a better-value-for-money proposition. However, the Pulsar N160 is a modern Pulsar between the two, offering a new engine on a new platform. Moreover, the wider torque band makes pickup more accessible which ultimately makes city commutes fun!

However, it lacks the precision-cut handling and rev-happy nature offered in the Pulsar NS 160. The Pulsar N160 is a better package, but the Pulsar NS 160 is more engaging and iconic.

Bajaj Avenger 160 Street

Bajaj Avenger 160 Summary

Avenger Street

The Bajaj Avenger 160 Street is the second cruiser motorcycle on this list. It is known for its excellent build, comfortable riding posture, and decent fuel economy. However, the 160cc engine may feel limiting when cruising on the highways. More importantly, it gets a traditional Disc/Drum braking configuration with Single-Channel ABS. Unfortunately, Bajaj should have included a Dual Disc setup at this price point or done something different to make Avenger 160 Street a bit more unique.

PRICING

Rs. 3,73,900

Pros

  • Sporty Street Cruiser Design
  • Premium Metal Build
  • Single-Channel ABS as Standard

Cons

  • Older BS4-compliant Engine
  • Lack of Rear Disc Option
  • Underwhelming Performance for the Price

Bajaj Avenger 160 Street is the second cruiser.

It is powered by a 160.37cc, Single-cylinder, 2-valve, Air-cooled, DTS-I Engine. It generates a max power of 15PS at 8500rpm and a max torque of 13.5Nm at 7000rpm. Moreover, it is mated to a 5-speed gearbox with a 13-liter fuel tank capacity.

Bajaj Avenger Street 160 ABS - Ebony Black
Bajaj Avenger Street 160 ABS

Compared to its bigger 220cc sibling, Avenger 160 Street has more street-focused aesthetics. It features a Roadster-Style Headlamp with LED DRL, Street-Control Handlebars, and a low-slung seat for a Premium Cruiser Feel. However, the safety feature includes Standard Disc/Drum Braking with Single-Channel ABS.

While it does get a Single-channel ABS as standard, there are no noteworthy points to make this cruiser stand out. Yet, it still costs over Rs. 3.70 Lakhs for the rear Drum variant with no Disc option!

Bajaj Avenger Street 160 ABS Feature Highlights

  • Sportster Design
  • 160cc DTS-I Engine
  • Roadster Style Headlamp with LED DRL
  • Street Control Handlebars
  • Low Sung Seat
  • Well-Cushioned Seat
  • Standard Braking
  • Single-Channel ABS
  • Wider Rear Tyres
  • Premium Cruiser Feel

Bajaj Avenger 160 Street is a beginner-friendly cruiser motorcycle. It continues to be popular for its comfortable riding posture, stylish design, and decent fuel economy.

It is a great choice for beginners due to its low seat height and easy maintenance.

However, the 160cc engine with metallic build bottlenecks the performance, especially during high-speed or aggressive riding scenarios. Moreover, the lack of a Digital Meter, LED Headlamp, Dual Disc Braking, and other relevant modern features does not improve its appeal.

Bajaj Avenger 160 Price in Nepal 2024
Bajaj Avenger 160 Rs. 373900

Bajaj Avenger 160 Street rivals the Suzuki Intruder.

There are considerable differences between the two cruisers. Bajaj Avenger feels more premium with the metal finish, relatively easy handling, and sporty design. However, it lacks torque, falling flat in city riding conditions. Furthermore, the rear brake comes with ridiculously lackluster performance.

In contrast, there are considerable improvements in Suzuki Intruder. The engine feels more punchy and torque-heavy, making the ride feel more alive and enjoyable. Moreover, the dual-disc brakes are really good!

In terms of design and practicality, Bajaj Avenger 160 ABS looks relatively more promising. In terms of performance and braking, Suzuki Intruder 150 comes out on top.

Bajaj Avenger 160 Street Specifications

  • Engine Type: Single-Cylinder, 2-valve, Air-Cooled, DTS-I

While does nail down the overall styling and features, it opts out from a Dual-Disc setup. Instead, the Pulsar N150 sports a Front Disc and Rear Drum Braking with Single-Channel ABS. While the overall configuration is great, it seems like an unnecessary cost-cutting.

There is a heavy design similarity between the N150 and N160. However, the Pulsar N150 features a Single-Seat Setup, Single Grab Rail, and Thinner Tyre Profile.

It carefully positions itself between the Bajaj Pulsar N160 and the Bajaj Pulsar 150, offering the best of both worlds with its level of equipment and upgrades.

It introduces the Torque-On-Demand feature, providing a wider torque band with 90% of peak torque available in a useful RPM range. The refined gear shifting includes a damper for improved noise and vibration characteristics.

Everything is all well and good, but the only visible downside is the absence of a disc brake on the rear wheel.

The Bajaj Pulsar N150 has a distinct advantage over the Yamaha FZS v2. The Pulsar N150 is the latest offering with a BS6-compliant engine, LED projector setup, informative digital meter, and more.

Whereas, the Yamaha FZS v2 hasn’t changed much in terms of overall offering. It is still the same package with the same features, the same graphics, and the same BS4-compliant engine.

However, it costs more than the newer and better Pulsar. On a direct comparison, the newer Pulsar N150 offers comprehensive features with ABS!

On the contrary, the Apache RTR 160 2V wins in performance and sheer load of features with an LED setup, Informative Digital Meter, and Larger Engine Displacement.

However, the Bajaj Pulsar 150 maintains its popularity by offering a refined engine and better value retention in the secondary market.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 follows the iconic NS badging to set a new standard for the 125cc segment. It has the charm of the NS offering with its aggressive design, practical performance, and subtle suspension setup. However, a few shortcomings and reasonable cost-cutting measures keep it from being the perfect Pulsar in name and responsibility. Nonetheless, those shortcomings do not necessarily take away from its overall offering.

The length has decreased whereas the width and height have increased. Despite the smaller profile, the ground clearance is slightly taller.

Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 Rs. 293900

Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 rivals against the TVS Raider 125.

TVS Raider continues to set standards for affordability, features, and performance. It has better specs, better features, and a better value-for-money offering. Plus, the engine refinement and sound are on an entirely new level. However, it is smaller in dimension compared to the Bajaj Pulsar NS 125.

That is where the Pulsar NS 125 shines the best. It is both muscular and aggressive, borrowing from its past legacies that simply cannot be matched.

Bajaj Pulsar 125 Summary

Pulsar 125 Price in Nepal

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 brings the iconic Pulsar 150 styling into the 125cc segment. It offers the same level of packaging that made the original Pulsar ever so popular. It gets the same sporty design, good fuel efficiency, and affordability. More importantly, it prioritizes a smooth ride experience with its class-leading engine and comfortable seats. However, the overall appeal of the Pulsar 125 has faded with the growing competition in its segment.

Pros

  • Iconic Pulsar Styling
  • 125cc Refined DTS-i Engine
  • Affordable Pricing

Cons

  • Lack of Exciting Features
  • Outdated Analog Digital Meter
  • BS4 Carburetor Engine

Bajaj Pulsar 125 is the most affordable 125cc Pulsar bike in the Nepali market.

It is powered by a 124.4cc, Single-Cylinder, Air-Cooled, DTS-I Engine. It generates a max power of 11.8PS at 8500rpm and a max torque of 10.8Nm at 6500rpm. Moreover, it is mated to a 5-speed gearbox with an 11.5L fuel tank.

Bajaj Pulsar 125
Bajaj Pulsar 125

While the Bajaj Pulsar 125 shares styling similarities with the Bajaj Pulsar 150, there are considerable differences between the two.

The affordable Pulsar 125 sports a smaller 125cc Engine, Thinner Tyres, a Slimmer Front Fork, a Smaller Fuel Tank, and Neon-inspired Styling with Matte Finishing. However, other elements like the Clip-On Handlebar, Back-lit Switches, Analog-Digital Instrument Meter, and Standard Braking System remain the same.

Bajaj Pulsar 125 Feature Highlights

  • Iconic Pulsar 150 Styling
  • 125cc DTSI Engine
  • Neon Edition with Matte Finishing
  • Clip-On Handle Bar
  • Back-lit Switches
  • Analog-Digital Instrument Meter
  • Standard Braking System
  • 5-Speed Gearbox
  • Larger 11.5L Fuel Tank

Despite its shortcomings, the Bajaj Pulsar 125 is still an enticing budget-friendly option. It presents a familiar offering in a segment dominated by generic styling and minimum features. While the Pulsar 125 successfully broke that generic cycle by offering segment-leading features, it has failed to update with the evolving times.

Hopefully, Bajaj Nepal will do something to address those shortcomings to improve the overall offering of the Pulsar 125.

  • Telescopic Front and Rear Monoshock Suspension

Discover 125 ST comes with a 4-valve technology and a mono-shock suspension! Thanks to that, the performance numbers are more than a traditional 125cc engine. Interestingly enough, the Discover ST is the only 125cc bike on this list to feature the 4V technology, typically seen in modern Bajaj offerings like the Pulsar NS 200, Dominar 250, and Dominar 400.

For the price, it offers some of the most amazing features. It goes well and beyond, surpassing the competition in almost all regards.

Bajaj Discover 125 ST Rs. 252900

Bajaj Discover 125 ST rivals Bajaj Pulsar 125, TVS Raider 125, and Honda Shine SP.

Honestly, the competition offers a more well-balanced feature set over performance. Nevertheless, Discover 125 ST still comes with 4-valve technology at the most affordable price! It manages to achieve three key points (power, affordability, and feature) at an affordable price point.

Unfortunately, Bajaj’s lack of faith in Discover 125 ST has resulted in its lackluster updates. However, the Bajaj Discover 125 ST continues to be one of the more underrated 125cc bikes in its segment.
