You Can Now Pre-Order the Samsung Galaxy A37 in Nepal: What Has Changed Really?

Samsung’s main focus with the Galaxy A36 and A56 last year was trimming them down as much as possible, shaving nearly a millimetre off their thickness. This time, however, the company appears more focused on its pricier offering, i.e., the Galaxy A57.

I say this because the A57 continues to shrink in thickness and gets the newest in-house silicon. In the meantime, the Samsung Galaxy A37 sees almost no change.

What is the Price of Samsung Galaxy A37 in Nepal?

The Samsung Galaxy A37 price in Nepal is Rs 64,999 (8/128GB), Rs 72,999 (8/256GB), and Rs 79,999 (12/256GB). That’s a hefty Rs 11,000 jump over the Galaxy A36, which might seem acceptable at first glance, especially since much of the Redmi Note series saw similar hikes.

But in this case, the increase stings a bit more because the A36 had already gone up in price. So this is essentially a price bump on top of a price bump. What crazy times we live in!

The optimist in me was really hoping Samsung would hold the line, as they had already increased the price for the A36. Guess I’ll just go and cry in the corner.

The phone is available for pre-order in Nepal from 5^th to 10^th April. As a part of the offer, you get a Rs 2,500 discount on the 256GB variants, along with a free 25W charger regardless of the trim.

Customers can also opt for up to 24 months of EMI and take advantage of exchange facilities, making the price hike a bit easier to manage.

While I did say the Galaxy A37 has almost no changes from last year, that doesn’t mean there are no changes at all. There are a few. But what exactly?

Let’s talk about them in further detail in this article:

Samsung Galaxy A37 Overview

Let’s start with the design, which is essentially unchanged. There are virtually no visual differences, and even the Galaxy A37’s dimensions are the same as the A36.

Normally, that wouldn’t be an issue, especially since the phone was slimmed down by 0.8mm just last year. But Samsung seems to be holding back with the A37 this time, as it pushed the Galaxy A57 to a sub-7mm thickness — even though the A36 and A56 had the same depth last year.

So, if Samsung wanted, they could have made the A37 equally thin. But they didn’t, likely so that the thinnest-ever A-series phone was also the most premium one.

They did, however, give it the translucent camera pill just like with A57, which I am not gonna lie, does look kinda cool. They also gave it the IP68 rating. To which, I’d like to say, FINALLY! Samsung stuck with the IP67 rating on their phones for years, even when the competition had moved to IP69 ratings. So that’s one design upgrade we get this year.

Display-wise, we are exactly where we were last year. It’s the same 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ (1,080 x 2,340 pixels) resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung does mention “slimmer bezels” in their marketing material, but given the phone’s dimensions and display size are the same, I don’t think the bezels have gotten any slimmer — even though I wish they did.

Moving on to the performance side of things, we finally get the Exynos 1480 chipset on the Samsung Galaxy A37. For the past few years, Samsung has been following a pattern of introducing a new Exynos chip with their A50 series offering, and shipping the same silicon in the A30 series the following year.

But last year, they threw us all a curveball and shipped the Galaxy A36 with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, which was barely better than the 1380 on the A35. That said, 1480 is now an objectively better chip and should show a noticeable jump in numbers.

Now, another unsuspecting area where Samsung seems to have pushed an upgrade is the cameras. On the surface, we get the same 50MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro, and 12MP selfie setup.

But the change sits underneath, in the sensor (just for the main camera). Sources are saying it’s the SONY IMX906 sensor, and Galaxy A37’s supposed sensor size of 1/1.56” does line up with it. But I could not find it explicitly mentioned anywhere. So take that how you will.

IMX906 or not, it’s a significant upgrade over the previous 1/1.96” sensor. With the amount of time Samsung has spent talking about cameras, the optics department seems to be where improvements were focused.

I wish they would replace the 5MP macro snapper that no one is using and put a telephoto lens instead. But I don’t mind the upgraded main sensor, like at all. And also, it seems the main sensors on the Galaxy A57 and A37 are now the same, at least the size of them is.

As for the battery, we get the same 5,000mAh cell, which I don’t even feel like complaining about. And that’s not out of disappointment or anything. Samsung’s battery management and optimisation is absolutely elite. I have seen them outdo other companies with a lot larger cell sizes with the same old 5,000mAh cell. So, I am fine with it as long as it lasts me throughout the day, until I reach home.

As for charging, we continue to get 45W of speed. No surprises there, as we just got the upgrade last year. Samsung just introduced 60W charging with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, so no way it’s coming to the A-series this soon.

Lastly, for software, we are getting the One UI 8.5 based on Android 16, along with six whole years of OS and security updates, which we all know and love Samsung for.

On the surface, the Samsung Galaxy A37 looks like a lazy rehash of the A36 with the same chassis, display, battery, and charging. But once you dig in, you do see the changes.

The phone is finally IP68-rated. It gets the more powerful Exynos 1480 chipset. It should have gotten it last year, but better late than never, I guess. The main sensor has also been upgraded, even though you don’t outright see that on the specs sheet.

So yes, even though the Galaxy A37 essentially looks the same, it brings a fair bit of changes. But the burning question is: is it worth the money?

That one is a bit hard to justify. If it were me, I would look at Nothing Phone (4a) or stretch my budget by Rs. 5,000 and get the Samsung Galaxy A57 instead.
