If you are new here, we’ve recently compiled the list of Upcoming Bikes in Nepal and Upcoming Scooter in Nepal. What now? Well, we’ve decided to compile a new list of all the Upcoming Cars in Nepal.

As I was compiling the list of “cars”, I noticed something funny. Even though, this list is called “Upcoming Cars in Nepal”, every car in this is an SUV. I know that I used to casually joke about the immense popularity of SUVs in Nepal, but the list just proves it.

Before we start with the list, please remember that predicting the launch date of a car is fairly a difficult job. Even when compared to a motorcycle launch date, it isn’t quite accurate. Moreover, the exact date will totally depend on the authorized distributors, making it more difficult to predict.

All the SUVs listed below are confirmed to launch in Nepal. When? I don’t know… I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

2019 Hyundai Venue

Starting off with the list, Hyundai has recently introduced its take on the “new SUV design” with 2019 Hyundai Venue. This marks the first-ever sub-4m compact SUV from the company. Based on the variant, it is powered a 1.2-liter petrol engine which generates a max torque of 115Nm and max power of 83bhp. Moreover, it is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Likewise, a much more powerful turbocharged 1.0-liter Kappa petrol engine is also available. This engine can generate max torque of 172Nm and max-power of 118bhp. Furthermore, it is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission (also available in 7-speed dual-clutch transmission).

Similarly, Hyundai Venue is also available in a diesel variant. It is powered by a 1.4-liter diesel engine which generates max torque of 220Nm and max power of 89bhp.

2019 Hyundai Venue comes with an 8-inch touch infotainment system (with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) which will include Blue Link connectivity tech. This is very similar to MG’s “Inside Internet” system.

Likewise, you will get Dual Front Airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX, Parking Sensors, Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock, and Crash Sensing Auto Door Unlock.

2019 MG Hector

Similar to 2019 Hyundai Venue, 2019 MG Hector is another ground-breaking premium SUV. Talking about the performance, MG Hector is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine. This can generate up to the max power of 143PS and max torque of 250Nm. Likewise, it will also be available in a 2.0-liter diesel engine. Moreover, the transmission will be available in 6-speed transmission for both manual and automatic.

Talking about the styling, it is very different than the previous MG SUVs. Although, the core styling takes major inspiration from Tata Harrier’s DRLs. There is a chrome finish with a large mesh grille, high mounted DRLs, twin-projector headlights, and so much more.

MG Hector also comes with premium safety features like Airbags, ABS, EBD, EPB, Cruise Control, etc. When compared to another list of amazing features in this SUV, these safety features can be considered normal.

2019 Kia Niro EV

Here we have our first electric car in this list! Furthermore, the Kia Niro EV is expected to be the first of its kind. How? Well, it will be the first premium electric SUV in Nepal. Kia Niro EV will be like a fuel-driven model. While the overall design remains the same, there is a subtle difference between the two. In Kia Niro EV, the front grille has been replaced with a charging port. Furthermore, Kia Niro EV is rumored to be powered by a 64kWh battery that can pump out a max torque of 291. On a full charge, it is expected to provide a range up to 385km. Moreover, it is expected to come with a modern list of features like an updated infotainment system, plush interiors, and general premium feel.

With a typical home AC charger, you could charge the Kia Niro at 100% full charge overnight (around 9-10 hours).

2019 MG eZS

Let’s continue with another upcoming electric car in Nepal. MG Motors makes another entry on this list with 2019 MG eZS. Imagine the already available MG ZS with electric-motor instead of fuel-engine.

MG eZS is a fully-featured SUV that is powered by an electric motor. The performance numbers are impressive, producing 148BHP and 350Nm. Moreover, it is fast enough to get from 0 – 50kmph in just 3.1 seconds.

Talking about the “fuel/drive range”, consumers can travel up to 400km on a single charge. I repeat, 400km on a single charge! It’s even more impressive when you find out that it can fast-charge up to 80% just under 30 minutes.

In recent posts, Volkswagen Nepal is putting Volkswagen Tiguan in the spotlight. If it was any other day, it could be a simple harmless post. Given the rumored launch of Volkswagen Tiguan 7-Seater, it might be more than just another harmless post.

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is powered by 2.0 TDI diesel engine with 1968cc engine displacement. This can generate a max power of 150HP and max torque of 110kW. Furthermore, it is expected to come either in 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed automatic.

Tata Motors is introducing a complete breath of fresh air in the SUV market. So, Tata Harrier comes with a drastically different approach. It completely ditches the old “standard” SUV concepts and brings in the new one.

As I am writing this, we’ve got confirmation that Jeep Compass Trailhawk is coming to Nepal. Plus, I’ve got even better news than that! According to Jeep Nepal, Jeep Compass Trailhawk is confirmed for the NADA Auto Show 2019 showcase!

There aren’t any other details, as of right now. However, there are on-going rumors about its starting price. Well, Jeep Compass Trailhawk price in Nepal is rumored to start at Rs. 1.25 Crore!

When compared to Jeep Compass Limited Plus, you will miss out on a few features like powered driver seat, auto headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers.
