The Redmi 12 has a clean design and brings a glass back which is something that totally caught us by surprise as we don’t usually see it being featured in this price range. There is no camera island on the back and the phone follows Samsung’s DNA of each camera having its own individual place. The phone has a fairly large 6.79 inches display that refreshes at 90Hz and dynamically adjusts according to the content. Brightness however is not very good, peaking at 550 nits, and using the phone outdoors on a bright sunny day is a bit troublesome.
The Helio G88 is a 12nm chipset and powers this phone. It’s an octa-core and decent enough for daily life usage and benchmark scores come around other phones with the same chip. The phone comes in two configurations: 6/128GB and 8/256GB which is pretty amazing considering the price.
The phone has a triple-camera setup with the main camera being a 50MP shooter. The other two are an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro. The photos from the main camera are generally good with daytime shots being sharp and containing good details and decent dynamic range.

Rs. 11,499 (2/32GB)
Rs. 11,999 (3/64GB)
Pros
- Good design
- Impressive primary camera
- Good display
- Optimized OS
- Fingerprint sensor
Cons
- Slow charging
- No USB Type-C
The Redmi A2 Plus has a unibody design with a plastic body. It has a textured back panel and flat edges that make the smartphone easy to hold. The rear panel has a dual-camera setup and a fingerprint sensor. The 6.52-inch IPS panel is 720p and has good viewing angles with decent color output. However, it doesn’t get super bright and will struggle under direct sunlight.
Unlike the A1 Plus which was powered by the Helio A22, the A2 Plus gets a Helio G36. It’s an octa-core coupled with 2/3 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 32/64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage technology. Overall the performance is now slow but it’s not fast as well. The low RAM means apps will often reload but the phone is capable enough to run social media and some light gaming.
The phone comes with a dual-camera setup where the main camera is an 8MP sensor. The main sensor is impressive for the price. Photos captured in daylight turn out nice with neutral colors and balanced exposure but the photos won’t have good detail and dynamic range.
