Nothing Phone (4a) Price Has Gone Up in Nepal: Already?

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Nothing Phone (4a) price in Nepal starts at Rs. 58,499 for the 8/128GB variant.
  • The phone runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and comes with up to 12GB RAM.
  • It features a 50MP periscope telephoto with support for up to 3.5x optical zoom.

Nothing Nepal teased the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro around the same time, building on the hype of the popular Phone (3a) series. But even before the brand could launch the Pro variant, they had to raise the price of the standard Phone (4a).

Talking of the predecessor, Nothing Phone (3a) once more, it had set the bar pretty high. In fact, it was the best phone at Rs. 50,000 for a good part of mid-2025, until competitors like the Infinix GT 30 Pro and OnePlus Nord CE 5 arrived. Even then, the legacy of the Phone (3a) still lingers, which means the Phone (4a) has a lot to live up to.

We’ve already said that Nothing set the bar high, but if you’re wondering why exactly then, let me give you a quick flashback. The design was clean, the Essential Key was surprisingly useful, performance was solid for the price, and most importantly, the 2x optical telephoto lens was the standout for the segment.

Now with the Nothing Phone (4a), the company has removed a few things while upgrading others. But the real question is: Can it live up to the hype of its predecessor, or will it fall short? Let’s dive into the overview and find out:

Nothing Phone (4a) Overview

The Nothing Phone (4a) immediately stands out in the mid-range segment with its striking, transparent design. Inspired by an owl, the cameras resemble eyes while the internal components form the body, giving it a brutalist, industrial vibe.

Honestly, the phone looks both different and similar to the previous model. What’s different is that the Glyph Light has now been replaced by a Glyph Bar, which features 63 mini LEDs spread across six addressable zones.

According to Nothing, these LEDs are 40% brighter than those on previous models. As for usage, you can use them for essential notifications and as a progress tracker.

What remains similar is the elongated camera island, although it has now been shifted slightly toward the top. Build quality remains mostly the same with a plastic frame, but this time the front display gets Gorilla Glass 7i protection, while the back continues to use Panda Glass.

The button arrangement has also been changed compared to last year. The volume rocker and power button now sit on the right, while the Essential Key is placed on the left. This is a fairly common layout seen on most smartphones.

Nothing has also introduced a new Pink color, bringing the Nothing Phone (4a) lineup to four options: White, Black, Blue, and Pink.

The display is where you see the biggest upgrade. It’s a 1.5K resolution screen packed into a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel, pushing the pixel density to 440 PPI. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S26 has a 411 PPI display. So technically, the Phone (4a) should produce a slightly crisper image. Besides that, HBM brightness now hits 1,600 nits.

The next major upgrade comes in the camera department, specifically the telephoto lens. The Phone (4a) now features a 50MP periscope telephoto camera instead of a standard telephoto lens. While this allows the phone to zoom up to 3.5x optically, the aperture now sits at ƒ/2.88, which is lower than the Nothing Phone (3a)’s ƒ/2.0.

The rest of the camera setup remains unchanged, including a 50MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide, and a 32MP selfie shooter.

As for hardware, there are substantial upgrades, though they are not particularly exciting. The phone now runs the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. However, when compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 used in the Nothing Phone (3a), the performance gap is fairly negligible.

With the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, the Phone (4a) comes with up to 12GB RAM paired with either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Powering everything is a 5,080mAh battery, which is fine. But seeing a 5,400mAh cell on the Indian variant really makes you want a piece of that pie. Charging remains unchanged with 50W fast charging support.

Moving on to the UI, there’s hardly anything bad to say about Nothing OS. Previous versions looked clean and minimal, and the brand has built a reputation for delivering a solid software experience. I am just glad that they backtracked from the decision to push ads on their midrange options.

The Phone (4a) ships with Nothing OS 4.1, which is based on Android 16. However, software support remains somewhat weak, with only three years of OS upgrades and six years of security updates.

The Nothing Phone (4a) fixes some of the shortcomings of the Nothing Phone (3a). It now gets a better display with Gorilla Glass protection, which was missing last time, a more capable telephoto camera, and a slightly larger battery… slightly. These upgrades collectively do make the phone more appealing to potential buyers.

The phone was super competitively priced. But even with the price hike, the phone feels absolutely worth it. Comparing it to something like the Redmi Note 15 Pro+, it may feel leagues behind in battery and charging departments. BUT those are trade-offs I will happily make for a better camera setup with a telephoto lens, clean UI, and not having to deal with annoying ads baked into the system!
