And as we stated in our award article, the OnePlus Nord CE5 doesn’t just pack a large battery — it’s also a genuinely good phone. So good in fact, it was the best phone under Rs. 50,000 for quite some time.

Too bad that’s no longer the case, and not because it’s been outclassed or has grown outdated.

Based on how it looks, the CE 5 seems pretty similar to the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing, which was only launched in China. And judging from the specs, it looks like OnePlus made a few tweaks here and there and then launched Ace 5 Racing under the name Nord CE 5.

The phone has been available in Nepal for nearly a year, and you can check out our detailed review to find out more about our experience with it.

OnePlus Nord CE 5 Overview

Design

Outside its flagship phones, OnePlus has struggled to keep a consistent design style, especially with the Nord series.

That said, this year’s Nord CE 5 looks a lot like last year’s CE 4, especially with that pill-shaped dual camera setup, which honestly reminds me a bit of Samsung’s vibe.

The phone features a plastic body and flat frames, with the volume rocker and power button on the sides. The bottom houses the usual USB-C port and a speaker grille. And surprisingly, the SIM card slot doubles as a microSD card slot that supports up to 1TB.

Considering the battery size, which we will get into later, OnePlus has managed to keep its weight under the 200g mark, which is really impressive.

Unfortunately, the phone does not have a dual-speaker setup. On the bright side, last year’s IP54 ingress rating on CE 4 is bumped to IP65, which is exactly what I was expecting.

Display

The phone has a 6.77-inch display, just like the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing. Along with that, it also features an AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The display supports 10-bit color depth, offering up to 1 billion colors. It features 800 nits of typical brightness and peaks at 1300 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM). And like the CE 4, the CE 5 even supports HDR10+ and is HD&HDR certified on Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Hardware

The CE 5 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Apex. At first, I assumed “Apex” hinted at an overclocked version of the standard D8350, but with identical core counts and clock speeds, it’s more of a naming flex, much like Redmi or Nothing tossing in “Ultimate” or “Ultra” for flair.

That said, this chip gives it enough power to keep up with phones above its price range. It keeps up fairly well against even the OnePlus Nord 5. So, it’s safe to say that the processor is an absolute powerhouse, with clock speeds reaching up to 3.35GHz.

In terms of memory, the phone features 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. However, more variants with higher RAM and storage are available globally. The phone also has a 7041mm² vapor chamber.

Cameras and AI

Shifting the focus to the cameras, the CE 5 packs a 50MP main shooter with the same Sony LYT-600 sensor found on the Nord CE 4. On paper, the primary camera setup appears identical between the two. And just below it, you’ll find an 8MP ultrawide lens to round out the rear setup.

On the front, the phone houses a 16MP selfie camera paired with a Sony IMX480 sensor. In terms of video, the rear camera can shoot up to 4K at 60fps, just like the Nord 5, while the front camera supports up to 1080p at 60fps.

Besides the raw camera specs, the CE 5 also features the usual AI shenanigans like AI Eraser, Perfect Shot, Reflection Remover, and Reframe.

They’ve also integrated two AI assistants, Google Gemini and OnePlus AI. In simple terms, these tools are there to help with everyday tasks like writing, translating, and quick searching, making the phone feel a bit smarter and more user-friendly.

Battery and OS

I have already spent a good time raving about Nord CE 5’s battery, which is a 7,100mAh cell. At the time of its launch, it was the phone with the largest battery in Nepal. It was later dethroned by the Honor X9d, which packed an absolutely ridiculous 8,300mAh battery.

The phone also supports Bypass Charging, a feature that powers the device directly from the charger instead of the battery. The result? Less heat, better long-term battery health, and minimal thermal throttling during heavy use.

For charging, the phone supports 80W SUPERVOOC, as opposed to the 100W charging found on the OnePlus Nord CE 4. Given the larger battery, 100W fast charging would have made more sense, but I can live with that. 80W is still blazing fast.

In terms of software, the phone runs on Android 15 with OxygenOS 15 applied on top. And this time, the phone gets 4 years of OS upgrades and a massive 6 years of security upgrades.

OnePlus Nord CE 5 Price in Nepal and Availability

The price of the OnePlus Nord CE 5 is Rs. 53,999 for the 8/256GB variant, up from Rs. 48,999 at which it launched. It is available for purchase at authorized OnePlus retail and online stores across the country.

With the specs it packed, the OnePlus Nord CE 5 was one of the best phones under Rs. 50,000. But now that the price has gone up, is it still worth it? Yes, I would say.

That’s mainly because it’s not just the OnePlus Nord CE 5 that got the price hike. It’s competition like the Infinix GT 30 and Nothing Phone (3a) also got their prices raised, long before CE 5 at that. So, the playing field is once again even. It’s just that they are now competing at a price point of Rs. 55,000–60,000.
