The Xiaomi 17T made its global debut on May 28, including in Nepal. Xiaomi is calling it “The biggest T series upgrade yet.”, so the expectations with the phone are pretty high.

The Pro model also made its global debut alongside the 17T. However, we will not be getting the Pro model. Maybe someday, but not today.
What is the Price of Xiaomi 17T in Nepal?
The Xiaomi 17T price in Nepal is Rs. 89,999 for the sole 12/512GB variant. While the price has increased rather steeply, it does not feel out of place.
There was a time when the news of Xiaomi 14T arriving in Nepal for the first time was circulating, and we expected it to launch at around this price. Yes. Back then!
Considering the European price of the phone is €799, which converts to over Rs. 1,40,000, Xiaomi Nepal has priced the 17T very aggressively — just as they always did!
While the news of the launch came on the 28th, the pre-booking for the phone only started the day after and will run until June 5th. Benefits include Redmi Buds 6 Play (worth Rs. 2,499) and Xiaomi Tag (worth Rs. 2,999), absolutely free!
The Xiaomi 17T comes in as a direct successor to last year’s Xiaomi 15T, which was a massive hit in Nepal, arguably one of the best value mid-rangers with a premium feel.
We even gave it the “Best Taste of Premium” award in 2025. It had a high-resolution display with minimal bezels, a set of high-quality cameras, and near-flagship-level performance. So, there are some large shoes to fill for the latest entry.
One thing worth noting, the T series has historically launched in September globally, with Nepal typically getting it about a month later in October. The 13T, 14T, and 15T all followed this pattern.
This year, Xiaomi has broken that tradition, launching the 17T and 17T Pro nearly four months earlier than their predecessors, which, I say, is for the better. After all, the T phones always felt like they were launching a bit too late.
Now, without further delay, let’s get right into it

Xiaomi 17T Overview
The Xiaomi 17T still features a plastic frame, which is no longer standard for the segment. A lot of the rivals at this price now offer metal frames. So, I think the Xiaomi T series needs a much-needed upgrade in this department. But then again, the phone is IP68 rated, so the build must still be solid.

The design still looks clean and modern, with a square camera island on the back making a return. Nothing dramatically different from last year’s 15T, but a clean look overall. The phone comes in three color options: Blue, Black, and Purple.
One thing that stands out, though, the phone has gotten smaller again. The 14T had a 6.67-inch screen, the 15T stepped up to 6.83 inches, and now the 17T comes in at just 6.59 inches, the smallest Xiaomi T series phone we have ever seen.

While the display is smaller, the rest of the specs remain solid. It is still an AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Despite the smaller screen, visuals should still look crisp since the resolution remains at 1.5K.
All the heavy lifting is handled by the Dimensity 8500 Ultra SoC, paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. With the ongoing price hikes affecting the mid-range segment in 2026, we could have seen only the 256GB variant enter Nepal. But Xiaomi was like, “No worries, fam, I gotchu!”
The Dimensity 8500 Ultra is a brand-new chip that sits above the 8300-Ultra on the 15T, and early benchmarks suggest a meaningful performance jump, and this is likely what Xiaomi meant when they called it “the biggest T series upgrade yet.” We will be putting that claim to the test once the phone comes in for review, running all the synthetic benchmarks and games.

Xiaomi continues its partnership with Leica. The 17T features a triple rear camera setup, a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto, and a 12MP ultrawide, along with a 32MP selfie camera.
On paper, it looks similar to the 15T, but the telephoto is now a 5x optical zoom lens. One of our major complaints with the 15T was that the telephoto’s 2x optical zoom was a bit too little. But 5x seems like overcompensation, as that level of zoom is a bit of a heckle to manage for portraits.
A zoom stop between 3x and 4x would have been a sweet spot in my opinion, but I will happily take it over the outdated 2x telephoto. Also, the telephoto now supports OIS.

The 17T packs a 6,500mAh battery with 67W fast charging, a straight 1,000mAh upgrade over the 15T’s battery, which was probably the weakest point of that phone, considering the competition. The 67W charging is decent, though. And the 22.5W reverse charging support also arrives here, just like the latest Redmi Note Pro series.
On the software front, the 17T runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3. The 15T came with 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security patches, and we can expect a similar promise on the 17T as well.
That said, HyperOS, while significantly improved, still carries some bloatware and ads, a persistent complaint across Xiaomi devices. The 15T was noticeably cleaner in this regard than the 14T before it, so hopefully the 17T continues that trend. If you can tolerate a bit of clutter, the software experience is otherwise smooth and feature-rich.

The Xiaomi 15T was a hard phone to beat at its price, with a great chip, a capable camera, and solid value. As such, it stood at the top of its segment. The 17T looks set to follow that formula, but with some meaningful upgrades this time around.
The much bigger 6,500mAh battery and 5x telephoto fix the biggest complaints about the 15T. Also, the Dimensity 8500 Ultra should be a noticeable step up in performance. And the pricing also looks good.
As such, the Xiaomi 17T is one of the most exciting premium midrange launches of 2026 and might just be an easy recommendation like its predecessors.
