Tata has built a strong presence in Nepal through its rich legacy, positive consumer perception, and extensive nationwide network. The Tata cars price in Nepal starts at Rs. 27.49 Lakhs for the Tiago.ev (base variant) and reaches up to Rs. 1.32 Crores for the Tata Safari (top-spec).

• Tata Tiago.ev: A compact hatchback EV built for effortless urban commuting. It serves as Tata’s entry-level electric car, though its ICE counterpart is unavailable in Nepal.

Tata Tiago.ev

Tata Tiago.ev is the most affordable Tata car in Nepal.

It is powered by a 48 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that generates a max power of 65.3 PS and a max torque of 114 Nm. The powertrain is supported by a 24 kWh Lithium ion Battery pack that offers a range of 205 Km as per the C75 test. It can charge from 10% to 100% in in 8.7 hours via a 3.3 kW AC Charger.

The Tata Tiago.ev delivers a balanced ride with good handling and suspension making it a fun-to-ride vehicle.

It comes well-equipped with a decent range of features and ensures a satisfactory safety level with a 4-star Global NCAP rating.

The Tiago.ev features a Sporty Hatchback Design, Angular LED Projector Headlamps with DRLs, Leatherette Seat Upholstery, a 7-inch Infotainment Screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 4-Speakers Sound System and Cooled Glove Box. Safety features include Dual airbags, ABS, EBD, Reverse Camera, iTPMS, and a 4-Star Rating on Global Crash Safety Test.

However, Tiago.ev small battery pack may cause frequent range anxiety for users. Moreover, it can do a lot better with a set of more grippy tires.

Also, in terms of driving ergonomics, taller drivers might  find it challenging to get a comfortable driving position.

The Tata Tiago.ev competes with the Citroën eC3, both offering affordable EV options with similar motor and battery setups.

While the eC3’s SUV design feels more appealing than the Tiago’s hatchback form, the Tiago.ev stands out with a premium interior, better features, and wider charging support. Its lower price further strengthens its value proposition.

Tata XPRES-T EV

Tata XPRES-T EV is a commercial-purpose electric sedan from Tata in Nepal.

It is powered by a 48 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that generates a max power of 65.3 PS and a max torque of 170 Nm. The powertrain is supported by a 24 kWh Lithium ion Battery pack that offers a range of 260 Km as per the ARAI test. It can charge from 0% to 80% in in 8.7 hours via a 15A Plug.

The XPRES-T EV’s spacious design and ample storage enhance practicality.

Adding to that, its low operating costs make it a popular choice for taxis. Also, it offers quite a decent range of features for its price tag. 

The XPRES-T features a Sedan Design, Angular LED Projector Headlamps with DRLs, Crystal Inspired LED Tail Lamps, Fabric Seat Upholstery, a 3.5-inch connectNext Infotainment System, and 4-Speakers Sound System. Safety features include Dual airbags, ABS + EBD, and Reverse Camera.

The XPRES-T EV has a plain, no-frills design with minimal styling elements.

Its limited driving range can be a concern for commercial use, and it comes with the shortest motor and battery warranty among Tata EVs in Nepal.

The Tata XPRES-T enters the commercial EV segment, designed specifically for ride-sharing, cab, and fleet operations. Unlike intercity commercial EVs, it stands out as a practical choice for urban mobility.

While it ensures minimal operating costs, its upfront price remains relatively high.

Tata Punch EV

The Punch EV comes in two variants: Standard Range and Long Range.

The Standard Range features a 48 kW PMSM motor, delivering 65.3 PS and 114 Nm torque, paired with a 25 kWh battery offering a C75-claimed 190-210 km range. It charges from 0 to 100% in about 3.5 hours with a 7.2 kW AC charger.

The Long Range variant packs a 90 kW motor, producing 122 PS and 190 Nm torque, with a 35 kWh battery providing a C75 claimed range of 270-290 km range. Full charging takes around 5.5 hours with a 7.2 kW AC charger.

Additionally, the Punch EV boasts a 140 km/h top speed, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.5 seconds. It also features a 4-level regenerative braking system capable of bringing the car to a stop.

The Punch EV delivers strong performance combined with a realistic driving range of over 250 kms on its long range option. It also ensures top-tier safety with a 5-star Global NCAP rating

The Punch EV features a dedicated EV platform (acti.ev), a Compact SUV Design, LED Headlamps with Smart DRLs, 16-inch Alloy Wheels, Leatherette Seat Upholstery with Front Ventilation, a 10.2-inch Infotainment Screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 6-Speaker Harman Sound System, and Voice Assisted Sunroof. Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS + EBD + ESC, 360 Degree Camera with Blind View Monitoring, and a 5-star Rating on Bharat Crash Safety Test.

However, the rear seats feel cramped, especially for long journeys.

In terms of competition, Tata Punch EV competes with BYD Dolphin.

Tata Nexon K3.ev

The Nexon K3.ev forms the middle-order of the Tata Nepal electric lineup.

It is powered by a 98 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor which generates a max power of 133.2 PS and a max torque of 215 Nm. It is supported by a 45 kWh high-density Lithium-ion battery pack that offers a driving range between 350 km and 375 km.

Charging from 0 to 100% takes 6 hours and 36 minutes with the onboard 7.2 kW AC charger, while a 60 kW DC fast charger achieves 10% to 80% in just 45 minutes.

The Nexon K3.ev stands out with its refreshed design inherited from its acti.ev platform.

Also, Tata Nepal claims 300+ km of real range, and a top-tier 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, making it a well-rounded compact SUV.

The Nexon K3.ev features a dedicated EV platform (acti.ev), Compact SUV Design, LED Headlamps with Smart DRLs, 16-inch Alloy Wheels, Leatherette Seat Upholstery with Front Ventilation, a 12.3-inch Infotainment Screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 9-Speaker JBL Sound System, and Voice Assisted Sunroof. Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS + EBD + ESC, 360 Degree Camera, and a 5-Star Rating on Bharat Crash Safety Test.

However, Nexon K3.ev’s interior feels cramped, while the absence of ADAS makes it less appealing compared to its competitors. Additionally, the lack of a spare tire may be a drawback for long trips.

The Tata Nexon K3.ev will go head-to-head with the Hyundai Creta Electric in Nepal.

With its larger dimensions, the Creta Electric boasts a more spacious cabin, while both EVs deliver similar performance thanks to their comparable motors. However, the Creta Electric gains an edge with multiple battery options, offering a longer driving range.

Although it is expected to be priced slightly higher than the Nexon K3.ev, the premium is justified by added features like a Level 2 ADAS suite.

Tata Curvv.ev

The Curvv.ev is the flagship electric model of Tata Nepal.

It is powered by a 98 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, delivering 133 PS of max power and 215 Nm of torque. It is supported by a 55 kWh battery pack, which provides a C75 range between 400 km to 425 km. Charging from 10% to 100% takes 8 hours with a 7.2 kW AC charger, while a 70 kW DC fast charger achieves 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes.

The vehicle’s unique design stands out, while its 400-425 km C75-claimed range ensures long trips. A 5-star Global Bharat NCAP rating further enhances safety.

The Curvv.ev features a Coupe SUV Design, LED Projector Headlamps with Smart DRLs, Electronically Controlled Charging Port, 18-inch Alloy Wheels, Leatherette Seat Upholstery with Front Ventilation, a 12.3-inch Infotainment Screen, 9-Speaker JBL Sound System, and Voice Assisted Sunroof. Safety features include 6 airbags, 360 Degree Camera, and a 5-Star Rating on Bharat Crash Safety Test. Plus, it also has V2L and V2V capabilities.

However, the cramped rear space limits comfort, and the firm suspension affects ride quality. Minimal rear visibility also demands extra caution while driving.

The Tata Curvv.ev and Hyundai Creta Electric share the same motor capacity, but the Curvv.ev leads with a 55 kWh battery and a 585 km ARIA range. The Creta Electric offers 42 kWh (390 km) and 51.4 kWh (473 km) options.

However, both vehicles are loaded with features that come with Level 2 ADAS and hail from legacy brands.

Tata Punch

Tata Punch is the most affordable ICE offering from Tata Nepal currently.

It is powered by a 1.2L, 3-cylinder, Revotron Petrol Engine. It can generate a max power of 87.8 PS at 6000 rpm and a max torque of 115 Nm at 3250 rpm. Moreover, it is mated to a 5-speed Manual as well as Automated Manual Transmission and 37-liter fuel tank capacity.

The vehicle offers a smooth ride, excellent fuel efficiency (18 – 20 km/l), and a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, making it a reliable and economical choice.

The Punch EV features a Projector LED Headlamps, 16-inch Alloy Wheels, Leatherette Seat Upholstery, Floating 7-inch Infotainment by Harman with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 4-Speaker. Safety features include Dual airbags, Cruise Control, Reverse Camera, and a 5-Star Rating on Global Crash Safety Test.

However, its top-end performance feels sluggish, the exterior paint quality is mediocre, and the braking could be more responsive.

The Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter compete in Nepal’s compact SUV segment, each offering a 1.2L petrol engine with both manual and AMT options.

The Punch stands out with its 5-star GNCAP safety rating and rugged build, whereas the Exter impresses with modern features like a sunroof,  and more comprehensive safety tech. 

Buyers seeking robustness may prefer the Punch, while those looking for premium features may find the Exter more appealing.

Tata Nexon (Facelift)

Tata Nexon forms the middle order of the Tata Nepal lineup.

It is powered by a 1.2L, 3-cylinder, Revotron Turbocharged Petrol Engine. It can generate a max power of 120 PS at 5500 rpm and a max torque of 115 Nm at 1750-4000 rpm. Moreover, it is mated to a 5-speed Manual as well as Automated Manual Transmission and 44-liter fuel tank capacity.

Nexon offers solid build quality, a good range of features, and a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, ensuring both reliability and top-tier protection.

The Nexon features a Bi-Function Auto LED Headlamps with Sequential DRLs, 16-inch Alloy Wheels, Sunroof, Premium Leatherette Seat Upholstery with Front Ventilation, Floating 10.2-inch Infotainment by Harman with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 4-Speakers. Safety features include Six Airbags, 360 Degree Camera, and a 5-Star Rating on Global Crash Safety Test.

The touch controls are confusing, the mileage is average, and the turbo lag disrupts smooth acceleration.

The Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue are two strong contenders in the compact SUV segment.

The Nexon comes with a Turbocharged engine, agile handling, robust safety features, and an affordable price that suit Nepal’s narrow, rugged roads.

In contrast, the Venue is just a compact SUV barely matching the appeal of the new Nexon.

Tata Safari

Tata Safari is the flagship SUV of the Tata Nepal lineup in the ICE segment.

It is powered by a 2.0-litre, Inline 4-cylinder, Kryotec Turbocharged Diesel Engine. It can generate a max power of 170 PS at 5500 rpm and a max torque of 350  Nm at 1750-2500 rpm. Moreover, it is mated to a 6-speed Manual as well as Automated Manual Transmission and a 50-liter fuel tank capacity.

The upgraded design enhances appeal, while a decent feature set ensures comfort and convenience. Its 5-star Global NCAP rating guarantees top-tier safety. 

The Safari features a Bi-Function Projector LED Headlamps with Sequential DRLs, 19-inch Alloy Wheels, Sunroof, 7-Seater, Leatherette Seat Upholstery with Front Ventilation, Floating 12.3-inch Infotainment by Harman with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 10-Speakers. Safety features include 7 Airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a 5-Star Rating on Global Crash Safety Test.

However, fuel efficiency falls short, and the engine noise affects cabin comfort. The fit and finish could also be more refined.

The Tata Safari caters to Nepal’s niche 7-seater market but now faces competition from the all-electric BYD M6.

The Safari leads in performance with its 2.0L turbo-diesel engine, offering more power and torque than the M6’s 100 kW motor. However, the M6 excels in efficiency, with lower running costs and V2L capability. While the Safari has a longer range, it consumes more fuel.

Price-wise, the M6 is nearly half the cost of the Safari, making it the more affordable option.
