Samsung Officially Launches Galaxy Z Fold 5 in Nepal

Samsung Nepal held the Galaxy Unpacked event in Kathmandu on August 13, 2023, to launch the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. These are the latest foldable devices from Samsung, and they are currently open for pre-booking until August 31, 2023.

What is the Price of the Samsung Z Fold 5 in Nepal?

The Samsung Z Fold 5 price in Nepal is Rs. 2,26,999 (12/256GB) and Rs. 2,39,999 (12/512GB). It is currently available for pre-booking via Samsung-authorized stores and other e-commerce platforms such as Daraz, Sastodeal, and Smartdoko until August 31, 2023.

Samsung is providing one-year breakage insurance and a one-time protection film replacement on the purchase of Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Building on the success of the fourth generation of the foldable series, Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Fold 5, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 5, on July 26, 2023. The Galaxy Fold series is Samsung’s über-tier phone series. Samsung Fold 5 Overview

Design

The biggest change, which is likely also the most requested change, on the new Fold 5, is its new “flex hinge”. The redesigned flex hinge closes the gap that was very prevalent on the Z Fold 4, enabling the phone to be slimmer (13.4mm at its slimmest) and lighter (253g, down from 263g) than before.

The flex hinge’s new dual rail design is said to be stronger and more durable than the Fold 4. Other than that, the Z Fold 5 does not seem to bring any new changes.

It is enclosed in Samsung’s “Armor Aluminum” frame, and the phone has the latest Gorilla Victus 2 for both the front and back. Moreover, the phone retains its IPX8 rating for water resistance.

Additionally, the S Pen Fold Edition is now 40% slimmer. Although the phone still has no dedicated place for the S Pen like in the S23 Ultra.

Display

The cover display is a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that refreshes at 120Hz. It has a resolution of 904 x 2316 pixels.

The main display is a 7.6 inches Foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X with a 120Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness has been boosted up to 1750 nits, matching the S23 series.

The display also supports HDR10+ and is 1812 x 2176 pixels.

Hardware

The phone is equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4nm) chipset, which, like the Galaxy S23 series, is custom-tuned for the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

The Prime Cortex-X3 core is overclocked from 3.2GHz to 3.36GHz, while the rest of the cores consist of two 2.8 GHz Cortex-A715, 2×2.8 GHz Cortex-A710, and 3×2.0 GHz Cortex-A510 cores. Additionally, the Adreno 740 GPU is clocked at 719MHz instead of 680MHz.

Talking about storage, it features UFS 4.0 technology with varying storage options: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, all with 12GB RAM. The 1TB variant is not available in Nepal.

Camera

The triple camera setup of the Fold 5 is the same as the Fold 4 featuring a 50MP (f/1.8) main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom. Both the main and telephoto cameras feature OIS for cleaner shots.

The cover camera for selfies is 10MP with f2.2 and 24mm focal length. The weak under-display 4MP camera also makes it to the Fold 5. The phone supports videos up to 4K@60fps from the front camera.

Battery and OS

The phone comes with a 4400mAh battery and supports 25W wired charging. Samsung claims it takes around 30 mins for a 50% charge.

The phone also comes with 15W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging support.

It runs Android 13 out of the box with One UI 5.1 on top.
