Motorola Edge 70 Fusion Launched in Nepal: Priced Competitively!

 HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion price in Nepal starts at Rs. 69,999 (12/256GB).
  • The phone runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC and a massive 7,000mAh battery.
  • It features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 main camera with a 13MP ultrawide sensor.

Motorola has been launching some impressive phones at competitive prices despite the ongoing price hikes. Its recent launch, the Moto G57 Power, is a great example of this. Motorola doesn’t seem to be slowing down, as it also just launched the all-new Edge 70 Fusion in Nepal.

Among Motorola’s various offerings, the Edge family represents the brand’s mid-to-high-tier smartphones. Within the Edge family, the Fusion variants are upper mid-range smartphones with a quad-curved display, upgraded cameras, and bigger batteries.

The Edge 70 Fusion brings several upgrades over its predecessor, including a larger battery, a more powerful chipset, and improved cameras. However, the Edge 60 Fusion never launched in Nepal, and the Edge 50 Fusion was the last phone in the series to make its way to the Nepali market.

With a promising set of features, the Edge 70 Fusion could be a strong contender in its segment. So, let’s see what it has to offer!

Motorola Edge 70 Fusion Overview

Like most recent Motorola phones, the Edge 70 Fusion features a quad-curved design with the brand’s signature camera bump and iconic Motorola logo. However, what sets it apart is the fabric-inspired finish on the back, which gives the phone a distinctive look while adding a premium touch.

In terms of durability, the Edge 70 Fusion retains the IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance from the Edge 60 Fusion. Likewise, the front glass protection remains unchanged, with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

The phone is available in five color options: Silhouette, Blue Surf, Orient Blue, Sporting Green, and Country Air.

Up front, the display gets several upgrades. It is now slightly larger at 6.78 inches, and Motorola has replaced the 120Hz p-OLED panel with a faster 144Hz 1.5K AMOLED display. Peak brightness has also increased to 5,200 nits, up from 4,200 nits on the Edge 60 Fusion.

The display is Pantone Validated for color accuracy and uses a 10-bit panel with DCI-P3 color gamut and HDR10+ support, promising a more vibrant and accurate viewing experience.

There is a slight variation in terms of performance depending on the market. The global variant gets the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, whereas the Indian variant is powered by the newer Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. While both chipsets are quite similar, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 has a higher clock speed and some architectural improvements, giving it a slight edge over the Gen 3.

Motorola typically launches the global variant of its phones in Nepal, so we expected to get the one with the 7s Gen 3. However, this time, we are getting the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 on the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion. Regardless, the differences between the two variants are still relatively minor and likely won’t make a significant difference in everyday use.

As for memory, the Edge 70 Fusion comes in a 12GB RAM variant in Nepal, which is paired with 256GB and 512GB storage options.

Moving on to the cameras, the setup remains largely unchanged from the Edge 60 Fusion, with a 50MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide camera. However, Motorola has upgraded the main sensor from the Sony LYTIA 700C on the Edge 60 Fusion to the newer Sony LYTIA 710 on the Edge 70 Fusion.

Both sensors have the same physical size, but the newer LYTIA 710 is designed to perform better in low-light conditions. This should help improve image quality in challenging lighting conditions. On the front, it runs the same 32MP selfie camera as the Edge 60 Fusion.

The interesting bit about the Edge 70 Fusion is its battery. In India, it is available with a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon (Si/C) battery, while other markets get a choice between 5,200mAh and 7,000mAh battery capacities. We do not get to choose between the two, as Nepali importers like keeping options safe and simple.

But the good news is Motorola is offering the 7,000mAh as the default, which is good considering the current market demand for larger batteries. Meanwhile, the phone supports 68W fast wired charging.

The Edge 70 Fusion comes with Android 16 out of the box and is set to receive three major Android version upgrades and five years of security updates.

The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion is a strong addition to Motorola’s lineup in Nepal. Its 144Hz 1.5K AMOLED display, 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 main sensor, and 7,000mAh Si/C battery are some of its biggest strengths, and the overall package has no glaring weaknesses on paper.

As for pricing, it feels pretty aggressive for the current market. However, it is still an offering on par with phones like Redmi Note 15 Pro+ and Infinix Note 60 Pro. Those phones arrived much earlier in Nepal and, as a result, maintain lower prices. Yet, there are a few phones that still outclass them in the price segment.

Hence, even if the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion feels properly priced, it may have to wait a while for its time to shine. That too, if the price doesn’t change two weeks later.
