When the vivo Y05 launched, the hype around the vivo V70 was still at its peak, which ended up overshadowing the Y05’s debut. The same thing is happening again with this price hike. The V70 crossing the Rs. 1,00,000 mark is such a big story that the Y05’s price increase has almost gone unnoticed.

The vivo Y05 comes in as a successor to the vivo Y04, which was one of the best phones under Rs 15,000 in 2025. Vivo has upgraded some key specs of the phone, making it even better. But, in the meantime, its price has also gone way up.
What is the Price of Vivo Y05 in Nepal?
The vivo Y05 price in Nepal now stands at Rs. 21,999 and Rs. 24,999 for the 4/64GB and 4/128GB variants, respectively. The increase is likely due to the ongoing RAM shortage, rising transportation costs, and a stronger US dollar.
For perspective, the phone originally launched at Rs. 16,999 for the base variant and Rs. 19,499 for the higher-end model. That means buyers are now paying Rs. 5,000 more for the 4/64GB version and Rs. 5,500 more for the 4/128GB variant.
The vivo Y05 is currently available through authorized vivo stores and mobile retailers across Nepal.
Okay… The phone has become way more expensive, but there are a few upgrades, too. So, does that mean everything levels out? What’s going on? How’s the phone really?

Let’s discuss all that in further detail in the following segment:
Vivo Y05 Overview
The Vivo Y05 sees very few design changes. The LED ring light has been relocated, which in turn has shortened the camera island. That’s the most obvious visual change apart from the colours, which are now Voyage Black, Summit Platinum, and Haze Blue. Nepali customers can only choose between the former two.
The phone retains the SGS five-star overall unit drop resistance and military-grade shock resistance certifications, while the IP rating has gone up to IP65. Vivo also claims eight hours of rain exposure endurance and offers wet-hand and greasy-hand touch support.

Display-wise, it’s still a 6.74-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution. But the colour coverage and brightness level (HBM value) have improved to 83% NTSC and 1,200 nits from 70% and 570 nits, respectively. Most importantly, though, the refresh rate on the Vivo Y05 is now 120Hz, up from 90Hz on the Y04. Besides, the phone still keeps the U-shaped notch and the thick bottom bezel from before.

The internals also do not see many changes. As such, the Vivo Y05 relies on the same UNISOC T7225 silicon as its predecessor. The phone comes in the same two variants of 4/64GB and 4/128GB, with the same LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage. The phone offers the same level of expandability, with 4GB of virtual memory and support for a 2TB microSD card.
In the battery department, the capacity has increased by 18%, now reaching a massive 6,500mAh. This should easily last more than a day with casual use. On the other hand, the rear camera resolution has taken a hit, now down to 8MP from the previous 13MP.

The charging speed and selfie cameras remain exactly how they were on the Y04, those being 15W and 5MP, respectively. Vivo also removed the 0.08MP auxiliary camera on the back, which was useless anyway. Now that space is occupied by an IR blaster, which is a new add-on this year.
Vivo also skipped Android 15 entirely and shipped the Y05 with Android 16, with their new and upgraded OriginOS 6.0 skin on top. Given it’s an entry-level offering, the software is bound to be laced with ads. But that should still be a better overall experience than FunTouch OS.

Vivo Y05 Price in Nepal: Rs. 16,999 21,999 (4/64GB) | Rs. 19,499 24,999 (4/128GB)
The Vivo Y05 brings a good amount of upgrades for a budget phone. However, its price has also risen a fair bit. And for the price bump, those upgrades are hard to justify.
Furthermore, phones like the Samsung Galaxy A07 and Redmi A7 Pro make the situation for the Y05 even tougher. They’re not only cheaper, but are much better phones overall.
