Nokia 5.3 Launched in Nepal: Stylish but Underwhelming Spec Sheet

Nokia recently launched some bar phones and Nokia C2 in Nepal. And, now it has launched the Nokia 5.3 in Nepal.

Nokia 5.3 price in Nepal is Rs. 23,499 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM variant. It comes in three color variants: Cyan, Sand, and Charcoal.

Nokia 5.3 is a budget phone and one of the only ones that are still running on Google’s Android One.

So, what does Nokia 5.3 has to offer? Let’s see.

Nokia 5.3 Overview

Design

Nokia 5.3 has a plastic back and a plastic frame. The design looks quite interesting due to the circular camera sensor though. The fingerprint sensor is right under the camera sensor on the back.

On the front, it has a waterdrop notch.

Display

Nokia 5.3 has a 6.55 inches IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. It’s an  HD display protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

Given this phone will cost above 20K, a 720P IPS display doesn’t look good at all.

Hardware

Nokia 5.3 is running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset and comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 has an Octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Kryo 260 Gold & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260 Silver) CPU and Adreno 610 GPU.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset is a fine budget chipset and it will do fine with games as Nokia 5.3 is running an HD display. But, it is still an old chipset, and it’s a hard sell given the competition.

Camera

Nokia 5.3 has a quad-camera setup with a 13MP main sensor, 5MP ultra wide-angle sensor, 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor.

On the front, it comes with an 8MP selfie camera. It can capture 4k videos at 30fps from the rear camera and 1080 videos at 30fps from the front camera.

Battery

Nokia 5.3 packs a 4000 mAh battery along with 10W charging. Given its specification, Nokia 5.3 will last more than a day with average usage.

The 10W charging is really slow though.

Furthermore, it runs on Android One on top of Android 10.

Nokia 5.3 Price in Nepal and Availability

Nokia 5.3 price in India for the 4/64GB variant is INR 13,999 which translates to NPR 22,417. And Nokia 5.3 price in Nepal is Rs. 23,499. So, there’s not much difference between the prices in India and Nepal.

Nokia 5.3 looks stylish but it feels underwhelming when it comes to the spec sheet. Though it is one of the recent launches from Nokia, it comes with Snapdragon 665 Soc. On top of that, it has a 720P IPS display and doesn’t come with fast charging. And, I don’t like the 5MP ultra-wide-angle camera too.

For a phone that costs Rs. 23,499, Nokia 5.3 doesn’t offer compelling hardware. There are plenty of better phones like the Samsung M21, Redmi Note 9, Realme 6i, and others at this price tag.
