Redmi Note 9 Overview

The Note 9 series fancies a new minimalistic design change. A Square hump in the middle of a glass canvas i.e. the Aura Balance Design (as Xiaomi Likes to call it) is a modest design change to the Redmi family.

The minimalist design is further stretched to the front as well with the introduction of punch-hole cutouts. And, the Redmi Note 9 gets a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor instead of the side-mounted fingerprint sensor found on the pro version.

Personally, I really like the design of the Redmi Note 9 over the Note 8.

On the front, the Redmi Note 9 flaunts a 6.53-inch IPS LCD Panel that stretches up to 83% percent; credits to the minimalistic punch-hole cutout.

Though it’s a full HD panel and it’s protected by Gorilla Glass 5 but it doesn’t include a higher refresh rate display. Well, this might be a problem for Redmi fans as its competition; Realme 6 does have a 90Hz display.

As Realme 6 is not available in Nepal yet we’ll reserve this discussion for the future.

Xiaomi has opted to go with MediaTek on the Redmi Note 9 instead of the Snapdragon which is used on its Pro version. It uses MediaTek’s Helio G85 and is the first phone to use this chipset.

Helio G85 is similar to the Helio G80, it has an Octa-core CPU (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55) and Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.

Helio G85 is a top-notch chipset and it will have flawless performance but Realme 6 uses Helio G90T and should have a similar price to Redmi Note 9 when it launches.

Furthermore, Redmi Note 9 has 4GB of RAM depending upon its storage option of 128GB.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 gets a quad-camera setup on the rear with a 48MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 main sensor. Whereas the Redmi Note 9 Pro has a 48MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM2 main sensor.

Except for this, Redmi Note 9 has an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. On the front, it has a 13MP sensor for selfies.

In terms of battery, the Redmi Note 9 gets a huge 5020 mAh battery along with 22.5W fast charging.

Though, it’s a step up from Redmi Note 8’s 4500 mAh battery. It would have been better if it had the same 33W fast charging as the max version.

Moving on the Redmi Note 9 runs on Android 10 and MIUI 11. And it is eligible for future updates as well. It also retains the headphone jack if you care about that.

Redmi Note 9 Price in Nepal, Availability, and Impressions

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 price in Nepal is Rs. 22,999. The price is really good considering the older Redmi Note 8 is still priced at Rs. 23,999 for 4/128GB variant. Also, this variant doesn’t have NFC.

Redmi Note 9 (4/128GB) Rs. 22999 June 26 – available Xiaomi brand shops and retails stores.

So, Redmi Note 9 uses Mediatek’s Helio G85 which will no doubt provide good performance. However, it has an older 48MP Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor. We can get the updated Samsung ISOCELL GM2 in the Samsung M21.

It’s a very good phone but it will have a tough competition if and when Realme 6 makes it to Nepal. Furthermore, Samsung M21 is also a compelling device at this price tag that comes with a better camera sensor, an AMOLED display, and good performance.
