Huawei launched the brand new members of the Nova series – Nova 3 and Nova 3i – in a launch event on 18th July at Shenzhen China. It had been speculated that Huawei will be releasing two phones in July. These two phones aim to keep the good name that the previous phones like Huawei Nova 2i and the Nova 3e have made for the Nova series.
Both these phones have been launched in China and are said to debut on 28th July in the Philippines. The date of their availability in Nepal is still unknown until now. But Huawei Nepal aims to bring it into Nepal soon as possible as support for the Nova series has been phenomenal here.
Huawei Nova 3
Among the two phones released, Huawei Nova 3 is the more powerful one. It has a 6.3-inch Full HD+ 19.5:9 aspect ratio screen with a notch. If the screen on the Nova 3e was any indication, the Nova 3 will have a spectacular one. Even though the display is LCD, we expect some punchy colors.
Inside, Nova 3 boasts a Kirin 970 processor which is the flagship processor made by Huawei. It is the same chipset that was inside the Huawei P20 Pro. And with 6GB RAM onboard, this thing is turning out to have a flagship level performance. Huawei hasn’t skimped on the camera department too.
The Nova 3 has a dual 16 + 24 MP camera setup on the back and a dual 24MP+2MP sensor on the front. These cameras come with AI capabilities that have been embedded on the SoC itself, just like on the P20 pro. An example of the AI in action would be scene recognition where the camera recognizes the setting of the scene, whether you’re capturing something in motion or something at night. With P20 pro being the king of the smartphone camera, we expect some serious performance from the Nova 3.

Huawei Nova 3i
The Nova 3i is like a mini version of the Nova 3. But it mostly keeps the same specs as of the Nova 3. The 6.3-inch screen is the same one that is found on the Nova 3, which means the display is sharp and vibrant and eye-pleasing. The internal storage is still spacious at 128GB. But there are some sensible downgrades.
The processor is a midrange Kirin 710 which will still be plenty powerful for diurnal tasks like using Facebook, Youtube, Instagram. The 4GB RAM is a plenty even for multitasking fanatics. The front camera on the 3i is the same as found on the Nova 3. 24 MP should make all the selfie die-hards happy. The camera on the back is of a slightly different configuration. It is a dual 16MP+2MP sensor.
And though this processor doesn’t have the separate NPU (Neural Processing Unit) dedicated for AI as in the Kirin 970, the Kirin 710 does feature an improved Image Signal processor and a new Digital Signal processor for better photographic capabilities. The Nova 3i also has AI features such as scene recognition found on the Nova 3.

Nova 3i Price in Nepal: TBD
Nova 3 and the Nova 3i are exactly the kind of phones that we expected from a Nova series. Stylish and Camera-centric. They both are glass-backed and come in a gradient finish that slowly changes color as you look at the phones from different angles. On the software side, they are shipped with EMUI 8.2 which is Huawei’s skin on top of Android. The only thing now left to know is the pricing of these phones in Nepal. And if Huawei could keep the price of Nova 3 at around Rs 50,000 and of the 3i at around Rs. 38,000, these two phones might be the next best sellers from Huawei.
Nova 3 and Nova 3i will launch in Nepal soon. We are excited, what about you?
