OPPO Reno16 F Officially Lands in Nepal: Reno F Finally Gets an Upgrade

OPPO’s Reno F series has always been a miss after miss. Previous launches like the Reno14 F and the Reno15 F felt a bit off for the price. Now, OPPO has brought in the Reno16 F. There’s also the bigger sibling, the Reno16, but here we will primarily talk about the smaller sibling.

This time, things feel different. The phone seems to have gotten some genuinely interesting upgrades. But the important question is probably how much it costs.

What is the Price of OPPO Reno16 F in Nepal?

While the OPPO Reno16 F just launched officially in Nepal, the phone already made its debut in select countries like Malaysia and Thailand back in July, where it starts at RM 1,900 (~NPR 71,000) and THB 16,000 (~NPR 74,000), respectively.

However, the OPPO Reno16 F price in Nepal is Rs. 89,999 for the sole 8/256GB variant, which is quite high compared to its pricing in Malaysia and Thailand. That said, it is only Rs. 5,000 higher than our expected price.

OPPO officially launched the Reno16 F on September 15 in Nepal. As part of the launch offer, buyers get a 2-month replacement policy, covering any manufacturing defects or issues found during the period. The first 500 customers will also receive the OPPO Enco Air 3 Pro TWS, worth Rs. 3,499, for free.

However, unlike the Reno16, there is no discounted bundle offer for the OPPO Bubble with the Reno16 F. Buyers who want the OPPO Bubble will have to purchase it separately at its full retail price of Rs. 15,999.

All of these launch offers are valid until September 30.

The OPPO Reno F series hasn’t had a major upgrade since the OPPO Reno13 F. Sure, the screen size has changed, the selfie camera megapixels have gone back and forth, and the battery has touched the 7,000mAh mark, all fine on their own.

But in terms of performance and camera, the areas buyers usually keep a keen eye on, it’s been the same story: the same Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, and the same main, ultrawide, and macro camera setup.

Sure, the phone only follows a 6-month refresh cycle, which isn’t really enough time to expect major changes. But we’ve been getting the same core specs since the start of 2025, and that’s not okay. The Reno F series is in serious need of an upgrade.

And that’s exactly what the Reno16 F seems to be offering, at least on paper. Let’s see what it actually brings.

OPPO Reno16 F Overview

The Reno F series has always looked identical to its Reno numbered counterpart ever since the OPPO Reno13. The Reno13 F looked identical to the Reno13, the Reno14 F looked identical to the Reno14. Continuing that trend, the Reno16 F also looks identical to the Reno16.

It’s got a subtly raised squaricle camera module that doesn’t look slapped onto the back, a genuinely clean touch that doesn’t come across cheap at all. There are two large camera cutouts alongside a third mini cutout, with a flash right below it.

From the back, with that camera module, it does resemble an iPhone, but it still carries its own personality.

Build quality looks nice too. Depending on the color variant, you get two different back materials. The Pop White variant comes with a glass back, while the Twilight Violet and Dream Purple options get a composite plastic back instead. That said, all variants come with a plastic frame.

But despite the plastic frame, the phone still manages a premium look, even the fully plastic variant. The phone also features an IP66/68/69/69K rating.

The display continues that premium feel too. The bezels are thin, especially on the top and sides, though the bottom bezel is slightly thicker. You’d really have to look closely to notice the difference, though.

Other than that, the rest of the display specs are identical to the Reno15 F. It’s got the same 6.57-inch AMOLED panel with an FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Even the brightness numbers match. 600 nits typical and 1,400 nits HBM.

It’s not a bad display by any means, but you can find sharper 1.5K resolution displays at a similar price point elsewhere. As for protection, it uses Crystal Guard protection, the same one found on the OnePlus Nord 6.

In terms of internal hardware, the Reno16 F is finally getting an upgrade with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy chipset, after three iterations of the Reno F series sticking with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. It’s definitely a much-needed upgrade.

Performance-wise, the Dimensity 7300-Energy is a newer and more capable platform than the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, although the real-world difference will depend on optimization and thermals.

As for memory configuration, the phone is available in an 8/256GB configuration. However, there are 8/128GB and 12/256GB variants available globally.

The camera has also gotten a major upgrade, with the macro lens finally replaced by a 50MP telephoto lens supporting up to 3.5x optical zoom. Now, being a mini version of the Reno16, I was hoping to see the same telephoto setup as the Reno16. Sadly, that’s not the case, and the Reno16 F’s telephoto camera isn’t exactly the same as the one on the Reno16.

The rest of the camera setup hasn’t gotten any upgrades. It’s the same 50MP main camera paired with an 8MP ultrawide. The 50MP ultrawide selfie shooter also makes a return from the Reno15 F.

The battery remains the same 7,000mAh Si/C unit, paired with 80W SUPERVOOC wired fast charging.

The Reno16 F runs the latest Android 16 with OPPO’s ColorOS 16 on top. However, OPPO hasn’t clarified the software update roadmap yet, leaving questions about how long this phone will receive major OS upgrades.

The OPPO Reno16 F is shaping up to be a genuinely well-balanced smartphone, spec-wise. The build quality is nice, and the battery and charging are more than decent.

The processor and the FHD+ display do feel a bit underwhelming for the expected price. But I’m willing to overlook that, cause it features a telephoto lens, something that’s getting less and less common on upper midrange smartphones.

Last year, we had phones with telephoto lenses starting around Rs. 30,000. At this price range, phones with dedicated telephoto cameras are still relatively uncommon. There are just the HTC U24 Pro, the Vivo V70, and the Nothing Phone (4a).

So the addition of a telephoto lens on the Reno16 F is definitely a welcome move. And with pricing sitting right at Rs. 90,000, it’s definitely a strong contender for anyone after a decent camera setup.
