vivo V80 Lite Coming Soon in Nepal: But There’s One Big Problem

Ever since the vivo V40, the Lite variant of a V-series has always launched after the launch of the main model. The vivo V50 Lite came after the V50, the V60 Lite came after the V60, and so on. But for the second half of 2026, things are different. vivo has brought the vivo V80 Lite first.

However, unlike the previous V series Lite phones, vivo has actually launched two different phones under the same V80 Lite name. Both phones feature completely different designs with completely different specs. And looking at teasers from vivo Nepal, it looks like we’re getting the variant that’s currently only available in select countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh.

What is the Price of vivo V80 Lite in Nepal?

It’s no surprise that with each iteration of vivo phones, the price seems to be increasing steadily. The V50 Lite 5G started at Rs. 46,000, the V60 Lite 5G jumped to Rs. 49,000, and the V70 FE price touched the sky, launching at Rs. 62,999. At least the specs were miles ahead of the previous Lite phones each time.

But this time, the price could be exceptionally high, seeing that the phone launched at a higher price tag in countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh.

With those prices in mind, the vivo V80 Lite price in Nepal could land at Rs. 79,999 for the 8/128GB variant and Rs. 89,999 for the 8/256GB variant.

The phone hasn’t officially launched in Nepal yet. Although vivo Nepal has been teasing it since September, the official launch date for Nepal is not confirmed as of now.

Last time, instead of Lite, the V70 FE launched after the V70, as a mini version of it. That led me to think vivo had changed its naming scheme from Lite to FE, just like their more premium X300 FE or X200 FE.

But vivo did a complete 180 and launched the V70 Lite about 4 months after the V70, another mini version of the same phone. So it’s kind of confusing where these three tiers actually sit, spec-wise. Looking at it, the Lite sits at the bottom, the FE sits right above it, and then comes the popular V-series itself.

As I mentioned, there’s just the V80 Lite for now; there’s no talk of either a V80 or a V80 FE yet.

vivo V80 Lite Overview

The vivo V80 Lite’s design feels like vivo is taking things back to its roots. It’s got curves, just like we used to see on older vivo series phones like the V60. Last time, the V70 series switched to a flatter approach, but this time, we’re seeing that change again. To be honest, I’ve always loved the curved design on a V series phone. It gives the phone a bit of personality and uniqueness.

There are curves on both the front and back, and thanks to the curved front, the bezels look noticeably minimal.

Waterproofing has also received a much-needed upgrade, jumping from IP65 on the V70 Lite to IP68/69 on the V80 Lite, which is genuinely impressive.

vivo has also gone a different route with the camera module this time. So as opposed to the pill-shaped module we saw on the previous FE and Lite V series phones, the V80 Lite this time gets a camera plateau, much like the one on the iPhone Air, but with a dual-camera cutout. At the other end of the camera island, there’s the iconic flash ring, though from the official overview of the phone, it doesn’t look like it’ll feature an aura light like the one on the V60.

Moving to the display, it’s also great. It’s a 6.83-inch screen, but what’s great is that the resolution has finally received an upgrade. The Lite models have only ever come with an FHD+ display, so it’s good to see a 1.5K resolution panel on the V80 Lite. Other than that, it’s an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Brightness is also quite decent, with 2,000 nits on HBM, peaking at 3,000 nits.

There’s nothing new on the performance front. The V80 Lite runs the same MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Turbo chipset found on the V70 FE and V60 Lite, paired with 8GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. So raw performance should stay largely the same as its predecessors, since the hardware is nearly identical across the board.

The camera is likely going to be a major bummer, cause it only has one rear camera. Yes, in this day and age, vivo for some reason decided that the mini version of a camera-centric midranger should be okay with just a single 50MP main sensor. There is a 2MP depth sensor too, but that’s mostly there to assist with portrait shots and won’t do much for actual versatility. And to make matters worse, the sensor size is 1/2.93″, which is way smaller than the one on the V60 Lite or the V70 Lite.

The selfie camera, however, remains the same 32MP as on previous Lite phones, except the aperture is slightly wider at ƒ/2.0, up from ƒ/2.5. That means slightly better light intake, which should result in more detailed selfies in low-light conditions.

For battery, it gets a 7,050mAh Si/C unit, a nice upgrade over the previous V70 Lite and V60 Lite. But another unnecessary downgrade is the charging speed, capped at 44W, a significant drop from the 90W we’re used to. In fact, we’ve been getting 80W or above charging ever since the vivo V30 Lite, so sliding back to roughly half that feels like a real step backward.

On the software side, the phone boots on Android 16 with OriginOS 6 and comes with 3 years of OS upgrades alongside security patches.

The phone does feel like a much-needed upgrade to the V series Lite lineup in some aspects like display and battery. But there are some questionable downgrades too. I can live with the binned charging, and I would have even given it a pass if the display had stayed at FHD+. But for a Lite version of a camera-centric midranger, the missing ultrawide is a big no.

An ultrawide opens up a lot for photography: wider scenic shots, group photos in tight spaces, even everyday framing that a single main lens just can’t capture. It matters for casual users too, not just enthusiasts.

Getting rid of it completely seems like a questionable call. And with the phone likely costing north of Rs. 70,000, at that price, you can find phones with a complete camera setup: main, ultrawide, and even a telephoto lens. So, seeing that you’re only getting a single main camera here is more than a deal-breaker.
