UMIDIGI entered the Nepalese market in 2017 but has been constantly making headlines for announcing the imminent release of its phones in Nepal. But, it hasn’t actually brought any new device to the market recently. Aside from the release of 5 phones near the end of last year, UMIDIGI has only released a single phone – the S2 Pro – in 2018.
There had been rumors of the release of the Z2 Pro and the S2 Lite, but those phones never materialized. However, this time UMIDIGI has indicated on its Facebook page that two new phones; UMIDIGI one and UMIDIGI one pro will be coming soon to Nepal. So we’re excited.
UMIDIGI One and One Pro Overview
UMIDIGI ONE and the ONE pro are true UMIDIGI phones. They bring style in cheap. The ONE only costs $169 dollars, which may translate to around 25K NRs after VAT and all. For your money, you are getting a lot with the UMIDIGI ONE and the ONE PRO. The screen for example now covers nearly 90% of the front of the phone and there is a stereo speaker setup, the inclusion of which in itself is crazy because many expensive handsets like the OnePlus 6 don’t have it.
Inside, they house the Helio P23 chip from MediaTek, the chip promises improved performance and reduced power consumption with its 16nm process technology. It has 8-cores of processor reaching 2.0GHz max, while the ARM Mali G71 MP2 clocks 700MHz. What this all means is that your normal apps like Facebook, Instagram, and youtube will run just fine. And with the 4GB RAM, multitasking should be smooth.
A Full HD display for this screen size would have been better but UMIDIGI has gone with an HD panel. This does help them conserve battery power though, and that may be more important to some people. With the 3550 mAh (3250 on the ONE PRO) the battery life on these devices shouldn’t be a problem to anyone. It should last you all day on a single charge whatever your use case.
We haven’t tested the dual cameras on the back of the phones, so we can’t comment on the photo quality yet. But judging them through the paper. They would perform just fine on good lighting conditions producing some satisfactory shots. But we don’t have much hope for low light performance at this price point. The 16MP secondary camera though sounds interesting.

The only difference between the UMIDIGI ONE and the ONE PRO seems to be on the internal storage capacity and the battery capacity, with the One PRO surprisingly losing out the battle on the battery though it has the PRO moniker with it.
Both these models are available in Carbon Fibre and Twilight colors internationally. Which colors will be made available in Nepal is still unknown. If priced appropriately, these devices could be one of the better mid-range handsets on the market of Nepal.
