2020 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is now available in Nepal.
Jagdamba Motors, the authorized distributors of TVS motorcycles in Nepal, announced the launch via a Facebook live event.
As expected, the new launch brings an updated design along with updated features.
However, that wasn’t the main highlight of the show. So, what was the main highlight?
The new TVS Apache RTR 200 4V features a BS6 design with a BS4 engine!
Yes, you heard me right.
TVS Nepal launched the new RTR 200 4V with a new design. However, the engine is still the carburetor one. So, it may look like a BS6 variant, but it’s a BS4 inside.
According to TVS representative, the new 200cc Apache bike is designed specifically for the Nepali market.
If you think about it, TVS Nepal has done this before.
TVS NTorq Race Edition was supposed to launch with a BS6 engine. Instead, we saw the NTorq Race Edition launch in Nepal with the BS6 design with the BS4 engine.
In the era of automakers’ hiking prices for BS6 updates, TVS went the other way.
With that surprising twist out of the way, let’s move on to everything about everything tidbits about the new TVS Apache RTR 200 4V ABS.

2020 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V ABS
While the design does feel different, it’s not.
The overall body design and graphics remain unchanged. However, the headlight goes through a drastic change.
In the new Apache RTR 200 4V ABS, it gets an “ant-head” shaped LED headlamp along with redesigned DRLs.
It tries to give the bike a sportier appeal. Plus, it does improve nighttime visibility.
Like most things in life, the reception has been polarizing.
Let’s do this one more time.
TVS Apache RTR 200 4V ABS comes with a BS4-compliant engine.
TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is powered by a 197.75cc, oil-cooled, 4V, carburetor engine. Moreover, it can generate a max power of 20.5PS at 8500rpm and max torque of 18.1Nm at 7000rpm.
Furthermore, it is mated to a 5-speed engine with an A-RT slipper clutch.
If you’ve ridden RTR 200 4V before, you’ll feel right at home.
The overall experience remains unchanged. So, it still lives by its “Racing DNA”. However, there are few new add-ons to improve (or add) on that experience.
So, what’s new in 2020 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V ABS?

Most of the features are self-explanatory. But I do want to touch on the “SmartXonnect” system.
So, what is TVS SmartXonnect?
TVS SmartXonnect is a Bluetooth-enabled tech that allows riders to connect RTR 200 4V to their phones.
After connecting their phone, riders can use RTR 200 4V digital console for navigation, race telemetry, tour mode, lean angle mode, crash alert, and call notifications.
We’ve already seen this feature work on TVS NTorq 125. Now, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V ABS has it as well.

Look at it in this way, it is one of a kind motorcycles which brings updated design and segment-first features.
You get all of that for just an extra Rs. 15,000. Sure, it doesn’t have a BS6 compliant FI engine.
However, I do think it’s a reasonable sacrifice with other things on offer.
