Samsung Galaxy S23 | S23 Plus Overview
Design
Both the S23 and the S23 Plus look identical except for the size. The S23 is smaller measuring 146.3 x 70.9 x 7.6 mm and weighing only 168g, whereas the bigger S23 Plus measures 157.8 x 76.2 x 7.6 mm and weighs 196g.
Samsung has abandoned the camera island design on both devices. This year, the company has opted for a minimal three-ring setup similar to the Galaxy Ultra, unifying the appearance of the trio.
This new design is expected to be used across most of its new phones launching this year, including budget and mid-range devices. The recently launched Samsung Galaxy A14 5G is one of the first to feature this new design.
Other than that, the phones look similar to the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, with a flat Infinity-O display, metal frame, and a flat glass back. Both the front and back glass, however, have been upgraded to Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and the phone still retains its IP68 water and dust resistance.
Samsung offers four color options for the S23 series: Phantom Black, Cream, Green, and Lavender. However, only Lavender and Green S23 Plus, and Cream and Green S23 are currently available in Nepal.

Display
The display measures the same as last year. 6.6 inches of the bigger Galaxy S23 Plus and 6.1 inches of the standard Galaxy S23. They both are Full HD+ AMOLED displays with an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 48Hz to 120Hz.
The low 1Hz refresh rate capability is still reserved for the display of the Ultra model only. The peak brightness of the display is 1750nits, which is the same as last year for the Plus model, but an upgrade for the vanilla S23 from the 1300nits on the S22.
The “Vision Booster” feature on the device, which adjusts the screen according to the ambient lighting and improves color contrast for better visibility, now offers three levels of adjustment instead of two. This update aims to reduce brightness and glare when using the device in daylight.
Hardware
Powering the Galaxy S23 series is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset for Galaxy.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 uses TSMC’s 4nm technology and boasts a new CPU microarchitecture in a 1+4+3 configuration with four CPU clusters that combine the flagship Arm Cortex-X3 core, three power-efficient Cortex-A510 cores, and four performance cores.
In contrast to earlier models, Qualcomm has chosen to use two different CPU cores in the performance cluster, consisting of two newer Arm Cortex-A715 cores and two older Cortex-A710 cores.
The term “for Galaxy” indicates that the chipset has been overclocked specifically for the S23 series with the primary Arm Cortex-X3 CPU operating at a maximum of 3.36GHz and an overclocked GPU.
Both the S23 and S23 Plus models feature 8GB of RAM. Internationally, the S23 has storage options of 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB, while the S23 Plus comes with 256GB or 512GB. All the models come with UFS 4.0 storage, except the base 128GB S23 which has UFS 3.1 storage technology.
However, in Nepal, both models have a fixed configuration of 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
Camera
The S23 and the S23 Plus both sport the same cameras as last year, including a 50MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 12MP ultrawide with f/2.2 aperture and a 120-degree field of view, and a 10MP telephoto with f/2.4 aperture and 36-degree field of view.
The main camera has been updated to shoot 8K video at 30fps, an improvement from the previous 24fps limit. It also retains the ability to shoot 4K at 30fps and 1080p at 240fps.
The front-facing camera has been upgraded to a 12MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture and now has autofocus capabilities. It also now has the ability to shoot HDR video at 60fps, up from 30fps.
Battery and OS
The Galaxy S23 comes with a 3900mAh battery, and the Galaxy S23 Plus comes with a 4700mAh battery. Both are 200mAh larger than their last-gen counterparts.
The larger battery combined with efficient 8 Gen 2 and claimed improved cooling system should provide a better battery life to both phones.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 series boots on Android 13 OS topped with Samsung’s One UI 5.1. Samsung promises four generations of Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus Price in Nepal and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus price in Nepal is Rs. 1,34,999 (8/256GB), while the Samsung Galaxy S23 price in Nepal is Rs. 1,24,999 (8/256GB) after a limited-time cashback.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Series | Price in Nepal | Price After Cashback |
---|---|---|
S23 (8/256GB) | Rs. 127999 | Rs. 124999 |
S23 Plus (8/256GB) | Rs. 151999 | Rs. 134999 |
The Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus are the more “affordable” smartphones from the flagship S23 series. Although overall similar to the last year, it has a more minimal design with an island-free camera design, giving the S23 trio a cohesive look.
The duo has a more powerful and power-efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and a larger battery. Additionally, there’s a new selfie camera, but other than these updates, the S23 series remains largely unchanged, which is not necessarily bad, since there was little to complain about the S22 series.
