Samsung Galaxy S22 Overview

The Samsung Galaxy S22, like the S22+, is very similar to its predecessor, with no significant differences, unlike the S22 Ultra. It has the same Countour Cut rear camera design housing that blends into the phone’s frame, has a flat screen, and is IP68 rated.

The back of the glass, on the other hand, is made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ this time, as opposed to the previously used plastic back. For the frame, Samsung has used its Armor Aluminium metal.

The other changes are that the camera housing matches the phone’s body colour and the sides are now flat.

It sports a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, which is slightly smaller than the S21’s display but by only 0.1 inches. Unlike the larger S22+, the S22’s peak brightness remained unchanged from its predecessor at 1300nits.

It’s an FHD+ display with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. The display features an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and is topped with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ for protection.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 comes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.

The chipset is built on a 4nm process and is designed in a tri-cluster structure comprised of a single powerful Arm Cortex-X2 flagship-core, three performance and efficiency balanced Cortex-A710 big-cores, and four power-efficient Cortex-A510 little-cores.

For the GPU, Snapdragon has an Adreno 730.

Unlike the S22+, it does not support Wi-Fi 6E. For the memory, it comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

It has the same camera layout as the bigger Galaxy S22+. It has a 50MP main camera, up from 12MP, a 10MP telephoto camera, down from 64MP, and the same 10MP ultra-wide camera.

The main camera, according to Samsung, is 23% larger when compared to the S21 or S21 Plus, resulting in better details in low-light conditions. The new telephoto lens zooms even further than the S21’s 1.1x optical zoom, with a 3x optical zoom.

The 10MP front-facing camera is unchanged. For the video, the rear camera can shoot up to 8K at 24 fps, while both the front and rear can record up to 4K UHD at 60 fps.

Battery and Others

The Samsung Galaxy S22 has a smaller 3700mAh battery and it supports 25W fast charging—the S22+ and the S22 Ultra supports up to 45W. The wireless charging, on the other hand, supports up to 15W.

In terms of software, the phone comes with One UI 4.1 on top of Android 12 out-of-the-box. Samsung has committed to providing four generations of Android OS upgrades.
