Honor Pad V9 Arrives in Nepal Over a Year Late: Worth the Wait or Worth Skipping?

 HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Honor Pad V9 price in Nepal is Rs. 69,999 (8/256GB).
  • The tablet features an 11.5-inch screen and a 10,100mAh battery.
  • It’s powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Elite chipset and a 10,100mAh battery.

It looks like Honor Nepal has had enough of the budget tablet space, because they have launched something a lot more serious. And it’s the Honor Pad V9. Before you get your hopes up, it’s not a flagship tablet, but it is priced right alongside the Xiaomi Pad 8, which is significantly more than what Honor usually asks for a tablet here. So, hopes are pretty high.

The Pad V9 launched alongside the Honor 600 and 600 Pro, and the new Honor MagicBook X16, making it quite a packed launch event from Honor Nepal.

In the gadget world, where new tech drops constantly, a year and a half old tablet is practically ancient. But luckily, the Pad V9 has aged well. It features a solid SoC, a stunning display, and an eight-speaker audio setup that genuinely deserves a chef’s kiss.

So does the age actually matter? Let’s get into the overview and find out.

Honor Pad V9 Overview

Honor Pad V9 Thickness

The Honor Pad V9 is a surprisingly slim tablet for what it packs. Coming in at just 6.1mm thin and weighing 475g, it is one of the slimmest tablets you can find at this price, second to Xiaomi Pad 8’s 5.75mm. It definitely does not feel like a budget device when you hold it.

The build is a clean aluminium unibody with a glass front, which gives it a genuinely premium feel. One thing worth noting is that the Pad V9 does not carry any IP rating, so keep it away from water. No splashes, no rain. Just a clean, dry desk.

The 11.5-inch IPS LCD display is where the Honor Pad V9 starts to impress. It runs a 2.8K resolution with a 3:2 aspect ratio, giving it a taller canvas that is great for reading, documents, and multitasking. The pixel density sits at 291PPI and pushes the refresh rate all the way to 144Hz, just like Xiaomi Pad 8, making scrolling and animations noticeably smoother.

Brightness peaks at 500 nits, which is decent for indoor use, though direct sunlight will still be a challenge. The Xiaomi Pad 8 does have a slight edge in overall display brightness with 800 nits peak. The display also covers the DCI-P3 color gamut and supports 1.07 billion colors, so content will look vibrant and accurate.

The audio setup on the Pad V9 is genuinely impressive, with eight speakers, Spatial Audio, Hi-Res Audio, and DTS:X support.

A common complaint on most tabarets is that audio sounds “tinny”. At this price, eight speakers is a serious differentiator. Plus, combined with the large display, media consumption on the Pad V9 should be a genuinely enjoyable experience.

Under the hood, the Honor Pad V9 runs the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Elite, the same chip found on popular phones like the OnePlus Nord CE 5 and Infinix GT 30 Pro. For a tablet, this is a genuinely capable chipset that handles multitasking, streaming, and light gaming without breaking a sweat.

That said, if you are comparing it with the Xiaomi Pad 8, which runs the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, the Xiaomi wins by a significant margin on raw performance. So if performance is the absolute top priority, the Pad 8 is the stronger option there.

Paired with the Dimensity 8350 Elite is 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, the exact same memory configuration as the Xiaomi Pad 8. The Blackview Mega 12, however, offers a 12/256GB variant, giving it more RAM at the cost of a weaker chipset. There is no microSD card slot on the Pad V9, and only a Wi-Fi model is available in Nepal; there is no cellular option here.

For cameras, the Pad V9 comes with a 13MP rear shooter and an 8MP front camera, both with f/2.0 aperture. Not particularly exciting, but not terrible either. The rear camera is decent enough for scanning documents or the occasional shot, and the 8MP front camera should handle video calls well enough.

The battery is a 10,100mAh Si/C unit, and the silicon-carbon chemistry here is worth noting, as it allows for a higher energy density in a slimmer body. That is a big reason why the Pad V9 can be just 6.1mm thin while still carrying a massive battery.

Charging, however, is only 35W. It’s a bit disappointing for a 10,100mAh unit. At least 45W would have been ideal here, and it is honestly the one area where the Pad V9 feels like it cut a corner.

On the software side, the Pad V9 runs Android 15 with MagicOS 9.0 on top. Given that it is an older phone making its way to Nepal now, you are getting a slightly dated Android version, and that is something you will have to live with. Software support details have not been officially confirmed for the Pad V9, but Honor’s recent track record of 6 years of updates on newer devices is encouraging. Just do not count on that promise extending to the Pad V9, given its age.

The Honor Pad V9 is genuinely impressive for what it offers. It’s got a stunning display, great speakers, a solid SoC, and a massive battery all packed into a 6.1mm slim aluminium body. For media consumption and everyday use, it is hard to fault.

But here is the thing: the Xiaomi Pad 8 exists at the same price. It brings a faster Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, an even better display, and it is a newer device. The Pad V9 does fight back with that eight-speaker setup over the Pad 8’s quad speakers and the significantly larger battery. But overall, the Xiaomi Pad 8 edges ahead on value, and that is a tough pill to swallow for a tablet that is over a year and a half old.
