Samsung started flipping and folding back in 2020, and every year since then, we’ve had the option to either Flip or Fold. And this year, there are three new options: the Z Flip8, Z Fold8, and Z Fold8 Ultra. Here, we’ll discuss only the Z Flip8, which is the cheapest of the three.

Among all the foldables, the Z Flip8 looks like the least updated compared to its predecessor, the Z Flip7. Mostly because, at first glance, it looks the same as the Flip7. There are, however, some underlying changes, especially on the software side, that could make the Flip8 a more refined experience.
Personally, the Flip has always been the most interesting and fun-to-use foldable, and I don’t think it needed a major redesign, especially considering the upgrades Samsung brought with the Flip7. So, let’s take a look at what’s new with the Z Flip8.
What is the Price of Galaxy Z Flip8 in Nepal?
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 starts at $1,199.99 for the 12/256GB variant in the US and is already on sale. In India, the same variant costs INR 124,999, which roughly translates to NPR 200,400. Based on the Indian pricing, we expected the Z Flip8 to cross the Rs. 210,000 mark in Nepal.
Thankfully, it landed slightly below our estimate and a bit cheaper than its Indian counterpart. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 price in Nepal is Rs. 1,94,999 for the 12/256GB variant.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 has officially launched in Nepal, with pre-booking ending today, August 26. The phone is now available for purchase through Samsung-authorized stores and online retailers across Nepal.
While the pre-order period has ended, Samsung is still offering six months of Google AI Pro for free, which was previously included as part of the pre-order benefits. The subscription normally costs $19.99 per month and includes 5TB of storage, with users able to redeem the offer through the Gemini app.
Samsung is also offering an EMI option for the Galaxy Z Flip8, starting at Rs. 5,291 per month for 24 months. The EMI process requires only your citizenship, making it easier to spread out the cost of the foldable.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 is Samsung’s clamshell-style foldable smartphone. And while it looks almost identical to the Galaxy Z Flip7, there are some meaningful changes underneath, including faster performance, a lighter design, a less noticeable crease, and a more useful cover screen.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 Overview
The Samsung Z Flip8 shares the same design as the Flip7, but Samsung has used a smoother Armor FlexHinge and redesigned the inner bezel to make the phone easier to open and close. Likewise, it’s now 0.4mm slimmer when unfolded and 0.6mm slimmer when folded. Plus, it is now 8g lighter than the Flip7.
The IP48 dust and water resistance and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the rear panel remain unchanged. As for the colors, the Flip8 is available in four options: Pink, Graphite, Cream, and Mint.

The display specs look like a straight copy-paste from the Flip7. The cover display has a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED panel, while the inner display has the same 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED panel. Both panels support a 120Hz refresh rate, can reach up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness, and support HDR10+. The cover display protection also remains unchanged, with Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
Just like the Flip7, the Flip8 also gets different chipsets depending on the region. While most markets, including Nepal, get the Exynos 2600, users in China and North America will get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
However, the Flip8 only gets 12GB of RAM. Storage options are also limited to UFS 4.0 256GB only.

The Flip8 also doesn’t get any upgrades in the camera department. It’s still equipped with the same dual-camera setup as the Flip7: a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera. Even the 10MP selfie camera remains unchanged.

Finally, there’s a change in the battery department, and surprisingly, it’s not the capacity. The Flip8 still has the same 4,300mAh battery, but Samsung has swapped the traditional lithium-ion battery for a modern silicon-carbon one. Another surprise, and a more disappointing one, is the charging speed, which is still stuck at 25W. For a flagship phone, this just doesn’t cut it. Similarly, wireless charging and reverse wireless charging remain unchanged at 15W and 4.5W, respectively.

If you’ve been craving some changes, the wait finally ends here. The Z Flip8 runs on the latest Android 17 with One UI 9. And, of course, Samsung’s excellent software support is here too, with seven major Android upgrades promised.
But the more interesting change is how much more useful the cover screen has become. You can now run any app directly on the cover screen, along with a customized app drawer and a recent apps screen. You also get access to more widgets, making the cover screen much more practical for everyday use.
The Flip8 gets almost all of the AI features found on the Samsung S26 Ultra, but Samsung has also introduced something new: My FanCam. It’s a Galaxy AI editing feature that can track an individual in a group video and keep that person in frame throughout the video. And yes, the name is inspired by the fan cam footage of K-pop stars!

The Galaxy Z Flip8 is still that fun, quirky flip phone, but now it’s a little more refined. Samsung hasn’t changed much about the Flip8, with the same design, displays, cameras, and charging speeds, but the smoother hinge and more useful cover screen help enhance the overall experience.
The Flip8 doesn’t feel like a major upgrade, but it doesn’t really need to be. It’s still the fun phone that folds in half and fits easily in your pocket, just with a few thoughtful improvements that make it more practical to use every day.
