Redmi 15C is the successor to the widely popular Redmi 14C, which dominated this list before. However, with the competition taking leaps and Xiaomi not doing the same, 15C has taken a bit of a fall.

Thoughts on Redmi 15C

While the Redmi 15C is mostly similar to the Redmi 14C, which was widely popular last year, it does bring some meaningful upgrades.

The most notable upgrade this year is the 16% jump in battery size, which puts the cell capacity at 6,000mAh. The only other phone to outdo it in this department is the Realme Note 70.

The charging on this thing is now 33W, which is absolutely amazing — especially considering that even the base model of Samsung’s flagship offers speeds of only 25W. The screen on this thing is absolutely massive too — 6.9 inches. This is on par with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which, on itself is a beefy phone.

This massive screen and battery of the Redmi 15C do weigh on its build. It is a rather wide and thick phone, and using it one-handed is a bit inconvenient.

However, two things pull this phone down. First is the silicon of choice, which wasn’t bad for the Redmi 14C. But now, phones like the Motorola G05 (which comes later in this list) and the Honor Play 10 (the gold medalist of our best phones under Rs. 10,000 list) also rock the same chip. And they are quite a bit cheaper than the Redmi 15C.

The next is an increased price. Xiaomi, for some reason, decided to increase the price by Rs. 1,000 on the base model, Rs. 500 on the middle trim, and keep the top model’s price unchanged. So, this increase, coupled with the Helio G81 being available at a lower price, ultimately cost Redmi 15C a few spots on our list of best mobile phones under 15000 in Nepal.

4. Infinix Hot 60i

The Infinix Hot 60 Pro and Pro+ are among the best picks in their respective price categories. Similar to its higher counterparts, the Infinix Hot 60i carries the same energy, though to a comparatively lesser degree.

Thoughts on Infinix Hot 60i

As you may have already noticed, the Infinix Hot 60i shares much of its hardware with our previous entry. The display specs on both phones look almost the same, both of them are running the MediaTek Helio G81 (Ultimate and Ultra are just fillers, btw), and the camera resolutions are the same too, for both the back as well as the front.

This phone does have a smaller battery compared to the Redmi 15C, but it closes up the gap with a faster charging speed. The Infinix Hot 60i juices up at a rapid 45W, which is the fastest speed you get at this price. The only other phone to offer such speeds is the Oppo A5x.

Now, “what puts the Infinix Hot 60i above the Redmi 15C?”, you may be thinking. Two reasons. One Infinix Hot 60i has a more pleasing design than the Redmi. Yes, Infinix enjoys pretty privilege here. You are more likely to pick a phone with a better design if the specs are similar, after all.

And the other one is the camera. You can take QHD (1440p) videos on the Infinix, and it is the only phone in this price range to offer this option. So, yeah. These two minor points put the Infinix Hot 60i above the Redmi 15C.

3. Motorola Moto G05

Motorola Moto G05, on its own, doesn’t stand out as much. It has mostly similar specs to the previous entries. However, what pulls it in front of them is the price.

Thoughts on Motorola Moto G05

Once again, we have a very similar specification to the previous entries. The silicon is the same, while the optics look identical on paper. Once again, we have our differences in the battery and charging speed.

It has a 5,200mAh battery and only 18W charging speed, which isn’t all that great when compared to the Redmi 15C and Infinix Hot 60i. However, Motorola has some things which work in its favour.

The first is the design. I know, I said Infinix gets a pretty privilege, but this one is prettier. Okay? After all, Motorola has given its most budget offering the same look it has been giving its entire lineup. Then there is its vegan leather finish, adding to its charm! It’s probably the most affordable phone to rock such a finish.

The software on this phone is nice too. Motorola was known for offering a clean Android experience, even on its budget phones. Well, that is no longer the case, but the bloatware on the Motorola Moto G05 doesn’t feel as invasive. And the ads, which in my opinion were quite tastefully integrated, you can easily turn those off as well.

These facts, accompanied by the fact that the Motorola Moto G05 is the most affordable phone in our list of best mobile phones under 15000, make it easier to look over its shortcomings.

2. Ai+ Nova 5G

Ai+ Nova is a very interesting phone. It has some lore behind it, is the cheapest 5G phone in Nepal, doesn’t ship with bloatware, and talks highly of data privacy. But it is also one of the first products the company has put out. So, there is a place for eyebrows to be raised.

Thoughts on Ai+ Nova 5G

If we are to judge this phone purely from a hardware perspective, it might very well be the best phone there is. It has the UNISOC T8200 chipset, which is indeed a 5G chip. This processor is actually a rebrand of UNISOC T765!

Now, when the HMD Crest (which is our #2 pick for the best phones under Rs. 20,000, btw) entered the Nepali market with the UNISOC T760 chipset, our minds were blown. A 5G processor under 20K rupees sounded unreal! And here we are, some random brand is now offering a similar 5G chip under Rs. 15,000! So, it’s quite a big deal, you see.

It’s not a perfect phone by any means. Increasing the display’s brightness capabilities and maybe adding a storage option would have been much appreciated. Overall, the hardware is good, and the software doesn’t look half bad either (despite uncertainty regarding future updates). There isn’t much to complain about the phone itself.

Now, where the complaints are, is the brand itself. Ai+ is a new brand, and Nova 5G is their first product alongside the Nova Pulse. To their credit, the man behind the company, Madhav Seth, is a familiar face in the tech community. He previously co-founded another smartphone company, i.e. realme, and has been involved with Honor as well.

However, that does not give the Ai+ company full-fledged confidence. It still needs to prove itself in the market. Furthermore, the brand has a whole shtick about data privacy, top-notch after-sales service, and plans for service subscription going on, which are yet to be properly founded.

So, on pure price-to-hardware ratio, Ai+ Nova 5G is likely the best phone at this price point. But it is still understandable if you desire something more familiar, something with a solid foundation.

Thoughts on Samsung Galaxy A07

Samsung’s budget and midrange phones are normally questionable. What they offer leaves much to be desired specs-wise, but they sell really well just with the power of sheer brand value. Normally, that is.

Galaxy A07, on the other hand, is a different gravy. Samsung really cooked with this one. This phone packs the MediaTek Helio G99 for its processing prowess, and this chipset is really one of the most powerful 4G chipsets. Had it not been for Ai+ Nova and its 5G chip, this phone would have been “the phone” with the best performance at this price.

Now the software on this one is a top-shelf item. Samsung’s OneUI is widely acknowledged as the best Android skin out there, and the Galaxy A07 fully enjoys it. Furthermore, it is scheduled to get SIX years’ worth of software and security upgrades! Some phones triple the price of the Galaxy A07 aren’t even offering four years of updates, and Samsung is out here offering SIX years of it! Absolute class!

All this results in Samsung being a tad expensive. Its starting price is Rs. 1,000 higher than the competition, while only offering half the storage. But for a few thousand extra, you get a phone that “just works” and will continue to work for years to come.

Oppo A5x

The Oppo A5x comes close to making the top 5. It mainly focuses on endurance and durability. You get a 6,000mAh battery, 45W fast charging, MIL-STD-810 compliance, and an IP65 rating — the best protection in its class. Its Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 1 performs on par with the Helio G81 found in most rivals, and the rest of the specs are solid.

But the pricing holds it back. At Rs. 14,999 for 4/64GB, competitors offer 128GB, keeping it just outside the top 5.

Realme Note 70

The realme Note 70 is another close contender that narrowly misses the list. Its standout feature is the massive 6,300mAh battery — the biggest in its class, and performance is on par with rivals. But the rest of the package falls short. It has the slowest charging at 15W, a dim ~500-nit display when others hit 700+ nits, lower-resolution cameras, and bloat-heavy software.

Considering all that, the realme Note 70 ends up a bit less appealing overall.
