The Samsung A20 series has come a long way. Just two years back, the Galaxy A24 ran a Helio G99, a 4G chipset, paired with an HD+ display. Fast forward to 2026, and the Samsung Galaxy A27 is on its way for its global debut with a much more capable chipset and a much more premium display. And I can say with confidence that the phone has come a long way since then.

Ever since the A20 series entered the Rs. 40,000 price range with the Galaxy A25, I have been complaining that the water drop notch and thick chin bezels simply do not suit a phone at this price. With the Galaxy A27 this year, that is about to change.
What is the Price of Samsung Galaxy A27 in Nepal?
In Samsung’s smartphone lineup in Nepal, the Galaxy A20 series sits right below the A30 series and above the A10 series, and the pricing reflects that, too. To back that up, last year’s A26 was priced right above the A17‘s top variant and just below the A36‘s base variant.
This year, we will likely see something similar. And with the current US pricing of $350 for the 6/128GB variant, which converts to roughly Rs. 52,000, the Samsung Galaxy A27 price in Nepal could land at around Rs. 54,999 for the sole 6/128GB variant.
That said, the phone has not even made its global debut yet and is set to launch on July 3. So I could be well off on that estimate.
Unlike the more popular members of the A series, the A07, A17, A37, and A57, the A20 series has never really gotten much attention. It has always felt like the middle child of the lineup, easy to overlook.
But this time around, the middle child might just impress more than its siblings.

Samsung Galaxy A27 Overview
There is a subtle change in the overall design of the A27. Like most 2026 Samsung phones, it retains the pill-shaped camera module, and honestly, I think Samsung is sticking with it for good. It is clean, minimal, and there is nothing to complain about there.

The one thing I do want to complain about is the water resistance. The A26 last year had an IP67 rating, meaning the phone could technically survive accidental submersion. The A27, however, steps down to IP64, which only covers splashes.
The phone still features a glass back with a plastic frame, so the downgrade is a bit confusing. Regardless, the most impressive change is something you will notice the moment you turn on the display.
The Galaxy A27 has finally gotten its long-awaited display upgrade, a punch-hole notch, and more uniform bezels. I have personally been asking for this for a long time, and it is a much-needed change that makes the phone look noticeably more premium.
When you are expected to pay this much, the phone has got to look the part. The bezels are not perfectly uniform, and there is still a slight chin at the bottom, but it is a significant improvement over the A26.

While the new display design is a welcome upgrade, the specs underneath are fairly similar to last year’s. It features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display with 385PPI, almost identical to before. The only meaningful improvement is the 86.7% screen-to-body ratio, meaning you are getting more actual screen thanks to those thinner bezels.
There is nothing particularly new on the performance side either. The A27 runs the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, a breath of fresh air after two years of Exynos chips. But in terms of raw performance, the difference is not dramatic. Battery life on the chip is expected to be slightly better, but not by a landmark margin.
What really grinds my gears, though, is the memory. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 ships with just 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Last year, we got an 8/256GB combination, so this feels like a step back. Samsung may reveal more memory variants at the global launch on July 3, but there is a real chance the A20 series middle child is being quietly sidelined on memory. That is just my speculation, but it is worth keeping in mind.

Speculation aside, the camera has actually changed, but not in a good way. Before you panic, the 50MP main camera and the 2MP macro lens are both the same as last year. However, the ultrawide lens is just 5MP, a downgrade from 8MP, and the sensor size is also smaller. The selfie shooter has also taken a slight hit, dropping from 13MP to 12MP. Video recording remains the same, up to 4K at 30fps from the rear and 1080p at 30fps from the front.
The battery story is also the same as always. Samsung is once again going with the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach, a 5,000mAh unit, just like every other phone in their lineup from the budget A07 all the way to the premium A57. And it looks like Samsung is intentionally avoiding the silicon-carbon battery trend, which is perhaps understandable given their history.

For those who have forgotten, Samsung faced a serious battery safety crisis a few years back when the Galaxy Note 7 caught fire due to a battery defect, leading to a global recall. Ever since, Samsung has been noticeably cautious about pushing battery technology boundaries.
Either way, 5,000mAh is enough for everyday use, and the 25W fast charging helps soften the blow.
Let’s be honest, the specs so far are not groundbreaking. It is a typical Samsung offering in that sense, a touch underwhelming on raw numbers. But where Samsung wins, as always, is software support and user experience.
The A27 runs the latest Android 16 with One UI 8.5 on top. It is one of the cleanest Android experiences you can get, and the 6 years of OS and security updates make it a genuinely compelling long-term purchase.

As I mentioned, the Galaxy A27 falls a bit short on raw performance compared to what other phones offer at this price point. So if you are purely chasing the best bang for your buck, the Infinix GT 30 Pro, still available in mid-2026, remains a stronger pick on specs alone.
But if you are looking for a well-rounded Samsung experience, the A27 fills that slot perfectly. In previous years, the A26 was an easy pass, not because of its specs, but because of its dated design with that big chin and water drop notch. The A27 changes that. The phone looks clean, feels more premium, and the specs, while not extraordinary, are solid enough for a Samsung phone.
