Samsung Galaxy A27 Launched in Nepal with Slimmer Bezels and Punch-hole Display

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Samsung Galaxy A27 price in Nepal starts at Rs. 55,999 (6/128GB).
  • Samsung Galaxy A27 now comes with a punch-hole notch and slimmer bezels.
  • The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and comes with a 5,000mAh battery.

The Samsung A20 series has come a long way. Just two years back, the Galaxy A24 ran a Helio G99, a 4G chipset, paired with an HD+ display. Fast forward to 2026, and the Samsung Galaxy A27 has debuted with a significantly more capable chipset and a far more premium display. It’s clear Samsung has refined the formula over the years, and the Galaxy A27 stands as proof of that progress.

Ever since the A20 series entered the Rs. 40,000 price range with the Galaxy A25, I have been complaining that the water drop notch and thick chin bezels simply do not suit a phone at this price. With the Galaxy A27 this year, that is about to change.

Unlike the more popular members of the A series, the A07, A17, A37, and A57, the A20 series has never really gotten much attention. It has always felt like the middle child of the lineup, easy to overlook.

But this time around, the middle child might just impress more than its siblings.

Samsung Galaxy A27 Overview

There is a subtle change in the overall design of the A27. Like most 2026 Samsung phones, it retains the pill-shaped camera module, and honestly, I think Samsung is sticking with it for good. It is clean and minimal, and there is nothing to complain about there.

The one thing I do want to complain about is the water resistance. The A26 last year had an IP67 rating, meaning the phone could technically survive accidental submersion. The A27, however, steps down to IP64, which only covers splashes.

The phone still sticks with a glass back paired with a plastic frame, and an upgrade in this area would have certainly been appreciated. Regardless, the most impressive change is something you will notice the moment you turn on the display.

The Galaxy A27 has finally gotten its long-awaited display upgrade, a punch-hole notch, and more uniform bezels. I have personally been asking for this for a long time, and it is a much-needed change that makes the phone look noticeably more premium.

When you are expected to pay this much, the phone has got to look the part. The bezels are not perfectly uniform, and there is still a slight chin at the bottom, but it is a significant improvement over the A26.

While the new display design is a welcome upgrade, the specs underneath are fairly similar to last year’s. It features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display with 385PPI, almost identical to before. The only meaningful improvement is the 86.7% screen-to-body ratio, meaning you are getting more actual screen thanks to those thinner bezels. To further enhance the multimedia experience, the phone also comes equipped with stereo speakers.

There is nothing particularly new on the performance side either. The A27 runs the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, a breath of fresh air after two years of Exynos chips. But in terms of raw performance, the difference is not dramatic. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 in question offers only a modest 10-20% performance bump over last year’s Exynos chips. Battery life on the chip is expected to be slightly better, but not by a landmark margin.

The phone ships with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Like last year with A26, we are also getting an 8GB variant with 256GB storage.

The camera has changed, but not in a good way. Before you panic, the 50MP main camera and the 2MP macro lens are both the same as last year. However, the ultrawide lens is just 5MP, a downgrade from 8MP, and the sensor size is also smaller. The selfie shooter has also taken a slight hit, dropping from 13MP to 12MP. Video recording remains the same, up to 4K at 30fps from the rear and 1080p at 30fps from the front.

The battery story is also the same as always. Samsung is once again going with the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach, a 5,000mAh unit, just like every other phone in their lineup from the budget A07 all the way to the premium A57. It looks like Samsung is intentionally avoiding the silicon-carbon battery trend, which is perhaps understandable given their history.

For those who have forgotten, Samsung faced a serious battery safety crisis a few years back when the Galaxy Note 7 caught fire due to a battery defect, leading to a global recall. Ever since, Samsung has been noticeably cautious about pushing battery technology boundaries.

Either way, 5,000mAh is enough for everyday use, and the 25W fast charging helps soften the blow.

Let’s be honest, the specs so far are not groundbreaking. It is a typical Samsung offering in that sense, a touch underwhelming on raw numbers. But where Samsung wins, as always, is software support and user experience.

The A27 runs the latest Android 16 with One UI 8.5 on top. It is one of the cleanest Android experiences you can get, and the 6 years of OS and security updates make it a genuinely compelling long-term purchase.

Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and a USB-C port. Samsung has also packed in a suite of Galaxy AI features, including Circle to Search, Object Eraser, and Voice Transcription. At the same time, users can choose between Google Gemini, Perplexity AI, and Samsung Bixby as their default AI assistant.

The two Galaxy A27 variants compete in completely different price segments. The 6GB model falls into the Rs. 50,000 bracket, while the 8GB variant pushes close to Rs. 70,000. Unfortunately, the Galaxy A27 struggles to stand out in either.

At around Rs. 50,000, the 6GB model goes up against phones like the Infinix GT 30 Pro and Infinix Note 60 Pro, both of which offer significantly better performance and overall value. Step up to the 8GB variant, and you’re suddenly in POCO F7 territory with 12GB of RAM, or even close to the Nothing Phone (4a), which brings a dedicated telephoto camera to the table.

Even within Samsung’s own lineup, things get awkward. The Galaxy A37 (8/256GB) costs less after discounts while offering a more capable chipset, making it a more sensible buy.

That’s exactly why I think Samsung could introduce a discount in the coming weeks. At its current pricing, the Galaxy A27 sits in an awkward position where it simply doesn’t offer the best value in either of the price segments it competes in. A Rs. 5,000 price cut would make it a much more compelling option.
