Redmi 14C Overview
Design
In terms of design, the 14C looks drastically different from its predecessor. Now sporting a large circular camera bump surrounding what looks like ‘four’ cameras on the rear.
The flat plastic side rails feature the volume and power buttons on the right, a SIM card tray on the left, a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top, and a USB-C charging port on the bottom.
What’s interesting this time is the phone now comes in two separate, glossy and vegan-leather, finishes. The Starry Blue option in particular looks unique as it has a silver/blue color scheme with streaks that represent stars circling the camera hump scattered all over the rear panel.

Display
On the front, Redmi has opted to stick with a 720p IPS LCD display with a waterdrop notch that houses the selfie camera. However, what’s different is the display is now a larger 6.88-inch panel that can reach a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz during use.
Besides that, the 720 x 1640p display has a typical max brightness of 450nits and an HBM mode that reaches 600nits under bright conditions.
Hardware
Now looking on the inside, the smartphone now comes with a MediaTek Helio G81-Ultra processor. The octa-core chip has 2x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 and 6x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 processors and a Mali-G52 MC2 graphics processor.
On paper, the Helio G81-Ultra looks virtually identical to the old Helio G85 processor in terms of specs, even as far as sporting the same graphics processor and the same clock speed. This means we can expect the Redmi 14C to carry out tasks as quickly as the 13C in terms of performance.
To load and store information, the phone comes with the following memory configurations: 128GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 6GB RAM, and 256GB 8GB RAM. Besides that, Redmi has also included a microSD card slot for further user flexibility.
Lastly, summing up the hardware, the phone has a mono speaker setup on the bottom alongside a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
Camera
Now onto the optics, the Redmi 14C comes with a dual-camera setup, of which one is an auxiliary lens, meaning it serves no actual purpose besides being there. The only usable camera is the singular 50MP shooter that has an aperture of f/1.8 and supports PDAF.
Similarly, on the front, there is now a higher-resolution 13MP camera to take selfies and for face unlock. Both the rear and the front cameras can record up to 1080p at 30 frames per second.
Battery and OS
This time the phone comes with a slightly larger 5140mAh cell that supports 18W charging. Redmi claims that the new battery supports 22 hours of continuous video playback and up to 42 hours of voice calls on a single charge.
