OPPO surprised the Nepali market by bringing back the much popular Reno numbered series after two years. And now, they have added a new phone to their A series lineup, the OPPO A6.

Previously, the A series was considered budget or even entry-level. But OPPO has given the A6 some upgrades this time around. Can these upgrades actually make the phone desirable? Let’s find out.
What is the Price of OPPO A6 in Nepal?
The last iteration before the OPPO A6 was the OPPO A5, which was priced slightly above Rs. 20,000. And now the OPPO A6 price in Nepal is Rs. 38,999 for the 8/256GB variant. That’s not Rs. 5,000, not Rs. 10,000, but a massive Rs. 16,000 bump from the previous generation.
The OPPO A6 is now officially available for purchase through authorized OPPO retail stores. Buyers will also receive an extended warranty if they make the purchase before April 11. On top of that, OPPO is also offering 0% EMI with a 40% down payment to make the A6 more affordable.
Last year, among all the OPPO A5 series phones, the A5 Pro, A5, and A5x, the A5x offered the most value for money, mainly because it was an entry-level phone at an entry-level price.
But with the A6, the pricing seems a bit off. Then again, OPPO phones have always sat on the opposite end of the aggressive pricing spectrum. But maybe they have improved the phone quite a bit to justify competing in the lower mid-range segment.
Well, without further delay, let’s get into it and find out.

OPPO A6 Overview
Compared to the previous generation, the phone now looks quite different due to the square camera module, and the ring light is also gone. The main highlight of the phone is the battery, which we will get into shortly, but this has also made the phone noticeably thicker, gaining 0.6mm to now sit at 8.6mm.

OPPO has also added stereo speakers and upgraded the ingress protection from IP65 to IP69, compared to the OPPO A5.
Flip the phone over, and you will be greeted with some thick bezels. For a budget phone, this would not have been an issue, but for the A6, which costs close to Rs. 40,000, this issue is as big as its bezels. The display itself is quite subpar as well.
OPPO Nepal officials mentioned that the phone runs an AMOLED screen. However, I did not find any mention of an AMOLED screen officially.
But I think they are really stretching it, and it also does not help that it is an HD+ panel. At least there are some upgrades, like a 120Hz refresh rate and a slightly bumped brightness that now peaks at 1,125 nits.
The display features a punch-hole notch housing an 8MP selfie sensor. On the rear, there is a 50MP main sensor paired with a 2MP monochrome lens, similar to the A6 Pro.
The A6 runs the Snapdragon 685 (6nm), which is an upgrade over the previous generation’s 11nm SoC, though not by a huge margin. For memory, the phone gets a generous 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, along with a microSD card slot for expansion.

The battery has been upgraded to a 7,000mAh unit, 1,000mAh more than the previous generation. However, charging remains the same at 45W. Lastly, the phone ships with Android 15 with ColorOS 15 on top.

From the overview alone, the specs and the price are clearly not in sync, and it is clear that the OPPO A6 is trying a bit too hard to compete in the lower mid-range segment.
While a larger battery and higher memory are nice to have, the rest of the specs, a 4G processor and an HD+ display, really make no sense in the under Rs. 40,000 price segment, especially when heavy hitters like the CMF Phone 2 Pro and Infinix GT 30 exist and offer far better value.
Just like what happened with the A5 series, hopefully, we get an OPPO A6x priced more aggressively and offering better value than the A6.
