Oppo A31 with Helio P35 and Triple Camera Launched in Nepal

Oppo has been quiet regarding new smartphone launches since the start of lockdown. But now they have its new budget smartphone Oppo A31 in Nepal.

Oppo A31 price in Nepal is Rs. 26,590 and it’s available in 4GB RAM/128GB ROM variant only.

Oppo A31 is the latest A series phone from Oppo after the launch of A5 2020 and A9 2020.

Oppo A31 Overview

Design

Oppo A31 isn’t unique in terms of design. It feels like just another mid-ranger with a vertically stacked triple camera along vertically with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. And, it has a glossy finish on a plastic back.

Upfront, it has a waterdrop notch with minimal bezels all around. Oppo A31 comes in two colors: Mystery black and Fantasy White.

Display

Oppo A31 comes with a 6.5 inches IPS LCD display. It’s an HD display with a screen resolution of 720X1600 pixels and an 82.4% scree-to-boy ratio.

The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and Oppo claims max brightness of 480 nits.

Hardware

Powering Oppo A31 is Mediatek’s Helio P35 chipset. Its built-in 12nm process and has Octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU along with PowerVR GE8320 GPU.

To top it off, Oppo A31 comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.

MediaTek Helio P35 is an old chipset. Previously we have seen this chipset on affordable smartphones like Oppo A5s.

So, I’m quite not sure why Oppo is using the same old chipset on a new smartphone.

Helio P35 might have been a good budget chipset a year ago but it’s nowhere near competition right now.

Camera

Oppo is advertising Oppo A31 as a camera phone as they usually do with most of their smartphones.

It comes with three cameras on the rear: a 12MP main sensor, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor. It’s surprising that it does not include an ultrawide sensor.

Upfront, it has an 8MP camera for selfies.

Battery

Oppo A31 has a big 4230 mAh battery that can last up to 14 hours of HD videos online according to Oppo.

But it does not support fast charging.

Furthermore, Oppo A31 runs on Color OS 6.1 on top of Android 9.

Oppo A31 Price in Nepal and Availability

Oppo A31 price in Nepal is Rs. 26,590 for the 4GB/128GB variant. It is available in two colors: Mystery Black and Fantasy White.

Oppo A31 doesn’t have compelling hardware. It is still using the same hardware as older Oppo A5s. Plus, it doesn’t seem to be better than the Oppo A5 2020 which is available for the starting price of Rs. 22,990.

It joins recently launched phones like Vivo Y30, Realme 6i, and Samsung A21s that include a 720p display for a price tag of around 25k.

Also, Oppo A31 misses out on an ultrawide angle camera and has an old processor as well. So, Oppo A31 doesn’t seem impressive on paper.
