OnePlus Nord Available for Pre-Order in Nepal via Oliz Store

After all the hype and teases, OnePlus finally launched the much anticipated OnePlus Nord.

OnePlus Nord is a premium mid-range phone which is more affordable than OnePlus’s flagships. This is OnePlus going back to produce more affordable phone after moving on to premium flagships.

Earlier, the phone was available in India and Europe only. However, today OlizStore, one of the official resellers of OnePlus phones in Nepal, has listed OnePlus Nord for pre-order via its website.

Currently, only one variant of the phone, 8/128GB, is listed for pre-order. The OnePlus Nord price in Nepal is set at Rs. 53,999 (8/128GB). The phone is available in two colors, Blue Marble and Gray Onyx.

Enough of talking. Now, let’s see what this phone has to offer!

OnePlus Nord Overview

Design

OnePlus Nord sticks to OnePlus’s design with a vertical camera setup. This time, the camera setup is on the side rather than the middle. It retains premium build with a glass back protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

It has a glossy finish, unlike OnePlus 8′s satin finish. And, it also doesn’t come with an IP rating. Except for the new Blue Marble color, the Nord feels very familiar.

Upfront, OnePlus has gone for pill-shaped punch-hole housing dual cameras. This is the first time OnePlus has done this. And, it’s strikingly similar to Oppo Reno 3 Pro from the front including the in-display fingerprint scanner.

Display

OnePlus has cut some corners to make this phone affordable but it still has an AMOLED panel with a 90HZ refresh rate. It’s a 6.44 inches Fluid AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2400.

Hardware

OnePlus Nord comes with a Snapdragon 765G processor instead of the 8 series flagship processor.

Snapdragon 765G has Octa-core (1×2.4 GHz Kryo 475 Prime & 1×2.2 GHz Kryo 475 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 475 Silver) CPU, Adreno 620 GPU and has 5G support. This is the best Qualcomm has to offer except the flagship chipsets from 8 series.

There won’t be much performance difference in day to day normal use. But, you will find a difference while playing games. This doesn’t mean 765G is bad with heavy tasks like games. It will probably run all the heavy games at max settings quite comfortably.

OnePlus Nord is available in three memory configurations: 64GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 8GB RAM, and 256GB 12GB RAM. It is using LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage. In Nepal, OnePlus Nord is available only in 128GB 8GB RAM option.

Camera

OnePlus Nord has a quad-camera setup with a 48MP main sensor, 8MP ultrawide angle sensor, 2MP depth sensor, and 5MP depth sensor.

The main sensor is a 48MP IMX 586 sensor which is used on the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 7T.

On the front, it has a dual selfie camera with a 32MP IMX 616 main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide angle sensor.

Battery

OnePlus Nord has a 4115 mAh battery with Warp Charge 30T. The fast charging is supposed to provide a 70% battery in 30 mins.

It runs on OxygenOS 10 on top of Android 10. Moving on it doesn’t have a headphone jack though.

OnePlus Nord Price in Nepal and Availability

Currently, only one variant of the phone, 8/128GB, is listed for pre-order. The OnePlus Nord price in Nepal is set at Rs. 53,999 (8/128GB) and it is available in two colors, Blue Marble and Gray Onyx.

We have no clue whether or not the other, 12/256GB, variant will land in Nepal. I guess we will need to wait for a few more days to find it out.

The pricing of the phone is slightly on the expensive side. I believe they could have priced it better.

To be fair I am not liking the design of OnePlus Nord. It feels like every other phone and doesn’t offer anything unique.

Well, the Snapdragon 765G will be quite powerful and good enough for everyone. The 48MP IMX 586 sensor also makes sense. But they should have gone for a higher megapixel count ultrawide angle sensor instead of a mere 2MP macro sensor and 5MP depth sensor.
