OnePlus Nord CE6 Launched in Nepal: Price Hike Hits Hard

OnePlus has launched the OnePlus Nord CE6 in Nepal, adding another smartphone to its budget-oriented Core Edition series.

The CE series is meant to deliver core features of the OnePlus Nord series at a more affordable price point. But in 2026, the word “affordable” has become a little tricky to use when talking about smartphones.

And that’s exactly why the Nord CE 6 is interesting. While the phone moves up and down when it comes to upgrades, the price graph seems to be heading in only one direction: up.

That’s a significant price hike, and it takes away one of the biggest appeals of the Nord CE series: offering good features at a relatively affordable price. But that’s not the only problem with the CE6; it actually feels like a downgrade from the CE5.

So, let’s take a closer look at what changed with the Nord CE6 and how much of a hit it has taken with the 2026 price hike.

OnePlus Nord CE6 Overview

I’m really liking the direction OnePlus is taking with the Nord CE6’s design. It uses the same overall shell as the Nord 6, but with one fewer camera sensor in the module, which arguably gives it a cleaner look. It’s also a much more evolved design compared to the CE 5’s rather simple vertical camera module.

Durability has also improved significantly. The Nord CE6 now comes with an IP66/68/69/69K rating, compared to the IP65 rating on the CE5.

For the display, OnePlus is using its in-house “Crystal Guard” protection for the front glass. The phone has also been tested to meet military-grade durability standards, adding another layer of protection over its predecessor.

Despite these durability upgrades, the materials remain largely unchanged from the Nord CE5, with a plastic back and plastic frame.

The display panel seems to be identical to its bigger brother, the Nord 6. It features a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and 3600 nits peak brightness. And that’s a proper upgrade from the Nord CE5’s display.

Well, if you thought the upgrades were looking good, the chipset downgrade is here to hit you like a train.

The Nord CE6 is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, which is a clear downgrade from the Dimensity 8350 found on the Nord CE5. And it gets even more interesting when you look further back.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 sits in a similar performance territory to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 used in the Nord CE4. So, despite being a newer-generation phone, the Nord CE6 is essentially offering a performance level comparable to a two-year-old Nord CE model.

And the upgrade graph keeps going down, with OnePlus dropping the 8MP ultrawide camera in favour of a more basic auxiliary sensor.

The main camera remains a 50MP shooter, but OnePlus has also switched from the Sony LYT-600 sensor on the CE5 to an OmniVision sensor on the CE6. Another potential downgrade! The selfie camera, however, sees a jump from 16MP to 32MP.

The battery, on the other hand, gets a massive upgrade, jumping from 5,200mAh to 7,500mAh. Charging speed remains the same at 80W, but the CE6 now also supports 6.5W reverse wired charging.

The OnePlus Nord CE6 runs on OxygenOS 16 on top of Android 16. OnePlus has not officially mentioned the software support policy for this device yet. However, reports suggest that the CE6 is expected to receive only 2 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates. This means the CE5 will have longer software support, with 4+6 years of software support.

And when you put all the numbers together, it’s hard not to be disappointed by the Nord CE6.

Yes, there are some meaningful upgrades in terms of battery, durability, design, and display. But some things have taken a step back as well, especially the performance, the lack of an ultrawide camera, and the potentially shorter software support.

And then there’s the price, which has gone up significantly.

Overall, the Nord CE6 doesn’t offer the same value we’ve come to expect from the Nord CE series. The upgrades are there, but so are the compromises, and at Rs. 74,999, those compromises are much harder to overlook.
