Infinix Smart 8 with 4K Recording Camera Launched in Nepal

Infinix recently updated its Smart series of phones with the launch of the Smart 8 in Nepal. Below, we will be discussing about the specs, features and price of this budget smartphone.

The Infinix Smart 8 has a similar design to its siblings the Smart 8 Plus and the Smart 8 Pro while looking astonishingly similar to the Infinix Hot 40i. The phone offers a UNISOC T606 processor, a 5000mAh battery, a 90Hz IPS LCD display, and a 13MP main camera.

Infinix Smart 8 Overview

Design

The Infinix Smart 8 has a design language akin to other budget smartphones like the Hot 40i and the Tecno Spark 20, which is from Infinix’s sister company.

The display of the Smart 8 has a center-aligned punch-hole cutout for the camera.

The back panel and side rails of the Smart 8 are made of plastic with a finish akin to brushed metal. The fingerprint sensor and volume buttons are located on the right-hand side and the bottom houses the USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Display

The Infinix Smart 8 features a 6.6-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels. Infinix has implemented a software feature called the ‘Magic Ring’, which displays information around the camera cutout.

The display has a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz and can reach a peak brightness of 500 nits.

Hardware

The smartphone is powered by an octa-core UNISOC T606 processor. It includes two 1.6 GHz Cortex-A75 high-performance cores and six 1.6 GHz Cortex-A55 power-efficient cores. The graphics are handled by a Mali-G57 processor.

This is an entry-level chip that can handle simple tasks like web browsing and media consumption. For gaming, games like PUBG Mobile can run on low settings for a short period of time. This device, however, is not gaming-oriented and will throttle when playing heavy games or for long periods of time.

The Infinix Smart 8 comes with either 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. Alongside, the device offers either 64 GB or 128 GB of storage respectively, with a dedicated microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Camera

On the camera side, the device comes with a 13MP main camera and an auxiliary lens, that Infinix markets as an ‘AI lens’. The selfie camera is an 8MP shooter that is housed inside the punch-hole cutout on the display. The selfie camera has its own flash system as well.

The rear camera is placed inside a ‘squircle’ island alongside the ring flash. The entire layout gives the illusion of a triple-camera layout akin to the iPhone Pro series.

Infinix’s spec sheet states that the Smart 8’s rear camera is capable of recording up to 4K videos at 30 fps and the front camera is capable of recording 1080p videos up to 60fps.

Battery and OS

The device is houses a 5000mAh battery that supports 10W charging through the USB Type-C port.

The device runs on Android 13 out of the box with Infinix’s XOS 13 custom skin applied on top.

The Infinix Smart 8 price in Nepal is Rs. 11,499 (3/64GB) and Rs. 12,999 (4/128GB). You can purchase the device online or through retailers in Nepal.

The Infinix Smart 8 is an entry-level smartphone that delivers decent performance for its price. It comes with a large 6.6-inch 90Hz display, a UNISOC T606 processor, 3 or 4 GB of RAM, decent internal storage with microSD card support, and a Type-C port for charging.
