Coolpad Cool 10 Review
Design
- 165.7 x 76.5 x 9.1 mm, 202.8 g
- Hybrid Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by)
Coolpad Cool 10 has a cool design with a gradient finish on the rear. The back is actually made of glass which is very rare for a budget phone. On the rear, it houses a triple camera setup whereas the fingerprint sensor has been moved to the side of the phone.
The fingerprints do not show up easily on the glass back due to the color and the finish. Moving on to its plastic frame, the power button with red accent and volume buttons are on the right. On the left, it has a fingerprint sensor and a hybrid sim tray.
The design and build quality of the Cool 10 looks fine. It has a good grip and fits in the hand quite easily.
On the bottom, there’s a single speaker and a USB Type C port.
Display
- 6.52 inches HD+ IPS LCD
- 720 x 1600 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio
- 60Hz
Cool 10 has s a 6.52 inches HD+ IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels.
It’s a decent IPS panel for a budget phone with a neutral color profile. The saturation and contrast are not that great but it’s decent for YouTube videos and social media browsing.
While the viewing angle is decent, the panel is not bright enough for outdoor usage.

Performance
- Mediatek Helio P60
- Octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A53)
- Mali-G72 MP3
- 64GB 4GB RAM
Coolpad is using a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset on the Cool 10 along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
MediaTek Helio P60 is a 12nm chipset. It has an Octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. This chipset is an old chipset that was used on phones like Oppo F9.
The Helio P60 paired with 4GB RAM does fine while browsing through apps and switching between them. Though I did not face major stutters or lags, the animations are not the smoothest on a budget phone.
I played COD Mobile on the Cool 10. The game runs decent on High graphics and High fps settings. But you do no get an option for a very high or max fps setting.
The story is the same with the PUBG Mobile as you don’t get the Extreme fps option on the Smooth graphics setting. The gameplay is fine on High graphics and High fps setting. Frame rate is also more or less consistent with occasional frame drops. I have to say that it is a good budget phone interms of gaming performance.

Camera
- Rear Camera: 16MP
- 0.3 MP
- 0.3 MP
- Video: 1080p@30fps
- Front Camera: 8 MP, f/2.2, 1.12µm
- Video: 1080p@30fps
Cool 10 has 3 cameras on the back as the main 16MP sensor is accompanied by two 0.3MP sensors. On the front, there’s an 8MP camera for selfies.
NORMAL PHOTOS
The main camera sensor has autofocus but the autofocus is slow as it takes time to fully focus the subject. The detail is not great even in daylight but the color is decent with a neutral color profile.
The main sensor also struggles in high dynamic range situations as the exposure looks totally off sometimes. If the lighting is perfect then you will get some decent results but the camera performance of the Cool 10 is not good.
Similarly, you don’t get good photos in low light. The details are not up to par and you can easily notice the noise. Furthermore, you do not get night mode to improve the night photos.
PORTRAIT AND MACRO PHOTOS
So, Cool 10 has a 0.3MP depth sensor for portrait photos but the results are shocking. The subject separation is totally off and the background blur is all over the place. I did not manage to take a single decent portrait shot with the Cool 10. This could either be a software issue or an issue with the review unit. But, the portrait mode was very disappointing.
I also noticed that the portrait photos are just under 400KB and uses half the resolution of the normal photos. They have mentioned that the 2nd lens is a macro lens but there’s no macro mode in the camera menu.
FRONT CAMERA
I did not have a good time with the front camera either. The details are not that good but it does okay if the lighting is good. The pictures look flat and it will be washed out if there’s plenty of light in the background.
You do not get portrait mode on the front camera.
Video
Cool 10 can capture videos up to 1080p 30fps. The video quality is not good even for a budget phone. The videos look underexposed and the dynamic range is very limited. Likewise, you don’t get good stabilization on the Cool 10.
Battery
- Non-removable Li-Po 5000mAh battery
- 10W charging
Coolpad Cool 10 has a 5000mAh battery which provides more than a day of usage. On average, I was getting about 6-7 hours of screen on time.
As for charging, the 10W charging takes about 2 hours 40 mins to charge it from 0 to 100.
Security and Speaker
The fingerprint sensor is on the left side which is very uncomfortable to use for a right-handed person. But it is fast and consistent.
Cool 10’s single speaker on the bottom is pretty shabby. The max volume is low and the clarity is also not up to PAR with top budget phones.

Software
Coolpad Cool 10 runs on stock Android 10 with slight tweaks.
Coolpad has not named its UI but it is pretty simple and doesn’t have many options if you’re looking for customizations. It does not even have an app drawer. It has launcher settings that will let you enable gesture options such as swipe up, swipe down to open a specific app. Additionally, you also get a dark theme.
The icons are limited and they look cartoonish but the settings menu is simple and easy to use.
Overall, the UI experience on the Cool 10 is very limited.
Conclusion
Coolpad Cool 10 is a good-looking budget phone with a premium glass gradient rear. However, the position of the fingerprint sensor is very weird.
Interms of performance, it performs really well while playing games. But the camera quality of this phone is questionable. I would not recommend the Cool 10 if you need a decent camera. The battery is more than good enough and UI is simple but limited.
So, Cool 10 is a good-looking phone with good performance but its camera performance is concerning. On top of that, its UI is very boring.
