HIGHLIGHTS
- BYD Sealion 7 price in Nepal is Rs. 77.99 Lakhs.
- Sealion 7 serves as the flagship SUV for BYD Nepal.
- It comes in a single variant with RWD configuration with a massive 71.80 kWh Blade Battery pack.
If you are spotting the BYD Sealion 7 more frequently on the road, that is no coincidence. The SUV is just selling well. Its aggressive introductory price of Rs. 73 lakh played a big role in building that early momentum. However, that was an early-bird phase, and the actual MRP was 75 Lakhs. But now, the new MRP has again moved up by 3 Lakhs.

Cimex, the authorized distributor of BYD vehicles in Nepal, now offers seven models across five categories: the Atto 1 (sub-compact hatchback), the Dolphin (Hatchback), Seal (Sedan), M6 (multi-purpose vehicles), and Atto 2 (B-segment SUV), Atto 3 (C-segment SUV), and the Sealion 7 itself (mid-size SUV). BYD Sealion 7 is the latest flagship SUV for BYD Nepal.
BYD’s dominance in Nepal’s EV market largely stems from the success of the Atto 3, which quickly became the country’s best-selling SUV. As one of the key brands shaping the nation’s shift toward electric mobility, BYD has continuously demonstrated its influence, but the competition is intensifying, and even BYD can’t afford to be complacent.
To stay ahead, Cimex has basically launched BYD’s entire catalogue in Nepal, launching the new Dolphin model, then the Sealion 7, Atto 1 & Atto 2 in a single year.
What is the Price of BYD Sealion 7 in Nepal?
The BYD Sealion 7 price in Nepal is Rs. 77.99 Lakhs. The price revision marks a clear Rs. 3 lakh jump from the earlier MRP of Rs. 74.99 lakh. Officially, BYD Nepal says this is due to the volatility of the dollar currency. And that is a believable defense since the value of the dollar has seen some unprecedented growth in recent times.
That said, the Sealion 7 is readily available for purchase across BYD showrooms, and the Sealion 7 carries one of the most comprehensive warranty packages in the segment, with 10 years or 200,000 km on the Blade Battery, 10 years or 187,500 km on the electric motor, and 7 years or 150,000 km on the vehicle itself.
Looking at the bigger picture, the Atto 3 defined Nepal’s compact C-segment EV space, the Atto 2 disrupted the B-segment, and now the Sealion 7 raises expectations in the mid-size e-SUV category. Calling it a trifecta may sound generous, but it is hard to argue otherwise.

BYD Sealion 7 Overview
Exterior
The BYD Sealion 7, part of BYD’s Ocean series, embraces the brand’s signature “Ocean Aesthetic” and is built on the advanced e-platform 3.0.

At the front, it radiates a striking resemblance to the BYD Seal, highlighted by a distinctive double U-shaped lighting setup. The design also features numerous sharp cut lines and two prominent raised ribs on the bonnet, adding to its mean-looking character.
The side profile of the Sealion 7 is said to draw inspiration from the flowing waves of the ocean. Unlike the Seal sedan, this SUV features a coupe-like sloping roofline that flows into a subtly bulged rear section. So, there won’t be any problem distinguishing it from the Atto 3.
While the design leans toward a coupe, there’s also a noticeable hint of fastback styling. The Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) variant under discussion rides on striking 19-inch alloy wheels.

At the rear, a sleek full-width LED taillight extends slightly onto the sides. The car looks particularly good from the rear due to its sharp cuts and contours, and the bulging rear tells a lot about the aerodynamic capabilities of the car.
Additionally, the BYD Sealion 7 is available in Shark Grey, Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, and Cosmos Black color options.

Interior
The Sealion 7 may look aggressive and intimidating from the outside, but on the inside, it is a completely different story. It carries forward BYD’s familiar interior design language, yet it feels far more premium and refined compared to the Atto 3. The premium feel is expected, given that Sealion 7 belongs to a higher segment.
However, what truly stands out is the level of maturity in its cabin layout. It is a significant improvement over the Atto 3’s interior, which felt overly busy and could certainly have benefited from a more streamlined design.
Inside, the cabin is quite luxurious, thanks to the use of high-quality Leatherette Upholstery throughout. The driver enjoys an 8-way Electrically Adjustable Seat with 4-way Lumbar Support and Memory Function, while the front passenger seat comes with 6-way Power Adjustability. Both front seats offer built-in Ventilation and Heating, while the rear seats are equipped with heating functionality only.

A large 15.6-inch Floating Central Touchscreen, a signature element of BYD interiors, makes an appearance here, now larger than in previous models. The four-spoke steering wheel comes with a heating function as well and sits in front of a crisp 10.25-inch Digital Instrument Cluster.

Above, the Panoramic Glass Roof floods the cabin with natural light, while the integrated electric sunshade provides shade when needed. And, the in-car audio system features 12 high-quality speakers.
Performance
BYD Sealion 7 will come in Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) for Nepal, which is powered by a 100 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that generates a max power of 135 PS and a max torque of 380 Nm.
It is supported by a 71.8 kWh Blade Battery pack that can power the car for 520 km of range as per the NEDC test. Furthermore, it can be charged from 0 to 100% in around 13 hours with a 7 kW AC Charger.

However, with Nepal’s current maximum DC fast charging limit capped at 60 kW, reaching the same state of charge will take approximately 40 minutes. It also supports 150 kW of DC Fast Charging that can charge it from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes.
There’s a subtle but significant change under the hood. BYD Nepal has electronically limited the motor on the Sealion 7 from 230kW to 100kW. How do we know it’s a soft cap and not a hardware downgrade? Because the torque output remains unchanged at 380Nm from the international model, suggesting that only the power has been restricted. Alongside this, battery capacity drops from 82.56 kWh to 71.8 kWh. Yet despite both the motor and battery being dialed back, range takes only a minor hit, from 482 km to 440 km (WLTP).
We have previously encountered this motor and battery configuration in the BYD M6. While the M6 features a Front-Wheel-Drive setup, the Sealion 7 is equipped with a Rear-Wheel-Drive layout. This isn’t new for BYD Nepal, as they previously detuned the Atto 3 when EV taxes increased for motors above 100kW. We think the Sealion 7’s specs suggest a similar preemptive move, either anticipating future tax changes that didn’t materialize or simply keeping prices competitive.
However, according to BYD Nepal, this configuration of BYD Sealion 7 is unique to the market like Singapore, Sri-Lanka, and Nepal, based on R&D conducted by BYD China. This is done to create a model that is a better fit for the Nepali market. If the same international spec version were to launch, it would share its price with the BYD Seal.
Still, the Sealion 7 now competes with full-fat rivals like the Zeekr X (200kW), Xpeng G6 (190kW), and Deepal S07 (160kW). On paper, it’s outgunned. But BYD plays a different game, especially with a bigger battery, trademarked Blade tech, and aggressive pricing. It’s a strange balance, but surprisingly, it works.

BYD Sealion 7 Price in Nepal and Availability
The BYD Sealion 7 price in Nepal is now Rs. 77,99,000 for the only available variant.
Earlier, the Sealion 7 sat at an MRP of Rs. 74.99 Lakhs. Before that, BYD sweetened the deal with an early-bird offer that brought the price down to Rs. 73 Lakhs. That lower figure, however, was applied only for a short window and for a limited number of units. From today’s perspective, with the Nepalese currency becoming weaker against the dollar, the rise in the pricing is justified.

Rivals
Now coming to the competition, the BYD Sealion 7 faces stiff competition from MG’s IM6. From a market positioning standpoint, both MG and BYD clearly target a similar buyer profile with the IM6 and the Sealion 7. It is also worth clarifying an important point upfront that neither the MG IM6 nor the BYD Sealion 7 sold in Nepal arrives with full international specifications.
The compromises go beyond feature deletions and extend into motor outputs and battery configurations. Even so, both brands deserve credit for making the effort to localize and introduce globally relevant EVs into the Nepali market.
As compared to Sealion 7, the IM6 does present strong value on paper. At this price point, it offers impressive performance figures, a respectable driving range, and a generous feature list. That said, long-term ownership confidence will depend heavily on how effectively MG supports the IM6 through its after-sales network in Nepal.
On pure numbers, the IM6 slightly outguns the Sealion 7 in several areas. It packs a more powerful motor at 109 kW compared to the Sealion 7’s 100 kW, and also gets a marginally larger 75 kWh LFP battery versus 71.8 kWh and claims a longer WLTP range of 450 km against 440 km.
The IM6 continues to stretch its lead in a few practical and visual areas. It rides on larger 20-inch wheels, offers a significantly bigger boot at 665 liters, and features a more dramatic 26.3-inch infotainment display. In contrast, the Sealion 7 runs 19-inch wheels, provides 500 liters of cargo space, and uses a 15.6-inch central screen.
And despite all of this, IM6 comes 3 Lakhs more affordable than the Sealion 7. But where the Sealion 7 firmly pushes back is on trust and brand confidence. It enters the market with a 5-Star Euro NCAP safety rating from day one, while the IM6’s crash rating is still pending. More importantly, BYD benefits from a well-established footprint in Nepal. As a flagship offering from the world’s leading EV manufacturer, the Sealion 7 carries a level of assurance that many buyers value highly.
