OPPO A6k Arrives in Nepal: Another A6 Phone, Another Familiar Package

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The OPPO A6k price in Nepal starts at Rs. 38,999 (6/128GB).
  • The phone runs on the Snapdragon 685 chipset and has a 50MP main camera.
  • It features a 6,500mAh battery that charges with 15W wired charging.

OPPO started the A6 series with the OPPO A6 Pro. Fast forward more than a year, and the A6 series now features more than 10 phones. Even in Nepal, there are currently 5 of them, and now it’s 6 with the launch of the new OPPO A6k.

That raises an important question: where does this phone sit in the OPPO A6 lineup? It’s already confusing with 5 phones in the lineup, and the constant price changes aren’t helping either. So where does the A6k fall? Let’s start with the price.

Taking a stroll down memory lane, the OPPO A5 series had just four models, three of which launched in Nepal. For the A6, we seem to be getting a new model every other month. There’s the A6c, A6x, A6, A6 Pro, and the A6s Pro.

It would have been fine if OPPO had done something different with it, like a different design or better pricing. But most OPPO A6 phones run identical dimensions with some tweaked internals, and they all share one thing: poor value for money. Let’s see if the A6k is any different.

OPPO A6k Overview

The OPPO A6k follows the exact same dimensions as the OPPO A6x and the A6. The only difference is that the A6k features a pill-shaped camera module, much like the A6x, unlike the A6, which has a square one.

However, the camera and flashlight alignment on all three phones is exactly the same.

That said, the A6k’s crystal-like color pattern is definitely unique. The two color variants carry it too, and they’re called Crystal Violet and Crystal Blue.

The build quality is basic, as expected. It’s completely plastic, and it’s only IP64 rated. For comparison, the A6x has the same rating, while the A6 is IP69 rated. I guess that’s one reason the A6 costs more than the A6k.

Being identical in dimensions, it’s no surprise that the display matches the A6x and A6 as well. It’s a 6.75-inch IPS LCD panel with an HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. There’s also no mention of any display protection, which is a bummer, since the Moto G57 Power, which costs less, comes with Gorilla Glass 7i protection, a Full HD+ display, and did I mention that it runs a SD 6s Gen 4 chipset? That’s a 5G chip, so a major upgrade from the A6k’s 4G Snapdragon 685 SoC.

Memory-wise, it’s paired with 6GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. If you’re looking for something cheaper, the A6x offers the same memory specs with the same SoC. So the A6x is clearly the better value of the two.

The camera is where the A6k differs from the other two. It shares the 50MP main camera and the monochrome lens from the OPPO A6, while the 5MP front camera is from the OPPO A6x. It’s not a great setup at all. You’re not even getting an ultrawide lens, and ultrawides are getting more and more common, so missing one is hard to excuse at this price.

The battery is another area where the A6k matches the A6x. It features a 6,500mAh unit paired with only 15W charging, though there is reverse wired charging on board.

And even in 2026, the phone boots on Android 15 with ColorOS 15, which is now two generations behind.

There’s nothing here that makes the A6k stand out. The crystal color pattern is sharp and definitely looks unique, but that’s about the only thing going for it. Everything else is something we’ve already seen on the A6x or the A6.

And that’s the problem. The A6x offers the same chip and memory for less, while the A6 gives you better protection and a more complete package. Even the Moto G57 Power costs less and brings better display protection.

So unless you’re specifically drawn to that crystal design, I can’t think of a reason to pick the A6k.
