The Tecno Spark series has consistently been one of Tecno’s more reliable lineups over the years. The Spark series has been available in Nepal since 2020, beginning with the Tecno Spark 5 Pro. Six years later, Tecno continues the lineup with the latest Spark 50.

It has been a month since the Spark 50 debuted in Nepal, and honestly, I was not fully convinced by it at launch either. The pricing felt a little off for what was on offer, and I said as much. Now, Tecno is taking another shot with a new 4GB variant, bringing the price down to a more reasonable level. So has my opinion changed? Let’s find out.
What is the Price of Tecno Spark 50 in Nepal?
The Tecno Spark 50 launched in Nepal at Rs. 26,999 for the sole 6/128GB variant. The new 4/128GB variant now brings the entry price down to Rs. 24,999, a Rs. 2,000 saving for those who can live with 4GB of RAM.
It looks like Tecno is trying to capture a wider audience in the budget segment, and with a lower entry price now in play, that strategy makes sense. Perhaps an 8/128GB variant may follow down the line as well, but who knows.
The Tecno Spark 50 comes in as a direct successor to the Tecno Spark 40, which debuted in Nepal in early 2026.
The Spark 40 had a massive six-month delay coming to Nepal, which really was a bummer, because it was one of the rare phones with 45W fast charging for under Rs. 20,000. Had it been launched alongside its global release in mid-2025, it could have made a strong impact before smartphone prices began rising sharply.
Looks like Tecno Nepal has learned its lesson and brought the Spark 50 to Nepal within a month of the global launch. Still, the timing may not be ideal, since smartphone prices are not dropping anytime soon, and the competition is tougher than ever.
Tecno Spark 50 Overview

Last time, the Spark 40 had that “copy the iPhone design but don’t make it obvious” thing going for it. But this time with the Spark 50, Tecno seems to have thrown that out the window and gone full iPhone. The camera and flash placement, the rectangular plateau, it all looks more iPhone than ever. But that is not entirely bad, as it gives the phone a surprisingly premium look.

That said, it is a budget phone, so the build is entirely plastic. The front does have a slight chin at the bottom, which is hard to avoid on cheaper phones. But honestly, the punch-hole notch is a nice touch and makes the display feel more modern. The phone also carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance and has been drop-tested up to 1.8 meters, impressive for a budget device.
Spec-wise, the display is mid. The screen size has grown by 0.11 inches compared to the Spark 40, now sitting at 6.78 inches. It is still an IPS panel, and the resolution stays at HD+, meaning slightly fewer pixels per inch. You may not notice it right away, but on a pixel level, it will be a touch blurry. At least the 120Hz refresh rate keeps things smooth.

While the display might be a little soft, the dual stereo speakers with DTS Sound should help take your attention away from it with a more immersive audio experience.
On the performance side, the Spark 50 runs the MediaTek Helio G81, the same chip as the Spark 40, no surprises there. It comes with 4GB or 6GB RAM paired with either 128GB of storage. It also supports a microSD card slot, though the maximum supported capacity has not been officially mentioned.

Shifting to the camera, it might look like there are three cameras from the design, but in reality, there is just one 50MP main shooter. Tecno has branded it as a FlashSnap camera, which means it is optimized for capturing fast-moving subjects. But given that it is a budget device, I would not have my hopes up high. There’s also an 8MP selfie shooter, and both cameras can record up to 2K footage at 30fps.
The Spark 50 also introduces Live Photo, a feature that records the moments before and after your shot, capturing image, motion, and sound together, similar to what you get on an iPhone. It is a fun addition and fits well with the overall iPhone-inspired direction Tecno has taken this year.

Now here’s where things get really impressive: the battery. The Spark 50 packs a massive 7,000mAh battery, a huge upgrade over the 5,200mAh on the Spark 40. However, Tecno did a complete 180 by removing the 45W fast charging from the Spark 40 and replacing it with 18W. So yeah, charging it all the way up is going to take forever.
The Spark 50 also features FreeLink 2.0, which enables free voice calls, texts, and image sharing at distances of up to 1.5km without any cellular network. It even comes with a dedicated SA1 signal-boosting chip that technically improves communication distance by 30% in weak signal environments.
Lastly, the Spark 50 ships with Android 16 with HiOS 16 skin on top, keeping things up to date on the software front.

The Tecno Spark 50 offers a meaningful upgrade, especially in the areas that matter most to its audience. The 7,000mAh battery easily becomes one of the phone’s biggest selling points. With the introduction of the 4/128GB variant at Rs. 24,999, the phone is now more accessible than ever.
The challenge, however, is the competition. The Moto G06 Power already offers a very similar overall package at a lower price, minus the storage, making the Spark 50 a tougher sell. Besides, if memory and multitasking are your priority, the Infinix Hot 60 Pro steps things up further with an 8/128GB configuration.
With strong alternatives on both sides, one focusing on affordability and the other on better memory, the Spark 50 still finds itself in an awkward middle ground. The new variant helps, but it does not fully solve the problem.
If Tecno had launched the 4GB variant from the start, it would have given the phone a slightly better price-to-performance, and buyers, or smartphone reviewers like me, would not have been so quick to dismiss it. But better late than never. Hopefully, the new variant gives the Spark 50 a second chance at finding its audience.
