Yamaha Aerox 155 Maxi-Sports Scooter Officially Launched in Nepal

Yamaha Aerox 155 has finally mades its entry in Nepal.

MAW Enterprises, the authorized distributor of Yamaha two-wheelers in Nepal, has officially launched the highly-popular Yamaha Aerox 155.

Yamaha Aerox 155 is the latest Yamaha maxi-scooter for the Nepali market.

The company previously introduced Yamaha NMax 155. However, it failed to live up to its full potential.

With the new Yamaha Aerox, Yamaha Nepal aims to jump-start the maxi-scooter segment. It shares the iconic Yamaha R15 engine, sporting a more aggressive and muscular style.

Yamaha Nepal had previously planned to introduce the new Aerox at the NADA Auto Show 2022. Since the event got canceled, so did the launch.

Fortunately, things have turned out for the better! Aerox 155 is finally here in Nepal.

Yamaha Aerox 155 Overview

Design

Yamaha Aerox 155 is a maxi-scooter.

It is built on a “Heart-Shaking Speedster” design concept. Moreover, it sports a large body size with athletic proportions and an X-center motif.

That stylistic approach can be found everywhere.

The front section comes with a LED Headlight and LED DRLs. Moreover, the side indicator has been integrated into the body.

While the rear section also gets a compact LED tail lamp, the rear side indicators are protruded.

Other interesting elements include a two-level seat, a front pocket with a power socket, and a multi-function key switch.

Furthermore, it sports an external fuel lid at the front and an integrated grab rail at the rear.

Yamaha Aerox is available in three colors: Blue, Grey Vermillion, and MotoGP Edition.

Performance

Yamaha Aerox is powered by a 155cc, Single-Cylinder, 4-stroke, 4-valve, Liquid-Cooled, SOHC engine. It can generate a max power of 15PS at 8000rpm and a max torque of 13.9Nm at 6500rpm.

Moreover, it is mated to a V-belt automatic transmission with a 5.5-liter fuel tank capacity.

The engine has been carried over from the Yamaha R15. So, it will be the most powerful scooter in its segment!

Additionally, it features Variable Valve Actuation technology (VVA) and a Single-Channel ABS.

However, there has been a slight performance loss when shifting to CVT transmission.

Aerox produces 3.4PS less power and 0.3Nm less torque than the outgoing R15 v4. And, it does not get rear Disc braking which is an obvious cost-cutting.

Additional Details

The suspension duties are handled by a Telescopic fork at the front and a Unit Swing at the rear.

The dimensions are 1980mm in length, 700mm in width, and 1150mm in height. Moreover, the wheelbase sits at 1350mm.

Yamaha Aerox 155 comes with a 145mm ground clearance. And, the kerb weight is 126kg.

Surprisingly, it sports a massive 24.5-liter massive under-seat storage.

Aprilia SXR 160 currently retails for Rs. 4.60 Lakhs. However, it possesses a more awkward styling, which might have contributed to its lack of popularity in the Nepali market.

In sharp contrast, the Yamaha Aerox is different.

It is sportier styling, eye-catching graphics, and patented VVA technology. Calculating these up, the Aerox does have a better hand.

Aerox may be a bit expensive compared to other maxi-scooters in Nepal, but worth the extra bucks.
