vivo Nepal has just added a new budget device to its Y-series lineup, the vivo Y400.

Now, while the X and V series from vivo usually get things right, the Y series has often struggled to deliver that same level of value. So the big question is: can the Y400 finally change that?
What is the price of the vivo Y400 in Nepal?
The vivo Y400 price in Nepal is Rs. 36,999 (8/256GB). The phone is now available for purchase in authorized retail and online stores.
From the looks of it, vivo seems to be treating the Y-series like the neglected second child. Only the true entry-level models in this lineup can be argued as good buys.
Once you move even slightly above the basic budget segment, the value quickly falls apart, mainly because of the underwhelming processors vivo keeps using in these phones.
So now the question is: is the vivo Y400 any different? Let’s find out.
vivo Y400 Overview
The Y400 looks almost identical to the Vivo V50 Lite, right down to the camera layout. It even carries the same Aura Light ring accompanied by dual LED flashes on each side.
Interestingly, the phone comes with an IP68/69 rating, which is quite impressive considering it uses a plastic back and frame.

On the front, you get a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. Personally, this feels like the ideal resolution and size combo for everyday use. vivo advertises it as a bezel-less 120Hz panel, though that’s only half true. The bezels are definitely present, but to vivo’s credit, the side bezels are noticeably thinner than the top and bottom.
Under the hood, the Snapdragon 685 makes yet another return. It seems vivo is determined to squeeze every last drop from this chipset, especially since we’ve seen it on multiple devices like the V30 Lite, V40 Lite, V50 Lite, and the Y29.

The phone ships with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Unfortunately, despite being a budget device, it skips out on a microSD card slot, which is disappointing.

The camera setup is also pretty barebones: a 50MP main shooter paired with a 2MP depth lens. Up front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera. At this price point, vivo could really have justified adding an ultrawide lens.
On the brighter side, the battery endurance should be solid thanks to a 6,000mAh cell, along with 44W fast charging. And finally, the phone runs on Android 15 with Funtouch OS 15 on top.
As for software support, vivo hasn’t mentioned anything officially. But realistically, getting at least 2 to 3 years of OS upgrades would be the ideal scenario, and I’d be more than happy if vivo actually provides that.

As I mentioned, the Y-series from vivo has rarely managed to hit the mark when it comes to delivering a well-rounded smartphone, and unfortunately, the vivo Y400 falls into that same pattern.
Even though it doesn’t quite reach the Rs. 40,000 price bracket, the overall specs still feel underwhelming. Yes, the battery life and the IP68/69 rating are definitely positives. But a weak camera setup and a slow processor really hold the phone back from being competitive.
At this price range, the Infinix GT 30 offers significantly better value for money, especially in terms of raw performance. And if you’re looking for a more balanced all-rounder, the CMF Phone 2 Pro stands out as a much better option.
