Samsung is busy launching its smartphones back to back since the start of the year 2022. The South Korean company has now launched the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G, a new addition to its M series smartphones, in India.
The launch in India hints that the phone will soon launch in Nepal as well. The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is the successor to last year’s well-reviewed Samsung Galaxy M52 5G.
Looking at the specs of the M53, the device does not appear to be a significant upgrade over its predecessor. In fact, it appears to be a downgrade in many areas.

Samsung Galaxy M53 5G Overview
The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G looks the same on the front as its predecessor, with a similarly sized punch-hole cutout and bezels. Similarly, the power — which also doubles as a fingerprint sensor — and volume buttons are on the right side.
The back has a major design change, where we see a square camera module — similar to the Galaxy M33 — instead of a rectangular one. The square camera bump’s edge blends with the body of the device and the flash is also outside the camera island this time.
The back is still made of plastic, but it lacks the pattern. And, like the predecessor, it also lacks a headphone jack.
A 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display is given on the Galaxy M53. It’s a Full HD+ panel that can refresh at 120Hz.
The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The Infinity-O display looks modern with its minimal side bezels and a punch-hole cutout.
Powering the Galaxy M53 5G is a MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC. The chipset has a quad-core ARM Cortex-A78 CPU core running at 2.4GHz, a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 CPU core ticking at 2.0GHz, and a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. The smartphone uses a vapour chamber for cooling the SoC.
While the Dimensity 900 is a capable chipset, it cannot be considered an upgrade over the Snapdragon 778G found in the Galaxy M52 and recently launched Galaxy A73 5G. Although both feature ARM Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 CPU cores and are manufactured on TSMC’s 6nm node, the 778G features four high-performance Cortex-A78 cores, whereas the Dimensity 900 features only two. Also the Snapdragon 778G’s Adreno 642L GPU is more powerful.
The device comes with 6/8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Users can expand the storage via a microSD card. Additionally, the phone supports 5G.
The Galaxy M53 includes a 108-megapixel main camera, up from 64MP. The ultra-wide-angle and macro cameras, on the other hand, have been dropped to 8MP and 2MP, respectively, from 12MP and 5MP.
There is also a 2MP depth camera sensor, making a return. The front has the same 32MP selfie camera. The phone can shoot video at up to 4K at 30FPS.
Battery and OS
A 5000mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 25W fast charging. However, Samsung probably will only include a 15W charger in the box.
Furthermore, the smartphone boots on the latest Android 12 topped with One UI 4.1.
Samsung Galaxy M53 5G Price in Nepal and Availability

Samsung’s Galaxy M53 5G is the follow-up to last year’s awesome Samsung Galaxy M52 5G. But sadly, the M53 does not offer any significant upgrades over its predecessor. The Dimensity 900 processor is not as powerful as the Snapdragon 778G.
The main camera is now 108MP, but the ultra-wide-angle camera and the macro camera get a lower-resolution sensor. The depth camera sensor also makes a return, which no one asked for.
