Samsung has been launching lots of budget phones in the market. Earlier, it was the Samsung M32 and recently they also launched the Samsung F22.
Samsung F22 price in Nepal is Rs. 20,499 (4/64GB) and Rs. 23,999 (6/128GB). It looks very similar to the M32 and is one of the few budget phones to provide a 90Hz display.
So, is the Samsung Galaxy F22 worth it? Find out in my review of the Samsung F22.

Samsung F22 Review
Familiar Design
- 160 x 74 x 9 mm
- 196 g
- Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by)
Samsung F22 has the same design as the M22 with a matte finish on the rear.
The rear panel feels better than that of the M32 and it is less prone to catch smduges and scratches.
The button placement is the same too. The fingerprint sensor is side-mounted and does the job quite well. On the bottom, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type C port, and a speaker. The sound quality from the single speaker is pretty average.

Upfront, it has the same infinity-u notch.
HD+ 90Hz AMOLED Display
- 6.4-inches Super AMOLED
- 720 x 1600 pixels
- 90Hz
- Gorilla Glass 5
Samsung F22 gets a 6.4 inches 90Hz Super AMOLED panel but it is only an HD+ panel.
For an HD panel, the screen quality is good with vibrant color and good brightness. The multimedia experience on the F22 was better than I expected.
The high refresh rate smoothness is not as good as high end phones.
The panel stays at 90Hz all the time when set to high refresh rate mode, even while watching videos. It drops down to 60Hz in the camera app and while playing games. However, the smoothness of its screen felt better than the M32’s 1080p screen.
Samsung’s New Favourite Chipset
- Mediatek Helio G80 (12 nm)
- Octa-core (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55)
- Mali-G52 MC2 GPU
- 64GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 6GB RAM
Powering the Samsung Galaxy M32 is the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset. We can see the same chipset on the Samsung M32.
It hasn’t had a single hiccup while using multiple apps or switching between them. The phone feels smooth and slick but it doesn’t have the best gaming performance.
It can definitely play games but you will be limited to medium to low graphic and low frame rate options. I tested COD mobile on medium graphics and it did perform quite well. However, you should opt for some other phones if you want a better gaming performance.
Avearge Cameras
- Rear Camera: 48 MP, f/1.8, (wide), PDAF
- 8 MP, f/2.2, 123˚, (ultrawide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm
- 2 MP, f/2.2, (macro)
- 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth)
- Video: 1080p@30fps
- Front Camera: 13 MP, f/2.2, (wide), 1/3.1″, 1.12µm
- Video: 1080p@30fps
Samsung has employed a quad-camera setup on the rear. It gets a 48MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor.
The only change from M32 is the 48MP main sensor and the 13MP front camera. Except that, the camera sensors look exactly the same.
48MP MAIN SENSOR
The 48MP sensor is capable of producing good detail in a well-lit environment with a decent dynamic range. The noise is also on the lower side but the colors look a bit oversaturated.
ULTRAWIDE, MACRO, SELFIE
Likewise, the 8MP ultrawide angle camera also produces oversaturated images. The detail level is average but the distortion correction is pretty good.
Also, you can notice noise even in daylight situations.
The 2MP macro sensor is good enough regarding its price.

On to the front camera, M22 can capture really good selfies with good details and good exposure. The face tone is good and the dynamic is also fine.
PORTRAIT
The portrait images are not impressive on the F22. The subject may appear soft sometimes and the background may get blown out in high dynamic range situations.
LOW LIGHT IMAGES
Low light images take a massive hit in terms of detail but it is quite natural for a phone at this price tag.
The photos captured at night time lack details and they may appear blur sometimes. The included night mode helps in exposure but the improvement is negligible.
VIDEO
Likewise, F22 can only capture up to 1080 30fps. The stabilization and level of detail are decent for the price. But, the color reproduction is a bit too oversaturated
Monstrous Battery with Fast Charging
- Non-removable Li-Po 6000mAh battery
- Fast charging 15W
- Reverse charging
Just like the Samsung Galaxy M32, it has a massive 6000mAh battery along with 25W fast charging support. Though it has a 25W Fast Charging support, it only comes with a 15W charger in the box.
So far, the battery has been good. I was easily able to use it for 1 and a half days under moderate usage. I mostly need to charge it in 2 days
Software
- Android 11
- One UI 3.1
F22 runs on One UI 3.1 on top of Android 11.
The experience is the same as the M32. Everything is polished and I did not notice any bugs in the software. A good software experience is one of the key strengths of Samsung nowadays. To top it off, it will also get 3 years of Android OS upgrades.
Final Thoughts
So, Samsung Galaxy F22 is a decent budget phone with a high refresh rate AMOLED panel.

An HD+ panel on its entry-level variant does not feel too bad. On top of that, the 90Hz smoothness really adds to the smooth experience. Also, it is pretty decent in terms of performance. Yes, it won’t be running games at high settings and high fps. But it can easily play any of the modern games.
So, if you want a phone with a 90Hz refresh rate with average performance and decent cameras, then F22 can be a good choice.
