Samsung Nepal announced the local launch right after the global reveal. These earbuds are a wallet-friendly option coming straight from the makers of Galaxy smartphones.

Firstly, is Samsung out of words to name their products? They are just reusing words for branding. First, we had the super-thin Galaxy S25 Edge, which was reminiscent of the then-cutting-edge Galaxy Note Edge.

And now we have Buds Core. But doesn’t that sound a little too similar to the Samsung Galaxy Core? And all other cores that followed suit?

But this one does make sense, I guess. Unlike the S25 Edge, Samsung previously used the “Core” branding to signify a trimmed-down version. And the Galaxy Buds Core is exactly that.

It slots just below the Buds FE in Samsung’s lineup. And honestly? On paper, the difference between the Buds Core and Buds FE isn’t all that dramatic, which raises the question: is the Core version a better value?

From the spec sheet alone, it seems Buds Core is all about bringing that premium Galaxy experience to a wider audience by trimming down some specs and, most importantly, the price.

Let’s dive into the specs and see what Samsung is offering here with the Galaxy Buds Core.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Core Overview

Design

The Galaxy Buds Core keeps the iconic Galaxy Buds design DNA. After opting for the standard and more popular stemmed design with the Buds3 and 3 Pro, we all thought the cute jellybean-esque look was done for. But, apparently not! And I am all for it!

Samsung also propped up its buds with the wing-tip design that it quickly abandoned after the OG Galaxy Buds. The tipped design made a comeback with the FE variant and helps keep earbuds snug in your ears.

The case looks standard with a squircle shape. Open it up and you’ll spot a battery indicator light nestled right between the earbuds. The touch-sensitive controls are nicely indented. Samsung also includes multiple sizes of wing tips and ear tips in the box.

And here’s a welcome upgrade: the Buds Core are rated IP54 for water and dust resistance—a step up from the IPX2 rating on the Buds FE. The buds come in two colorways: Black and White.

Features

One of the most impressive things about the Galaxy Buds FE was the inclusion of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and considering the Buds Core sit just below them and have ANC, is just mind-blowing.

Moreover, the Core also uses the same 1-way 6.5mm driver that we saw on the FE. Besides this, the buds also support three Audio codecs, AAC, SBC, and Samsung’s Scalable Codec

The Buds FE let users toggle between ANC On, ANC Off, and Ambient Mode, which lets in outside sound. And as for audio in-take, the Galaxy Buds Core pack 3 microphones per bud (2 outer + 1 inner), just like the FE.

Moreover, features like Interpreter and Easy Pairing on the Buds FE also make their way to the Buds Core. The AI Interpreter enables seamless two-way, real-time translation, meaning you don’t need to constantly glance at your phone.

Battery and Connectivity

Now that the buds have officially launched, it’s safe to say that the rumor about a 100mAh battery on each bud was fake. In reality, each buds pack a 65mAh battery; nevertheless, it’s higher than the Buds3, Buds3 Pro, and Buds FE. Meanwhile, the case has a 500mAh battery.

Based on Samsung’s estimates, here’s what kind of battery life you’re looking at:

  • ANC On: Up to 20 hours total with the case
  • ANC Off: Up to 35 hours with the case

In terms of connectivity, the Buds Core supports Bluetooth 5.4.

You’ll be able to control and customize them via the Galaxy Wearable app (on Android), Galaxy Buds App for Windows, or through Bluetooth on iOS. And just like the Buds FE, these also offer Auto Switch.

And for the forgetful among us, Samsung’s got your back. The SmartThings Find feature can track your earbuds’ last known location on a map. You can even send out a ‘Lost and Found’ message to nearby Galaxy devices with your contact info, in case someone stumbles upon them.

The Galaxy Buds Core look and feel, almost identical to the Buds FE. From the wing-tip design to the audio drivers and triple mic setup.

Samsung seems to be reusing a lot of the same hardware here. And that’s not a bad thing, considering the price cut. The only real difference? The Buds Core step things up slightly with an IP54 rating.

All things considered, the Galaxy Buds Core will help Samsung tap into an even wider market. Hopefully, they will end up stirring up the competition in the midrange segment for earbuds with their entry!
