Samsung Galaxy A06 with Helio G85 Launched in Nepal

Samsung today launched the Samsung Galaxy A06 in Nepal. Unveiled in Vietnam a few days ago, the phone also launched in India on September 3.

Succeeding the Samsung Galaxy A05, the Samsung Galaxy A06 is an entry-level, budget phone powered by the same MediaTek Helio G85 chip. The phone features a high-res 50MP main camera, a 5000mAh battery, and a promise of 2 years of Android upgrades. Let’s see in detail what other features the Samsung Galaxy A06 offers.

Samsung Galaxy A06 Overview

Design

The design of the Samsung Galaxy A06 is very similar to the Galaxy A05. It has two cameras aligned vertically similar to its predecessor.

The plastic back has a striped design that reflects light in different shades. The power and volume buttons now have a raised frame, similar to other A series phones launched in 2024.

One welcome feature is that the A06 now has a fingerprint sensor embedded into a power button. The 3.5mm headphone jack, a mic, a USB-C port, and a speaker are located on the bottom side.

Display

The phone has a 6.7-inch PLS LCD display with 720 x 1600 pixels resolution and a waterdrop notch, the same as before. The phone still does not have a high refresh rate support.

Hardware

The phone comes with a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset. It is a capable entry-level octa-core processor (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55) with Mali-G52 MC2 to handle the graphics.

The phone comes in three variants in Nepal: 64GB or 128GB storage with 4GB RAM, and 6GB RAM with 128GB storage. There is also a dedicated micro SD slot for up to 1TB of storage expansion.

Camera

The dual camera setup on the rear features a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The front has an 8MP front camera.

The rear can shoot up to 1080p video at 60fps, while the front i only limited to 720p video at 30fps.

Battery and OS

The phone has a standard 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. The charging brick does not come in the box, but Samsung Nepal provides it for free separately.

In terms of software, the phone comes with One UI 6.0 based on Android 14. Samsung has promised to offer two major Android OS upgrades and four years of security updates.

Samsung Galaxy A06 Price in Nepal and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy A06 price in Nepal is Rs. 15,499 (4/64GB), Rs. 17,499 (4/128GB), and Rs. 19,499 (6/128GB). Samsung is providing a genuine 25W Samsung adapter for free with the phone.

You can purchase the phone at authorized Samsung stores from September 8, 2024. Using Insta Finance service, customers can also get a Samsung phone on EMI at a 0% interest rate.

The Samsung Galaxy A06 is a successor to the Samsung Galaxy A05. However, they both are almost identical with the same design and set of features.

The only upgrades you get are a fingerprint sensor and longer software support. Otherwise, the Galaxy A06 still has the same MediaTek Helio G85, a 60Hz PLS LCD display, and a 50MP main camera. I should mention that the Helio G85 still offers a good performance in this price range.
