The wait is finally over. The flagship killer which has drawn the attention of people all around the world has launched in Nepal today. Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro were released recently. The phones will be available on sale in Mi Nepal authorized stores and Daraz starting from the 11th of August. The Redmi K20 price in Nepal is set at Rs. 39,999 (6GB/128GB) while the Redmi K20 Pro price in Nepal is set at Rs 49,900 (8GB/256GB).
The specifications of the phones have been embedded in to my mind. Not only me but I believe those people who are looking out for the phone are also quite aware of the specification of these phone but still just refresh your memory, let’s have a look at specs of both the phones.
Redmi K20 Pro: Let’s look at the specs
The Alpha Flagship, at 6.39” phone is quite large and has a Horizon AMOLED FHD+ display which means that the phone is bright, has better contrast and has great viewing angles. With a resolution of 2340 x 1080p the phone is fully Bezel-less as the phone has a motorized pop-up camera. Don’t worry about the protection of the screen as well, cause the gorilla glass 5 will be able to withstand scratches to extensive level. But you may need a case for the back as it is glass and a huge fingerprint magnet. Considering Security, an in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature is present which is considerable in terms of speed and security.
Moving on to Processor and Performance, this phone has the top end snapdragon 855 processor which is currently present in premium flagship phones like the Samsung Galaxy S10 series, OnePlus 7 Pro, Zenfone 6. Also, the phone is only available in 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM in Nepal for now. The battery is pretty decent with Non-removable 4000mAh and fast charging at 27W (Quick Charge 4+). With medium usage the phone should last about a day. The phone is running MIUI 10 on top of Android Pie (9). With this processor, RAM, battery and display, I’d expect an exceptional performance from the phone and it should be able to deliver without question. So, performance wise there are no issues there.
The rear has a triple camera setup with main lens as wide 48MP which will be able to produce final image at 12MP and it should be excellent as other phones with this camera have shown promising results. The secondary 8MP telephoto and 13MP ultrawide should also be able to capture photos with more details and wide frame-view. The front has a pop-up camera at 20MP at f 2.2 which should be able to produce photos with great details and a nice in-depth feel in it. Some sources do indicate that the front camera is not as good as you’d expect but we’ll have to wait to fully review the camera. 4K Videos can be shot with all three rear cameras and it also includes a slow-motion. So there’s good detailed videos with better stabilization in better lighting conditions.

Redmi K20: Let’s look at the specs
The K20 with similar features in terms of battery, camera and display is not entirely inferior to the K20 Pro. The phone has the same glass finish in the front and the back, 6.3” Horizon HD+ full bezel-less display and in-display fingerprint scanner and face-unlock for authentication; so, no compromises in terms of body, display or security. The phone does not have a 27W charging as K20 Pro rather it has a 18W charger which will still be able to charge the phone at a fast rate.
However, the phone has a Snapdragon 730 which does not exactly compare to the 855 processor but still in terms of performance the phone is expected to deliver. The phone will only be available in 6GB/128GB storage in Nepal which is plenty and is actually better as most people will also be looking out for this variant. Battery wise the phone will be packing 4000 mAh which will last a day easily with minimum to medium usage.
It features the same triple camera setup as the K20 Pro. 14MP as primary camera with f1.8, an 8MP telephoto and 13MP Ultra-wide for wider shots with more coverage and more details. Videos can also be shot at 2160p and 1080p with EIS. The front is again the same motorized pop camera at 20MP similar to the K20 Pro.
The K20 is going to available in three color variants: Carbon Fiber, Red Flame and Glacier Blue whereas the K20 pro comes with an extra summer honey variant.

REDMI K20 Price in Nepal (6/128 GB): Rs 39,999
Comparison: Redmi K20 Pro vs Redmi K20
The K20 and K20 Pro have many similarities with each other. They’re both great phones but there’s a reason as to why K20 Pro has been set higher price. Time to look at the major differences in the phones:
Performance
The K20 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 855 which is currently the best and highest performing processor while the K20 has a snapdragon 730 which frankly doesn’t even come close to what the K20 Pro is delivering. When Comparing the same storage variants, the performance of K20 is shadowed by the performance of K20 Pro. Do note that K20 will be available with 6/128GB storage and K20 Pro will be available with 8GB/256GB storage. So, the K20 Pro wins by a huge margin in terms of performance.
Significant Differences
A significant difference between the K20 Pro and K20 can be seen in terms of fast charging. The K20 Pro comes with 27W fast charging which will definitely charge the phone a lot faster whereas the 18W fast charging is not as good as the 27W fast charging but it still does live up to the fast charging standards.
Another significant difference is the pricing in these phones. The K20 is priced at Rs 39,999 for the base (6/128) GB variant while the advanced (8/256) GB variant of the K20 Pro is priced at Rs 49,999 in Nepal which is not that huge considering the advantages with K20 Pro. There is a possibility of a 6/128GB variant of the K20 Pro which will be a lot better than buying the 6/128GB variant of K20.
Final Impressions
Both the phones are significantly powerful devices with loaded features. Design, display and battery wise they’re identical but performance matters a lot for me. If the K20 Pro were to be released in 6/128GB variants I would definitely go for this variant. But if you’re the kind of person who can compromise a little on performance, I would suggest you to go for the Redmi K20.
