Realme, a Chinese company that came in to existence nearly a year and half ago is finally making its goal to conquer the flagship smartphone category. The company seems to be content with the success they’ve made so far in the mid-range category. Thus, they’re finally debuting the official league match with their newly introduced Realme X2 Pro.
Realme X2 Pro, Realme’s first true flagship was just launched yesterday in China. The phone is pre-order in China from yesterday with shipment commencing from October 18. The phone comes with Qualcomm’s fastest processor, Snapdragon 855 Plus, a screen with 90Hz refresh rate, and support 50W fast charging, amongst other thing.
Realme X2 Pro will first go sale in Europe. Also, the phone is confirmed to launch in India this December. Realme has been absent from the Nepalese market for quite some time. But word on the street is that they are looking to bring a new lineup of phones with their new partners. And Realme X2 Pro maybe one of those phones. Let’s hope that we will be able to see this device in Nepal as well.
Okay, so let’s talk about the phone and find out what’s impressive?
Realme X2 Pro Quick Look
Starting off with the design itself, the new phone features a design improvement. The company previously went with polycarbonate finish to lower their prices but this phone features a glass body overall. Besides the glass, it’s a typical 2019 setup. One strange aspect on the design though is the logo pattern. They’re placed right next to camera in huge letters. And it’s just not for me.
The Realme X2 Pro features a 6.55” FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The 90Hz display is the same as OnePlus 7 lineup and well it’s a killer display to be honest. The phone offers 1000 nits peak brightness, supports HDR 10+ and features an eye protection mode. The phone also comes with in-display optical fingerprint sensor and a U-shaped notch on the panel.

Moving on, under the hood the phone is powered by a 2.9GHz Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset based on a 7nm process and equipped with an Adreno 640 GPU. The phone comes in three variants, 6/64GB, 8/128GB and 12/256GB. The most powerful variant 12/256GB comes with UFS 3.0 storage whereas base model comes with UFS 2.1. The phone runs Android Pie based Color OS 6.1, which will be getting an update soon enough. In order to cool the device, it also comes equipped with VC cooling liquid. As for the cameras, the device features a quad camera rear setup. The primary camera is centered around 64MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor. Followed by a 13MP telephoto lens, an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP portrait cam. And finally, the front features a 16MP camera with SonyIMX471 sensor. On paper, the setup does sound impressive. But how good is it? Well have to test it out.
Next up, we have a familiar 4000 mAh battery which powers the entire phone. But hear this out, the phone supports a 50W SuperVOOC charging which apparently gets the phone juiced up to 100% in just 35 minutes! Realme X2 Pro also comes with stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
Realme X2 Pro Price and Availability
Okay, we’ve covered the specifications of the device and definitely it’s worthy of being called a flagship device. It’s got top end processor, amazing display, good camera setup and a decent battery configuration. On paper, it’s on par with the major flagships of this year.
But there’s one other important aspect to consider before buying this device. And that is the price. Realme somehow has managed to provide an impressive spec sheet at an incredible price. The prices for the Realme X2 Pro phones are as follows:
- First, Realme X2 Pro 6/64GB: CNY 2,599 ~ NPR 42,024
- Second, Realme X2 Pro 8/128GB: CNY 2,799 ~ NPR 45,258
- Third, Realme X2 Pro 12/256GB: CNY 3,199 ~ NPR 51,727
In this price range, the Realme X2 Pro goes toe to toe with Xiaomi and OnePlus devices. For comparison, the OnePlus 7 PRO 8/256GB is priced Rs. 99,999 in Nepal and that is much much expensive than 12GB variant of Realme X2 Pro. You can clearly see, Realme is making OnePlus look super expensive.
Moreover, at this price, Redmi K20 and K20 Pro is the phone to beat. And, looking at the phone I think it is possible. The processor, camera and display are already better.
Besides, something that stands out for the Realme X2 Pro is its battery. The phone supports 50W SuperVOOC charging which is not found in any competing phone, all of which max out at 30W fast charging.
Well, that’s all I can say for now. If the phone does manage to arrive in Nepal, we’ll make sure to notify you all. Till then, do let us know your thoughts in comments below.
